It's funny how people are bitching about this comparison being unfair about the hardware difference, it's obvious, I didn't came to see what it's obvious, but just to see how they re imagine the original RE. And that's the point of this video.
not it's not the point of this video, bcuz in care you're unaware of, there are bunch of videos like this and their point is to show the same game on different platforms.
The pre rendered background on the Gamecube is amazing. I still remember when this game came out back in 2002. such an amazing game that holds out so well even today
It just shows the effort that was put into the Remake. Plus the added backstory for Lisa Trevor was incredible. Okay, I never played the original as I don't own the game but the REmake? It's one of my favorite games of all time.
Everyone is praising the remake, and rightfully so it is very good and faithful to the original. But that tone of the original was so much grittier. I miss that grit from old video games.
"It's an unfair comparison!" scream the morons in their droves, while completely missing the point of the video; to compare just how much had changed between the original and the remake.
Freal tho, the game is literally a remake, alot is the same but alot is added, other than graphically. The graphical upgrade made me buy a GameCube for this game alone. If it looked exactly the same, with the additions it would still be the better game tho.
People at the time believed the Gamecube had weak graphics, simply because most games released for it didn't aim to take full advantage of the hardware it had. In reality, it could flat out beat the PS2 (it was newer; so kinda cheating) and was pretty much a fair rival for the XBOX in terms of total graphical capabilities. It was largely for this reason (few games needed it) that Nintendo decided to shoot for lower power home consoles with innovative gimmicks; the Wii, the Wii U and the Switch have all followed that pattern since then (and two of those have outsold the higher-powered-for-the-time Gamecube easily; the Wii and the Switch) So Nintendo probably bet on the right horse doing that, just didn't have the right gimmicks for the Wii U. Although I do feel like Mario Maker was on to something good, but I digress
And didn’t sell well despite the gaming community’s fetish with visuals. They used that as an excuse, but what they really wanted was an alternative to Nintendo. Fanboyism and gaming politics had been the norm since the SEGA/SNES days. PS2 was the highest selling console primarily because it was also a DVD player which was relatively new tech. Why buy a DVD player when you can get a console that was almost the same price? Gamecube was dedicated to gaming and didn’t possess the vast library of games or hype, much like the previous generation. Both game have held up rather well through the years. Nintendo is finally understanding that they need to take a different route and in general it’s working.
I actually liked the classic PSX RE a bit more. Although the GC Remake is superior in almost every way, the Music and Atmosphere of the classic Version made you feel more "lonely", which I prefer. The Remake on the other hand had this "constant thread" kind of feeling to it. Both are great though.
I've played both back in the day on CRT so I don't know if that is why - however the remake version is actually unsettling, horrific, isolated, frightening true Resident Evil. The ps1 version is a cartoon, it's funny.
I believe playing the gamecube version to be more enjoyable simply because it's a remake and they fixed some issues. However, the ps1 version hold a lot of nostalgia for me. It was one of the first games I had for the system. I also believe the music to be scarier in the original.
Truly a heartfelt remake that kept the essence and improved the original without stripping it's soul or slapping together a remaster to make fast money. Bravo.
Gamecube, hands down. The original doesn't even have the Lisa Trevor secondary story, so with the remake they could've chosen not to implement it at all, but they went one step further and they did implement it. Plus, the completely remade scenario made the game even more terrifying.
harder to tell which to choose, Original, 6th Gen remaster, or 7th Gen remaster for the Xbox 360 which offers you 720p and 16:9 support. I would choose GameCube
The remake looks better definitely. But it's let down by being far more linear in cutscenes and exploration which I found extremely disappointing. The original had better music too. The voice acting neither game really set the world alight but I'll always remember "master of unlocking" "Jill sandwich" "It's Forest oh my COD".
Bit of a crap comparison, but I can't say the GC version is objectively better. I love its atmosphere, gorgeous use of pre-rendered backgrounds, most of the extension of the house, added gameplay mechanics like the crimson heads and body burning, but I don't like the added story with Lisa which feels like something from Silent Hill and not RE and rather forced into the game. I LOVE the live action cutscenes from the original too that added a lot to the realisation of the characters and wonderfully reminiscent of the movies that inspired the game. I so, so wish George Romero and Capcom had gone through with his movie version as it would've been ace. I also find the quirkiness of the originals house really engaging too, that it feels like a strange condundrum rather than a regularly used space, like you're a rat in a maze. I also actually prefer the dialogue in the original because it's goofyness is enjoyable, unlike in the remake where its more professional, but not actually better enough to be good dialogue. It's just kinda wooden without the charm of dodgy translation and no direction. Overall they're just different versions to be enjoyed for different reasons IMO.
I really loved the remake, but it has some additions and level design choices that I didn't find all that interesting. Unlike most people I didn't like Lisa Trevor's plot and I found the Crimson Head Crypt stuff a bit random and unnecessary. On the other hand, Resident Evil 1 is a masterpiece of its time and an absolute classic! Father of the survival-horror genre and one of the most influential games in the industry to date. It was totaly groundbreaking for 96. Original, creative, scary, challenging, fun, extremely immersive and well designed. Forever one of the best games of my life and one of the best Resident Evil ever made. (Probably only losing to the amazing 1998's Resident Evil 2).
daminmancejin, I couldn't decide myself which game looks better and more modern, so good I found your comment and the answer to this extremely hard question.
Ps1 its the best and the hyper zombies were much the same as crimsom heads and in the last version of ps1 they added and changed enemy and some items position, reremake its more just the grapics more big map and extra story. I hated that they left out the scary mansion music. It was all gone and just a complete silent.. The music made the game even more scarier and they left it out. So i have double feelings about the remake. It was missing the scary part the original had. If it's a succes it's not only graphics but music just as important
The production, graphics, sound between these two games is shorter in the first game, but the reason for this is that Shinji Mikami was out of the Resident Evil production because it was the reason why Shinji Mikami was in the making of the game. they have to see and watch these two games and learn a masterpiece, Resident Evil Remake!

A player who played RE3, 4, 5 and 6 asks for an advice. Are there reasons to play both RE1 original and remake, or I may only play HD remake and don't lose anything?
Do the zombie heads explode in the gamecube version? I own both but can't remember. Great comparison showing evolution of graphics. I wish both versions loaded faster with the doors. Still enjoy playing them. Didn't like the ds version because of lower resolution but you could at least skip the doors.
I don't think the remake has aged well, meanwhile the original will always be a timeless classic. Its faults is also it's charm. (Voice acting still isn't great, and is far inferior to newer games, also graphics have poorly dated.)
to be truthful to me it isn't about graphics its all about game play experience to me both of the versions are good but I would play the ps1 version just because the controls are easier, if I want better graphics i will play on the gamecube (please pin this VCDECIDE)
Im thinking of getting this resident evil the controls aren't annoying are they. I had bought resident evil 2 directors cut i took it back. The controls and handling was difficult .

One of the most underrated consoles ever IMO
I still play mine (so many good games) at least a few times a year

@@stealth7225 Its not obvious for anyone. Wii was the generation's most selled console
@@code.liplox I think it was mainly the asthetics of motion control that sold the console because it was the best new tech at the time

Esse Remake para o GameCube ficou uma verdadeira obra prima! Bons tempos que o Mikami ainda comandava a série...
Honestly, I choose the original because the voice acting and the dialogues were hilarious.
"Stay alert! Stay safe!" used to say that every time I played this with my friends.
DAMNNNN! GC HAD some SERIOUS power! for it to be that old!
Wax Doe The trick to it is the pre-rendered backgrounds ;)
The ArachnidGamer Even then, the level of detail put into the house is far more than what any other game could imagine in 2002.

I don't think the remake has aged well, meanwhile the original will always be a timeless classic. Its faults is also it's charm. (Voice acting still isn't great, and is far inferior to newer games, also graphics have poorly dated.)
PS1 still the best because is Original for 5th gen Game Cube wins because better graphics + is a 6th gen
to be truthful to me it isn't about graphics its all about game play experience to me both of the versions are good but I would play the ps1 version just because the controls are easier, if I want better graphics i will play on the gamecube (please pin this VCDECIDE)
A do Gamecube ficou excelente
Playstation 1 Forever and ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. The Best! 👍👌✌.
why is this even a comparison ???? LOL LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone knows the PlayStation has the best Voice acting :)
Adrian Bell I hope this is not CHRIS'S blood!
This comparison is aggravating since nothing is synchronized.
You must be joking.
Thiago Vidal Nope. Are you?
ussocomfreak When only synchronization matters?
The first zombie sequence is better on Playstation. I know it's fmv, but it's miles scarier!
why you used the dual shock version? that's not fair
Im thinking of getting this resident evil the controls aren't annoying are they.
I had bought resident evil 2 directors cut i took it back.
The controls and handling was difficult .
make a playlist of all consoles man
Alguien disfrutando de las sagas esta cuarentena 2020??
I hate the clock sound, because that was always creepy.
Sometimes i want to wave with my arms like they di in resident evil when I talk.
Yeah now we need RE 2 & 3 Remake for GC :3 & PC
The live action one looks so silly i love it.
Well damn I don't know which one to play first xD
