How to get to "Release" in Free Roaming and return to Juvie｜Mirror's Edge Catalyst

- At last, we've found a way to go back to the area from the first mission (Release) in Free Roaming, this video will show you how to accomplish that.

As for the required skills, you should know:
• Zen's Gliding glitch ( • Glide glitch - tutoria... )
• Double wall climb: Start wallclimbing on the right wall in a corner, press Quickturn and Jump while moving the mouse quickly to the right to start the second wallclimb on the other wall of the corner.
• Trick Jump (Higher): At the top of a wallclimb, if you only have a short distance left to grab a ledge above you, you can use quickturn and move mouse quickly to the right while pressing jump to get a little higher, usually enough to grab that ledge.

The starting area looks so nice in daylight they should of had it that way at the start and it reminds me of the original mirrors edge

I LOVE that you turned around in the start of the Glide glitch, and that you called it Glide glitch instead of float glitch (which isn't the correct term). The only other thing I'd mention, is that saying directions instead of keys, while I understood that S meant down, might be helpful to other people? Also, the FOV. Wooh.
Hello, I'm the one playing in this video. Yes, that was intentional because like Dogen says, "Things should be called by their proper names" :) And to my knowledge, Zen is the one who discovered this glitch and therefore gets to name it.
I was also thinking about what to call the walking-backwards button and decided to go with S because due to the difficulty of this, it might not be possible on console anyway (I've tried and failed at the antenna). That being said, there is an alternate and much easier way that we might upload a video on in the future. Also, "Down" could be confused with the "Downwards action" key (which is the one you use for crouching/rolling/etc). I think it should be fairly self explanatory anyway, because it says "Move slowly backwards" above it.
The FOV was also intentional, I don't normally set it that high but people have criticized me for having it too low in the past when I upload videos, but I guess it's impossible to satisfy everyone :D I thought it was good for the tutorial to see as much of the environment as possible anyway.

The effort and dedication put onto this vid is impressive. Even more impressive is how you guys find these tricks/glitches to begin with.
With modders like Aid1788 now doing map edits, I hope they make these areas accessible in free roam.
Awesome video and kudos for the design! You should just keep all the text a little bit longer on the screen, e.g. at 2:19. It's hard to read without pausing the video.

Wow this video is so well elaborated... You earned a new sub, I love this game and you actually gave me interest again for this game. I didn't know what to do when I finished it so I uninstalled it, but I'm reinstalling only for this kind of routes, thanks!
Thanks for the comment :) We put a lot of effort into this video and we're happy that you enjoy what we created! Great to hear that we gave you a reason to play the game again. With a bit of imagination, there is a ton of things you can do in the Free Roaming, you can actually glitch you way back to every mission area except for The Shard and Prisoner X (maybe these two will be possible in the future, too).
After we made this video, we've found a couple of new ways for going back to Release that is a lot easier (we've uploaded videos for each method, two of them are on my channel). The latest ones are so easy that they provide almost no challenges at all, in this video you see the original way we found and it provides the biggest (and probably the most fun) challenge :)

There's also a player in the game, who made a time trial near the Prison. You can go there and just glide down. I've been there. :)
Indeed, some runners cheats to get there but this one is REAL skill, ha.

How do I perform the double wall climb to reach invisible platform at the top of the tower on PLAYSTATION CONSOLE.. for the life of me just doing the little sideways look jiggle ain't working lol
You wallclimb, press quickturn and then jump, while rotating the camera back towards the opposite direction the quickturn is turning it. It's all about timing, really, and you gotta be fast, start tilting the right stick and press jump directly after you pressed quickturn.

How do you climb higher on console?
Same way as on PC. At the top of a wallclimb, you press quickturn and immediately press jump and look as much as you can to the right. Increasing the look sensitivity to maximum helps.

hey guy's i have just learned Double wall climb on PS4 yeaa.. but i am sorry for my misunderstanding on about the start point though ^^ just now i was planning on going back to release. but instead i started mission release :-( hehe ^^ yea and btw i just took another path to the roof. in the begiining much much faster. :-| BTW includes double wall climb :-D

What we meant with that label "How to get to Release in Free Roaming" is that the end result is that you're in the Release mission area, in Free Roaming. Not that the entire process that takes you there necessarily only consists of Free Roaming. But I can see how you would misinterpret that.
