The cabless quarry Hunslets are my favorite, and Winifred is probably my favorite of them all. The black lined livery with brass dome just looks like a classic and timeless. Why loads of these were not exported around the world for backyard/garden railways I’ll never know, but they’re about the perfect size loco for it.
@@pilotbug6100 if I were to do a new build loco it would be the one that sadly got away. The Midland Railways Johnson Belpaire 4-4-0 also known as the 3P. Why it wasn’t immediately preserved with the other 4-4-0 after the Hull and Barnsley rail tour like the NER Worsde 4-4-0 is still unbelievably stupid. Both were just as important historically.
I have driven a minature Quarry Hunslet based on Lilia based on the FR. I had a footplate ride on Lilian one of the engines based on the LSR in Cornwall
Velinheli has just returned to service after the fitting of a new boiler. I can remember seeing him chuff out of the museum building at the LSR in Cornwall 11 years ago
I love these lil guys. They are very adorable.

Excellent!
You've got to love these engines.
totally. The De-winton's and the Huslets were the powerhouses up in the Quarries moving slate to the cutting sheds on roughly laid track.
Little point of interest, Velinheli has Maid Marian's boiler type, as Maid Marian was the one built with the dome on the tank

Great video. Would it be worth doing one of these videos for the hunslet austerities as they are plenty
