- What up 2020, we back!
Ski-touring from the road, through a forest and up a mountain bowl, to the top of a steep French peak, from which we climb, ski and laugh our way down. Welcome to the first episode of Mountain Vlogs, where I bring you along for the ride on typical mountain days! In this one, I join Slovenian park skier turned mountaineer Bine Zalohar, and my Finnish friend André Dalkarl for a big day a short drive from home. No superstar snow, but all in all a fun day in a beautiful place!
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
Filming: Jacob Wester, André Dalkarl and Bine Zalohar

This is true big mountain skiing as it is without the bullshit!
The only way we do it! Thanks🔥
I can't understand how someone has the heart to dislike this kind of genuine quality content. It baffles me.
😘
they probably missed and didnt notice
Grishnakh and you are???
@Grishnakh not an asshole who slags people posting videos on UA-cam when they haven't got a single video themselves. So why dont you fuck away back to your mums basement and let us adults get on with out pretty damn good lives
Old people
Dang, you guys are so freaking calm and chill in those precarious locations. I definitely don't have the nerve to take the skis OFF and change to crampons on a 60 degree pitch with a cliff below me. Glad you guys appear prepared for everything and have the skills to do it. Be safe.
"Clap" "Clap" "Clap" Encore...what a time in life for you guys...I'm so privy that you guys take the huge effort to also RECORD footage for us! Thanks for that!
Ayyy keep posting these. Would love to see more
DOOD wtf this ski run is giving me anxiety..YIKES!!!!!!!!!
Amazing! You guys are insane! Love your videos.
Jacob Wester I shot a sic photo of you that my local paper used when you were flying 30 ft over my head in Sunday River, MAINE at the DUMONT CUP! :)
Yea Nathan, I remember that shot! Great memories, I love Maine!
Crazy!
Best adventure film I’ve seen in a long time. It incorporated everything. Great 👍
Well done gentlemen!. We got shut down from skiing since the middle of March. I miss it. We usually drive to the mountains every 2 weeks. Jasper or Banff. I am old so it was close to 20 years ago I first went to the cleavage at Banff. You guys make the cleavage look like a green run.At the time I was really just learning to ski so it was outstanding in the fear factor. You guys go to great effort to get that fear factor. Great job!
You're literally doing jump turns down a vertical chute, and yet your turns are still better than mine on the piste. Mad respect bro!
You're good at these! Looking forward to many more!
What a fun day out in the mountains, great video!
fan va sjuk vlog, bättre än majoriteten andra skidvloggar!
Great adventure. Amazing skill set & poise. Thanks.
Super cool adventure Jacob🙌
Great vid ....congrats and keep them coming !!
Been waiting forever for this. Thank you.
You are very welcome Tom!

So stoked to see your still shredding! Cool little day such a badass line. Im getting older now and pumped to see one of my low key favs still crushing lines. Keep em coming brotha.
Shred til i die (of natural causes at an old age)!!!
@@JacobWesterSki me to brotha me to 🤘 May not be as known as you but best believe I get mine... your influence along with others kept me out of trouble. Nothing but respect the drive wears off on people. I wanna watch you and others till I'm 50. My son is 3 and knows your part in La Nina already haha. Sits there repeating. "That's webster!" "That's webster!" Crazy that's 10 yrs ago already now your off scaling cliffs. So much progress. Be safe have and good day man. Ur an animal
Thanks for the kind words!! Best of luck to you and your family!
Epic buddy
I have respect for this descent !
this is the best content ever bro subscribed and watching every vid
Snyggt!
"and we died"
Slovenians... 🤷♂️
Cool vid!
Here we go! 😁
Boom🤜🤛
Nice, I'm super impressed by the video. Guess the chute would be even more sketchy on the Snowboard. Went freeriding once with my ski instructor association and well experienced guides, but I almost shat my pants being the only fella on a board...
wauu just wauu guys .. maximum satisfaction. how much knowledge do you need for a few minutes of descent I blinked none when you started the descent bravoo maximum satisfaction good job and safe things👏🤘
Thanks for the kind words Nicolas!
Crushing it yo! Stoked to follow.
Thanks Dustin!
Definitely a brown run
Very nice 👍
Happy that I am not the only one counting steps while boot packning:)
It's hard work but someone gotta do it!
Awesome, yeah how you can get experience if you are not trying. I was nearly shitting my pants when doing stuff like this, but yeah got more experienced over time. It is so...... Cooooool really. And the tools where much more worse back in the 80-s
Oh i bet! Real adventurers back then!
So inspirational, living a dream of adrenaline! Please post more stuff like this, looking for some fun lines on the south face of Aiguille du midi for upcoming trips! Will do a haute route this March aswell!
Thank you! Yes the plan is to drop more of these one-day missions throughout the winter. Maybe some midi stuff too!
True, you gotta earn your turns!
You dont have to but they are way sweeter when you do!
Grymt
I'm so siked I found this video completely randomly, also greetings to Bine from Slovenia!
Thanks Jaka, I will tell Bine hi!
Mer av sånt här!!!
Mer kommer!
Grym video och bra redigering 👍👍
Tackar tackar!
Känns som jag hade mer puls av kolla på detta än vad du hade som gjorde det, galet!
I would be to worried about an avalanche with this snow. Looks like fun though. I used to ski in crazy stuff in the 70’s and 80’s when we had longer skis. But things change when you get older and have a family. I so miss skiing with my friends at Mammoth and Lake Tahoe. These guys seem like a good group that watches out for each other and they enjoyed their climb and skiing down the mountain as their reward.
yeah you catch an edge on a cliff like that and your taking a hell of a ride down
Yes, not recommended!
Nice vid, looks like a great day, like how you don't edit out the sketchy bits and just include the cool looking parts. Do you use shorter skis/higher edge bevels than usual for chutes like that? Stay safe out there.
Thanks! I usually stay around the 185-190cm length for all my skiing, if I go shorter its to save weight for really big days, with 1500m+ of vert. I always feel more comfortable on big skis :)
Great video! Definitely the kind of skiing i like to watch but probably never will ski myself. Not a good enough skier to imagine myself riding down stuff like this.
If you could have only one (width of) ski for everything, pow, slope, crust and park... What would you take?
Good thing most of the peaks around here (including the one in the video), have easier descents to pick from. The views are still the same ☺️
I would pick something around 106 waist, with a turning radius of 19-21 meters. The Rossignol Sender TI that I'm skiing in this video ticks most boxes, I can't recommend it enough!
Grip it and RIP it!! YEWWWWWWWWW!
Nice video!
I like it and it inspire me a lot.
I make also Ski videos😂👍
I appreciate your sentiment about looking down and just persevering step by step ... but when you're in the mountains you always need to be looking up! not trying to call you out, just wanting to keep everyone who's inspired by you safe!
Very good objection to my hiking technique. Always keep your eyes on possible objective dangers of course. I should have added I only do this when deemed safe. Cheers!
I earn my turns in Japan, and its a whole lot not like this :) Awesome content, cheers!
Bet the snow is better! 😉
hoooooly 12:08
Hey man, what are your huge thick ski poles w orange basket?/ thank you
Ask @binezalohar 😏
Can you please make a video or a list on the camera you are using, and most important, the settings. Maybe you allready did, but it looks good so i'd love to know them. I have a hero 8 black, but im still struggling on the camera settings
This video was made with my Huawei P30 pro smartphone, and a gopro 7 set at 1080p, 16:9, 50fps, superview, protune :)
@@JacobWesterSki thank you soo much
The game is , because there is so much competition to get their vids out, people will climb to get a video. Hoping to attract a sponsor. Rather than having a sponsor that will pay for a heli or track mobile. Tough job!
You sir, seem uninformed on some crucial details. 1. Ski-mountaineering is about so much more than the skiing. The endurance training to the top. The airy ridge traverse with the beautiful views. The suspense and engagement of skiing something steep and exposed. The route finding and problem solving. The camaraderie at the bottom. Those who love being in the mountains, not only the skiing part, will know what I mean.
2. Neither heli skiing nor "track mobiling" is allowed in France, so there would be no skiing these lines unless people walk up. Any questions?
Sick video! Keep ‘em coming. Are those the Rossignol Alltrack pro? If yes, how are they treating you, and why not the elites instead? Been looking at getting them myself
Yes thats correct! I use both, the elite has a bit of a different flex and works best for freeride, the pro is a bit better for ski mountaineering. They are very similar however and I dont think you will notice a difference tbh.
I was freakin gripped the whole top part of the descent. That kind of exposure is scaaary. As a snowboarder, i feel like holding an edge with that kind of snow and exposure is not an option, the risks of sliding down are just too much... Great video tho !
Oh yes! Sharp edges and a cool head mandatory!
do not try this at home
me: F*CK I WANTED TO SKI DOWN A GIANT F'CKING MOUNTAIN AT HOME
How's your leg after the run?
My leg is fine, thank you ☺️
What kind of poles is Bine using?
Chamonix style steepski poles! Dont know the brand though.
@@JacobWesterSki Same question, Can we hook up Bine?
I have never seen a skin track like that ! More like a skin road !
Haha, yea it is actually used by 4x4s in the summer!
ok tkole bo lažje...♥ kakšne smučke so to ? kje si jih lahko ogledaš? kakšna pametna stran za pošerat k prodajajo tako opremo/forum? tnx ♥
All that work for wind blown powder. Looks hard to deal with.
"There are those who enjoy skiing, those who enjoy climbing, and then there are those who enjoy The Mountain." Thanks for watching 🤙
No snow anywhere😩
Oh it is coming!
Jacob Wester it has delivered here as well! Hope it will remain and not melt down😩
bra video, men ändå är ni galna !!
tack, typ? 😉
Jacob Wester varsågod
Crusty , wind blown powder really sucks. And after such a hard climb. I feel sorry for you. Good job though. I could never do what you do.
Was three comments really necessary to convey this message? I get it, you like skiing, not being outside.
@@JacobWesterSkiI only see two comments. Why lie? And why did you assume I don't like being outside? Are you upset that I said skiing crusty snow sucks? I don't get it.
to me that is not really worth the effort. I can see doing it to say that you climbed something just to have done it but not making a habbit of it. I got pretty high up mt. shasta before then tried to snowboard for the 1st time down, glad i did but i would rather have 15 or more runs with a chairlift
I can't get over why you all climb so hard for such a short ride down? I mean, that is why lifts were invented.
