    On Today's Episode:
Until now, you probably haven’t associated infertility with the collapse of our global population. From the U.S. to India, to South Korea, Canada, the U.K. and more, fertility rates are reaching critical levels. Humans now meet 3 criterias for being an endangered species.
If that doesn’t have you totally rattled yet, our guest today, Dr. Shanna Swan, epidemiologist best known for research she published in 2017 which set off alarms and caught the attention of major media and scholars around the world, joins Tom to highlight the many factors contributing to a 50% drop in fertility rates, testosterone, and reproductive function.
Shanna’s work quickly became the world’s 26th most referenced scientific paper, and her latest book, Count Down: How Our Modern World Is Threatening Sperm Counts, Altering Male and Female Reproductive Development, and Imperiling the Future of the Human Race, delivers a less than optimistic view of guaranteed economic population collapse.
The information Dr. Shanna shares brings up major concerns for the future of humanity as a species and for our current health.
Chemicals leading to our extinction have some government incentivizing people to have sex and procreate.
Women’s education and rights to contraception, and urbanization are contributing to women’s lack of interest in birthing 5 and 6 kids.
Endocrine disrupting chemicals are nearly unavoidable as they’re in what you eat, drink and breathe
The under masculinization of males is an actual problem impacting their lifespan
Lifestyle factors are part of this conversation and include obesity, stress, binge drinking, and poor metabolic health
Shanna gives a masterclass on phthalates, a chemical found in plastics that make them softer, helps products be more absorbable, holds scent and color better in everyday products we’re accustomed to using, and she shares a simple poem to help you identify safer recycled plastic options. Looking at the number on your plastic bottles, commit this to memory…
“5,4,1 and 2 all the rest are bad for you.”

“If a couple is infertile, where the man is infertile and his sperm count is low, his health is impacted.”
“Men with low sperm count and men who could not conceive a pregnancy will die younger, they have a shorter life expectancy.”
“The phthalate syndrome in humans is an incomplete masculinization of the male genital tract.”
“This is not an equal opportunity problem, [...] people who are stressed, disadvantaged, socially challenged in various ways are going to be hit much more.”

The Real crime against humanity is Overpopulation due to selfish breeding caused Rampant Inflation which caused everyone who is not a Multi-Millionaire to be forced to live a lower quality of life and also everyone including the Billionaires are poisioned due to earth being poisioned due to overpopulation due to selfish breeding. The people who grew up in the 1950s had the best quality of life because the planet wasn't so grossly overpopulated then.

Selfish breeding caused rampant inflation. Overpopulation due to selfish breeding is the root-cause of the worlds worst problems. Breeders don't give a crap that their selfish spawning causes mass shootings, rampant inflation, pandemics, climate change, noise pollution, wars, and less resources for the masses and so higher costs for the masses which caused Millions to become homeless. Basic Economics. Breeders either are not smart enough to understand the law of Supply vs Demand or they don't give a crap about anybody except themselves.

Well thanks to #MeToo this will never be solved. you see, once you have a social movement to reclassify all precursor activities that relate to dating, relationship formation and marriage as "sexual harassment", "sexual assault" and "rape" you should be surprised no one is fcking anymore. Add in the negative impacts of dating apps, modern feminism, instagram culture and absurd standards held by modern women and it all starts to make sense. In the dating app reality you better have six pack abs, make a six figure salary and be a minimum of 6ft six feet tall lol. Otherwise forget about it modern women are disgusted by real average men. Who wants to be bothered with all that BS? Men have options and it doesn't take alot to make us happy, we can do without.

@@mariabeckwith3336 The costs of healthcare, food, clothing, and post-secondary education are "considerable," to put it mildly, so if you don't have a good job or other income that pays decently, good luck with trying to raise children. I was lucky in that my father was an executive who made a decent--though not anywhere near "rich"--salary, and so he was able to support his family. But even so, money "issues" always furrowed his brow, and it often seemed to me like money was something that was very often a serious matter. I agree with you though that bike rides and time were mostly free--well, you'd have to buy a bike, of course. But as a "boomer," yes, I know what you're talking about. Just being free from school in summer vacation was a great joy. Time to walk, run, shoot baskets, throw a baseball back and forth, ride your bike, climb a tree, hang out with your friends, and so on--all free and enjoyable pastimes. No "screens" beyond TV and movie theaters at that time, so no people walking around transfixed like zombies by their "smartphones," or endlessly playing video games. I'm very grateful that I grew up in a place and time when kids had more of a life outdoors, not just a "screen-focused" existence! Oh, let's not forget one more great joy that didn't cost much money--books! I was lucky to grow up in a home where there were always lots of books around, so I became curious about them, and eventually became an avid reader like the rest of my family. The whole "Wizard of Oz" series was such fun when I was young!

Every time a woman has a child she becomes dependent. She is either dependent on someone else for income as she cares for her child or she is dependent on someone to care for her child while she works for income. Biologically the difference between the genders is that women carry and, give birth to children. If we go by nature, women feed babies and children her milk, which means she is close to them in the early years. Economically we make having children mean women are economically at a disadvantage because we do not value women by paying them what this production is truly worth. I am a grandmother and I see my daughter and her peers that have children struggle under the load of expectation to be in the workforce and to have children too. This expectation on our women is unrealistic. I hear young women not wanting children at all. We are where we are as a society because we have valued the wrong things and we need to address this issue and economically value women that carry, birth, and nurture children. Our future depends on it . Many women struggle when they leave their babies to go to work. Women want to be valued. The profit before people has a big part in the rest

theres no reason for people to be living under financial stress during times when AI can replace lots of jobs out there. children are important for the future. people should try to have children as early as possible since your likely to be in better health as compared to an older age. as you age, the body builds up toxins and bacteria and it affects the offsprings as well.
its fine if men and women dont attach or like each other but the least we need is children being created at a young age to keep humanity continuing. if reincarnation is real, i would rather be reincarnated as a human than some other animal which will die in a painful way.

Our economy has been rigged to make it so that things are unaffordable for a single person to be stably employed and make enough money to live. A few yars ago it was estimated that at 2100 the human population would peak at 2100 at 11 bilion people. However the fertility rate has lowered since then and now the years is 2086 at 10:68 billion or something.
I'm certain that the fertility rate will drop yet again and we will eventually find the population peaking in 2050 at 9.5 billion or something like that.
Human population is expected to drop from that point going forward.
I suspect that we see that decline going from a baby boom into a baby bust where at some point there just won't be enough kids and within a 20 year span the population gets cut by a third or something like that because everyone working and not able to afford to have kids at all. It's either that or all of the progress we made literally disappears, no more internet, no more medicine, no antibitotics or vaccines. All of the technology we have is either hoarded by the extremely wealthy or more than likely we have a level of dependant technology like smart phones and the extremely wealthy run an oligarchy like old times and the people have nothing whatsoever.
      Of course there is a way out of this and that is;
      1. Getting sensible economic practices put in place at the government level.
      2. A complete revamp of education from whatever it is now to a more sensible education system that focuses on literacy and understanding as well as only provable techniques and practices. We eliminate teaching people stuff they will likely never use and theories that when implemented do not work.
      3. A mental evolution so that people aren't succumbing to all sorts of stresses, any mental illness that does occur is handled swiftly and not just "managed" but actually resolved for real with non brutal, non-invasive techniques that get results

Yes, I agree. My parents held grudges against me and would not help. We had no other support system either, not even our church. We were only good for giving them our money and time, the never returned the favor. At one point, my husband was ill. I had all the responsibility of supporting us. We had two young children at the time. It was at that point that I decided no more kids. It just was too much. Several years later, things got straighten out, I tried to have another, but no luck, I was infertile. Insurance wasn't paying for treatment at the time (1990's). So the odds were stacked against us ever having more than two kids. I think that we were lucky even for that. If we had to do it today, I don't think we could afford it. $90./week for food for two people. We bought a house years ago when houses cost much less. Our children are grown, but neither wants kids. We will never have grandchildren. They are on the two different ends of the can't have kids spectrum. With our son, it's economic. He can't afford even marriage. Our daughter is the exact opposite. She and her husband earned big salaries, own a large house, but she loves her freedom and her traveling. She's not about to give it up. She bought her husband a dog instead and so her foreign born, old world in laws will have someone to baby sit while she travels. Their other son has no kids either, his common law wife has a child who is now a teen from another relationship. They are not getting married, but own a house.

The day I made a pact, I was crying while doing the laundry, not my laundry but my cousin's laundry, there were five of them in the household and since me and my sister were forced to live with them to be able to study, we took on the role like house slaves. That day, I just got off from working at McDonald's busting out the dining, worked for 8 hrs, I was only 16. At the end of the shift, I was having trouble with my legs, they felt so heavy. My whole body was so painful all over, I was shaking. I thought I could rest and have a pecaful night so I was really excited to get home. Upon arriving home I was met with the laundry, imagine 3-4 huge basins and some buckets. While my other cousin was just sitting prettily inside the house, didn't even bother to help me. I started crying while doing their laundry and swore that I won't being a child on this earth if I will only give them an awful life, so at 39 I still don't have a child. My take. I grew up watching women look after the husband, the house, the kids, hold down a job, then get dumped for some young tootsie when they got older. Men of course, never got older (!)Then as I got older myself, I saw women work round the kids, get a job, learn to drive. Many older women are completely independent, have their own homes, go on holiday with friends. It's the guys that treated them so badly who end up alone, needing a woman to care for them and guess what? Nobody is there.

Yes, exactly. That’s just how I saw these things develop in the sixties. The eighties saw divorce and women left poorer and left to raise the children , keep a job and do all the usual jobs needed to run a household.
Having seen this I would never now bring children into this world. And there is climate change to consider now.

Women cheat as often as men, their pair-bonding is not as strong when it happens and there’s an estimated 5-20% of men who unknowing raise children who are not their own. Women instigate divorce at considerably higher rates than men as well so thinking men are afraid or not dedicated to commitment is not born out by reality either. This isn’t an “evil men duhh patriarchy” problem.

    • @StuJones-gn7te
      @StuJones-gn7te 2 місяці тому

      Never happened in human history.
When women took care of everyone, men didn't dump them.
The divorce surges started after WW2, by which time, women had begun to NOT take care of everyone, reaching its peak, not yet.
Today, if a woman does manage to manipulate a man into marriage, she pushes him around constantly and uses threats of violence, prison grape and the police against him.
Every decision made by a "couple" is made by her, BUT blamed on and paid for by him.
Usually, the women throw the men out.
When a man DOES leave, he rarely has another woman.
When women throw men out, they usually have another man to.move right in.
Gee... The theory of abusive men must really make you happy. Gives an excuse. But there are fewer and fewer such men all the time.
BTW, almost ZERO MEN want to put up with women anymore, even just to get laid, let alone get married.

In the 90s it was perfectly good women in their 20s and younger, same age as me, who later went on to long-term serious relationships. By the 00s, it was late 20s to early 40s women who, had they been more normal, wouldn't have even been dating but because they weren't, were by now becoming bitter and rabidly judgemental if you didn't tick all their boxes. Instead of sorting out their own problems internally, which in their late teens or early 20s just looked like "growing pains" on the way to becoming adults, they were now blaming you for their own failures and shortcomings. Most of the ones with their heads screwed on were already spoken for by this point, a decade or more into their adult lives. Just the leftovers remained. Very interesting subject, Tom. We're about the same age and I too remember being told not to get anyone pregnant. I remember sitting at the dinner table and my dad threatening us not to. I realize he just didn't want us having children before our time but it stigmatized what it meant to have children and I therefore never did. Another factor was how I watched my parents struggle to pay the bills. While our family had what it needed, we certainly weren't flash but never took handouts from the government either. I always had handed down bikes and wore cheap tennis shoes, for example. It taught me to be very self-sufficient and to take care of what I had. I have a brother and sister and they only have one child each. When our country went to two income households in the 70s, supercharged by the high divorce rate, it was the beginning of the end. The advent of the birth control pill played into this as well. Then, technology killed any new baby boom we might have had in the 90s. I think a lot of people wish they could morph into the gadgets that consume their every waking moment and shrug off their humanity which explains the increasing hostility and lack of empathy toward each other.

It's not modern life exactly that is causing so many of us in Western nations to become more and more celibate, rather it's programming that is an attempt to rile up younger and middle-aged males to go to war, followed by those still alive after that war coming home to lots of "kitty cat" stuff. "Do the work (of war), get the reward" being the message.
Twenty years ago 60% of males in their 20s surveyed said they "made whoopie" at least once in the previous 12 months, and about 70% of same aged females said the same. Today, 60 to 70% of woman in their 20s say they are "making whoopie" at least once a year, but only about 20 to 30% of males in their 20s have even had one date in the previous year.

My whole life I knew I wanted to be a father, it was instinctual and part of my dating criteria. I only dated women who wanted kids too. But I'm 30 years old now and something changed along the way. I'm unsure if I want to have kids anymore, and if I were to articulate why, it's because throughout my 20s I struggled with my career. 6 years of study, and then 6 years of struggle just to become financially stable, and have a level of leverage. My 30s feels as if I'm having a delayed 20s. I'm literally buying action figures, and shit I couldn't even afford in my 20s. In my 30s I'm a bit burned out, overworked, and I'm just starting to search for contentment in life. Many of my friends still struggle, so many still live with their parents, are broke, working fast-food / "dead end jobs"... these are difficult times. If you cannot even support yourself, and don't feel like you have leverage in your own life, how are you going to feel ready to raise a whole second human being? Folks can't even afford dental / healthcare, can't afford homes... How are they going to feel like they can afford a child? I actually didn't health insurance throughout my 20s because I couldn't afford it. My wisdom teeth literally rotted, and I couldn't do anything for 2 years because the dentist quoted me 8000$ for impacted surgeries. I actually traveled to India for 2300$ and had it done for 300$. Since I've experienced hardships, I know it's often not selfish / superficial. It's not that women only want independence, or men don't want to be tied down. If you look at the graph, "In bad times fewer babies are born", it dipped during the great depression, during the 1973 oil crisis, and now during the recession / inflation. If people felt financially / emotionally stable, wanting children would be the natural next challenge.
I would also say the west incentivized divorce, and men are more reluctant of legal marriages, and there's obviously a toxic culture of OF, gender wars, radical feminism, "we don't need men", the radical red pill stuff etc. The algorithm shows me that shit on a daily basis.

It’s the men who do not have much to begin with that are always worrying about something that no one is even asking them for. Who is asking you to marry them? Can you even get a date? Even if you wanted kids, do you have a woman that wants to do that for you? I heavily doubt it. All that divorce stuff is just an excuse 😂

    • @evolor
      @evolor Рік тому +10

      That's my sentiment exactly, however
I see things a little differently lately, I am simply a product of my environment, we all are in some way shape or form, the more shit you are exposed to at an earlier stage, the more problems you are likely to have later on, that's why statistically broken families birth broken children by raising them in a wrong environment, if and when they form families of their own, they are more likely to bring up broken children because people attract what feels familiar and do as such, it looks to be an unbreakable cycle, and what I innately feel is I need to break this cycle, by potentially not having children of my own if the right environment is not there.
The younger you are the less you think about consequences and only look towards the exciting stuff, that's why some cultures push people to marry early, so the raw rice is already cooked so to speak, so you go along to get along to get on with it. Not saying which is right or wrong, but I feel it's easier to make decisions while you are still young and "stupid", much harder when you have seen enough or wise enough, the power of will is very different.

Modern media, film, television, internet, have made it possible for everyone to see what the best lives are like: the lives of the most beautiful people, the richest people, the luckiest people.
90% of people are collateral victims of life: unremarkable, unattractive, hopeless in terms of talents, success and finances.
It is not surprising if some percentage of that majority comes to the conclusion that they do not want to participate in life. They don't have the quality, strength or courage for success, they don't want to settle, so they choose not to participate: _"I don't want to be with a woman if I can't have a beautiful woman. I don't want to have children if I can't afford the best life for myself and them. I don't want to work hard if I know I won't achieve success worth the effort."_

Stress + poor diet + pollution + Pharmaceuticals and everything else are destroying all of us.
Doctors had me on 14!!! different medications for several years. They kept saying I was getting worse so they would add another pill or increase the dosage of the ones I was already taking.
Finally my son and I went on a sort of retreat together for 4 days and did a deep dive research into everything the doctors said I had and every medicine they had me taking.
When we returned, I had every test imaginable done and put all the meds/Rx’s in box. Didn’t tell the doctors anything and even continued to fill the Rx’s so they wouldn’t suspect anything 😮
Also, changed my diet completely with a plan my son came up with.
I started eating what he calls “single ingredient” foods.
Nothing from a box or bag, only the freshest stuff I can get.
Lots of protein, eggs cooked in real butter with real cheese, lamb, chicken, beef, venison, elk, antelope, fish (wild).
    Absolutely zero soy!
Nothing with multiple ingredients I usually can’t pronounce and don’t know what they are.
No seed oils of any kind, no sugar, no alcohol except a little red wine.
Low carbs (no store bought bread) but not zero carbs.
I eat from 11am to 5pm every day.
3 months later I had all the tests done again.
Absolutely every test/level came back great all green.
I had lost 51 lbs, 8” off my waist, BMI went from 28% to 14.5%, no more diabetes, no more pain, normal blood pressure, all symptoms were gone all without exercise!
It’s been 4 years since then and my wife who is 24 years younger than me (I’m over 50) is very pleased and is in heaven 2 - 3 times a day 😮😂🎉🎉
I take zero meds, BMI is 12% and I’ve gained 20lbs of muscle.

So why do that why accept yourself if you can live contend in a fantasy. Its not that we think this conciously its more like we think we want to get out because we dont like it, but we dont want to get out because we dont want to face the sunken cost fallacy of all the pride we have invested into our sense of self and everything that proves it otherwise is dissmissed which turns into cognitive dissonance.

Population decline is such a simple math. It's NOT financially responsible for 99% of couples to have children, in first world countries. And it's due, predominantly, to predatory capitalism and income inequality. It's out of control. I have two adult children. Both of them are gainfully employed. Both of them have told me not to expect grandchildren until the economy settles into something viable for raising children. And both of them are concerned about climate change, war, disease, and in general, civilization falling apart. And I cannot find a rational argument against their concerns.
Full disclosure. I am a capitalist since I have owned my own business and had employees. It's out of control capitalism that I speak of here. It's akin to allowing an over population of predators into an ecosystem. They have over hunted and, frankly, are 💩-ing all over the planet! Who in their right mind would bear children in this mess? I'll tell you who will. People who lack an understanding of what it takes to properly raise children! Bad parents make for bad children. Uncivilized even. And this is where we find ourselves. The collapse of civilization is all around us. And it's occurring on two fronts. Uncivilized adults are having more and more uncivilized children. And civilized adults are choosing to not have children. Within 5 years there will, predominantly, be mostly uncivilized young adults. In fact, I am observing this now! Social Media has encouraged, and programmed, the last two generations into full blown narcissists! You cannot maintain CIVILIZATION with an abundance of narcissists! Why? Because at their core, they only care for themselves. And Civilization requires most of its citizens to be thinking of things outside of themselves. Specifically the well being of other people within their local and National population. We are, most likely, bearing witness to the beginning of the end of Civilization itself. Think I'm overreacting? Go to any major city, in any first world country, and tell me you do not see this decline happening? Where I live it is even beginning in the towns and countryside!
I fear for my children's future. Any rational parent, in this man made mess, should.

    • @nerychristian

Bullshit. Population decline is caused by one thing. Feminism. Feminism has made women avoid getting married or have children. More and more women are waiting too long to get married or start looking for a husband. Trust me. Most men want to get married and have children. But most men cannot find suitable women. Women who are actively looking for a husband. Most men are too afraid to even approach women now, because women have become hostile to most men. As for taxes, perhaps a workable solution would be no tax for incomes under say, maybe $150,000/year per taxpayer or $250,000 per household/family of four and a flat 12% tax for everything above that exemption amount with no write offs or deductions for anything else except perhaps education & medical which is essentially how it is for some low income earners who don’t hold financial assets. End ALL lobbying by corporate and religious institutions, overturn Citizens United, institute taxpayer financed campaigns where all candidates receive the same amount of money to level the playing field, put a hard cap on campaign on any/all political spending - prohibit private and corporate money, clean up SCOTUS and place strict standards of ethics and code of conduct with accountability and stringent penalties along with term limits, strip religion from every office of government, returning to the Constitutional provision and remove phrase “under God” from pledge of Allegiance.
