It's crazy to see them already talking about a second trilogy when in fact it was still years away from happening.
Well Lucas at this point had already written the stories for episode 1 through 3, he just started at episode 4 for reasons I cannot remember.
@@ForeverNeverwhere1 Ep 1 would have been too boring. He was a man of his word.
@@ForeverNeverwhere1 think it was to do with the special effects capabilities werent where they needed to be to be able to do the first 3
The prequels are the Star Wars story. George didn't have to resources to make them at the time. The story was never about Luke. It's always been about Anakin
@Middle Aged British Mother I know, I saw it in 1977 at the cinema, reading comprehension is not your strength, I was refering to the stories, not the movies. Even at the time it was a well known fact that Star Wars was the forth story out of 6 he wrote. I think every movie goer knew this a couple of weeks after it took off, the papers were full of it.
Very interesting. This was before they changed it to return of the Jedi instead of revenge. It was a solid change, as revenge is not very Jedi-like.
I remember the first poster that came out...it had " revenge of the Jedi on it.".
It was changed not long before release
I also remember them changing the name because the Jedi wouldn’t be into ‘revenge’ for revenge sake.
I know it isn't very jedi like but originally it was different. Luke would kill Darth Vader and then replace him and become the new leader of the sith
Blue harvest lol
She’s holding that turtle like a burger lmao
Perfect description
"I'll take a turtle, rare, thank you"
I can see the turtle sweat from here
As someone with turtles that like to bite, that's how you have to hold them. Like an angry sandwhich.
@@shahnxaoc7749 my hungry ass would take a bite 😂😂🤤😢
I could watch Mark hugging that cat all day lol, it's so pure
He's also probably high on cocaine in this clip
Don't know much about him, i randomly got recommended this. He seems like a hella chill guy though. He has a soothing voice too tbh.
@@John-mf6ky ynow the joker from the arkham games yea thats him same guy
My gosh, Carrie was so beautiful. Rest in Peace Princess
And constantly on cocaine
Carrie in her Jabba's slave outfit gave men hairy palms and could have filled a great lake with all that ejected spunk!
She was a hottie.
She was a drug addled who or
I was thinking the same thing! She was such a beautiful woman inside and out! May she rest in peace 🙏
Mark Hamil is just loving that cat
That's a great cat right there
@@nvtnvt9617 Yes it is
The cat was strong with the force and now it is apart of it.
Mark Hamil has a very calm energy about him, his tone was soothing and the gentle petting of the cat.
That kitty loves him...
How wonderfully grounded and polite they are.. oh I yearn for these days
No doubt ~
This was on Blue Peter, essentially a show for kids
People had manners back then
Rest In Peace Carrie Fisher
Yes! Also I love your George Harrison profile picture. Just had to say that, I’m a huge fan of George’s.
My God Carrie is beautiful. Mark Hamill - what a great kid. Will Never forget 1977 premier in NYC.
Neither will I...except I was in Palm Beach County, Florida lol. Family saw it on a drive in movie screen
11 yrs old...1977 I became a JEDI
What a great find...I lived in Ireland and UK from 1980 to 1989...so I missed this episode of Blue Peter....then again even at 11 I was too old for the show....but I definitely would've tuned in for this interview
No wonder Harrison was burying in that B! 😅
@@jamesfountain6183 Staffordshire, England, 1978. We had to wait until the following spring to see it.
'77 Premier in Chicago we are OG Star Wars fans 😁
Funny how this interview is closer to the release of Phantom Menace then we are now 😂
That hit hard. And that interview is closer to WW2 than to us.
EXCUSE YOU
Wow
No stop it don’t make me feel old like this
Which was shite.
Jar Jar Blinks my arse.
He was so happy talking about it and this makes it that much more sad knowing how their character’s are treated in the sequels
it is so gratifying to see Luke, I mean Mark, being snarky about the new movies and getting applauded for it by Star Wars fans. That man loved his role and how much joy it brought to people. He was excited to enrich the world with some more Luke, but he got conned
I remember being 10 years old and there was a rumor that there were going to be at least 3 more star wars movies. We were so excited but didn't realize it would be 20 years until it happened
Mad that
Get fhucked lol
Actually George Lucas said he would do the prequels 30 years later
Not perfect, but a legendary prequel series too🙌
Time is relevant.
Blink and there it was.
I just love how that cat is burrowing into Mark Hamill like there's no tomorrow. Crushingly adorable!
Carrie Fisher a beautiful woman sadly missed RIP. ❤
although still around, so is Sarah Greene!
@@PianoDentist She died in 2016.
@@PianoDentist she passed… what are you on about.
@@PianoDentist and Sarah Greene has nothing to do with this lol what is she even being brought up for she was like just being born around the time of this interview… she might not have been born yet actually…
@@CaptainRockoBD Sarah Greene: the presenter of Blue Peter (old UK kids TV show) this clip is from that show. Sarah was also a beautiful woman, but is still alive.
I was eliciting a response from UK viewers of a certain age, who grew up on UK TV during the late 70's and 80's, who might have not noticed her as the presenter in this clip!
I expect you're thinking of a different Sarah Greene.
Something really wholesome about this
just a casual conversation between a brother and a sister(before they knew they were siblings)
@@CaptVII sweet home al- sorry I'll stop
Mark is so earnest and chill. I suppose since it was a kids show in the 80s
That cat hiding his head away in Mark’s elbow is the cutest thing
It's trying to block the bright studio lights from its eyes. It probably very tired from the sedatives they gave it.
@@pstrap1311 can you just let the man enjoy the cute cat bro, relax
Wow Carrie looks so mature and gorgeous here. She's only 23 at this point in time. Huge crush! 😍 💓
19 when first movie was made….
@@SnowDaulphin Isn't this in 1980?
@@humanbeing4841 I think you are correct on both points….i only just added to your comment
I'm still waiting for the Revenge of the Jedi, guys.
The name was changed so late on in post-production, that there are posters made with the title “Revenge of the Jedi”
@@TimInTheSim I may be wrong, but I think some of the merchandise was advertised as "Revenge" before the movie came out. I know the Biba Fett figure seemed to be advertised for ages beforehand Not sure if any products actually made it onto the shelves with that on though.

"The young Alec Guinness character"
Hello there!
I still love that they refer to obi Wan as "Alec Guinness character"
Carrie Fisher is just glowing there, so beautiful!!!
Hit that.
Carrie Fisher was so gorgeous 😍
It's so calming to watch Mark Hamill gently stroking a cat while talking about his art.
His art? He's talking about movies that were in the vaguest planning stages by completely other people than those in the room.
I love the chemistry on the set between the two Carrie and Mark are/were treasures
Carrie Fisher looks gorgeous here
Totally agree
how wholesome is Mark? Such a gentle soul
I remember watching this in the 80s!
Carrie’s smile was pretty near perfect.
Mark sounded so polite. A great inspiration for all.
Mark's so fresh, who would of thought he would voice the Joker 🃏
It's amazing how many characters he's voiced that I had no idea about. Looking through his voice acting career is nuts.
Wow, Carrie Fisher was absolutely stunning 😍 beautiful
And a FANTASTIC writer. If you've not read her stuff, you should check it out
Back then when actors actually behaved like normal people when not playing a role....
And they don’t do that now?
@@ILikeSwords nah it’s just a lot of pandering for sympathy. And thinking they’re the next coming if Jesus and that they know best.
That still happens today. A small handful are different, just like back then when a small handful were different
@@hunterthompson7605 There are like millions of actors my dude they're not all acting this way lol
Hamill does feel more real and earnest than most celebrities but that's probably because it's a kids show in the early 80s. Imagine if they did Captain America in the 80s with Mark Hamill though. Can't stop seeing it
Look how they dress and speak.
It's so damn wholesome.
Imagine UA-cam being like this, it'd be world peace.
It's Brady bunch style.
Your username is WargameProductions, but are talking about wholesomeness and world peace. Is this intended irony? Also, that dude seems like a serial killer, through and through. The cat petting, the cadence and timbre of his voice, and that little laugh at the end. He's definitely murdered someone before.
@@youtubenoob his comment at the end made think its a kid show, hence the goody goody behavior
Love this clip. I remember watching it as a small boy. Note the early title with "Revenge" in title, before it changed to "Return", to make it sound less aggressive. It dates it to 1980-82
That would tarnish their rebel scum image.
I know the community now likes the prequels. But when I listen to this I get so excited for what could have been and sad about what we got :/
It’s crazy seeing Mark and Carrie so young again just on a normal talk show
I know it’s been mentioned 100 times already, but Carrie was so cute. Always thought she was a doll.
Unless you were there . You will never know the insane popularity that was those 70s and 80s films. Historic.
I was there and most people had not got a clue what was coming down the pipe until it was already in the cinema.
No Google back then.
My god! They are so young!
But so was I, then 😥

Mark is such a chill, pleasant dude.
"And then, when we're ancient, we'll take the original trilogy and take a huge dump all over it". Classic Star Wars.
😂😂
Such a wholesome pair. Mark is so charming here.
Oh! 😞
I miss Carrie.
Salute to Carrie!
Salute to Alec Guinness too!!!
A dark day in the force 😞
May the Force be with you always!!!
May the Force guide you forever!!!
Saddens me to see past Mark knowing what awaits him. He was truly dedicated to Star Wars & the fans.
Was Mark practising for a role of Blofeld that never eventuated?
Nice to see a UA-cam short taking place circa 1980.
Sometimes a cat is just a cat.
@@willpeony5534 sometimes a smartass will emerge in the comments. Not often you see a celeb with a cat on a set. Home maybe but not in a studio.
Nonsense...
He obviously just really admired Don Corleone.
Carrie said the original title for 1983 StarWars and Mark mentioned about the prequels that will be starting on 1999. This is so great and also about the movie that Mark is saying with young Luke.
Sarah Greene always so beautiful
She looks like Golem next to Fisher.

Mark Hamil has a very calm energy about him, his tone was soothing and the gentle petting of the cat.
She was so freaking cute!!! I had the biggest crush on her as a little boy.
I love how patient and sweet Mark was with the interviewer. Seems like a good guy.
The young Alec Guiness character 😂😂
They are forever etched in time & space. Good for you Mark Hamile, your a true actor & survivor!
Why is anybody talking about how he is holding and loving a little kitty?!
Best part.
She was so beautiful
Mark has such a smoth calm voice.
Mark Hammil, and his character Luke Skywalker was done almost as cruel as the MCU's Incredible Hulk!
Oh, he was done much worse. They took a Mickey Mouse and Superman level character, and tarnished him.
It's him holding and stroking the cat so sweetly that does it for me 😻
How do you know you're old? You remember someone telling you (in the school playground, probably) that Star Wars was actually the 4th film, but they made it first and that they were now going to make 2 more sequels and _THEN_ make the first 3 movie prequels!!!! ..... and it took over 37 years for them to be proven right!
More like 20 years nor 37. This interview was in 1980, 20 years later the phantom menace would have already been and gone from theatres. 20 years after the original (1997), episode 1 would have been filming or at-least pre-production and it would have been widely known it was being made.
@@gregorybeynon6448 I was counting from the time I was told (1977) to when the last of the prequels was made (2005) ..so I should have actually said 27 years, not 37
Very high quality interview from 39-40 years ago talking about the Clone wars. They probably had a little bit more to the story than we did lol
His facial scars in the 3rd film were actually real because he survived a gnarly car accident sometime after this.
You mean second film.
Mark and the cat just made my week. Thank you.
Carrie fisher wasn’t a dime she was a whole damn dollar.
Carrie Fisher is such an underrated actor, author, and comedian. RIP Carrie.
Carrie Fisher was about to eat a 🐢 tortoise.
By her own admission she was high as a kite for most of that time. "I vaguely remember being on a British TV show and they gave me this really crunchy burger..."
Mark Hamill petting that cat has always been so wholesome
Omg talking about the prequels waaaaay back then??!
Beautiful innocence…
Damn rip Carrie so hot
Amazing to see these 2 huge Hollywood actors on blue Peter
That cat's hiding his face at the mention of the prequels
I adored the prequels as a kid and they still hold a special place in my heart. Jar Jar rules and I won't hear otherwise.
When I was kid. He was my hero. Strange how much time goes by and yet in our heads, it's like yesterday.
I can’t imagine the suspense they held everyone in for over 20 years
There was an entrepreneur who made a tonne of merchandise with "revenge" instead of "return". Begged George Lucas to keep the old name but was not in the spirit of the Jedi.
It’s amazing to see how George thought of how he was going to do the prequels while they were still not even filming RoTJ yet
Oh Carrie Fisher 😍
I remember seeing the first Star Wars in the theater when it came out.
I remember sometime in the 80s reading a magazine at a bookstore, when bookstores were on every corner. And I remember reading as a kid about the fight on the lava planet between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Then roughly 22 years later it actually comes true. I wished I knew the name of the periodical magazine at the time but I don’t remember it. But it laid out the detail battle scene on the lava planet, Mustafá. At the time I could’ve been maybe 10 or 11 years old thinking “ that is awesome, they need to make a movie about this“. This was a time when Star Wars a new Hope did not have an episode number to it. And the Empire strikes back was already in theaters in it I believe had an episode number. I also remember reading in there about the clone wars. But he didn’t mention anything about Darth Sidious or the emperor be in control both sides of the war. It was described as to warring forces in the galaxy and the “bad guys“ won the war by killing the Jedis. That’s all it mentioned. If anybody around 50 to 55 years old can remember reading that in a magazine, please let me know what that magazine’s title was.
I love the cat and the dog, this is an excellent format for an interview
After this interview, Hamill was acting in a movie called Corvette Summer and had a horrific accident . In that accident , Hamill smashed his face against a car steering wheel. The facial damage and the psychological damage profoundly changed his path of life after that as well as the opening scene of the next Star Wars movie.
That kitten cuddled up in his arms is the cutest thing I've ever seen
After Return of the Jedi came out there were always rumors of the prequels ,this was the mid 80s and I remembered that very clearly
Nobody talking g about how that cat was just burrowing into him absolutely in love with the pets. That cat takes a good pet right there.
not Mark Hamill subtly auditioning for Blofeld throughout the interview
Wow! It give me goosebumps hearing them talking about the Star Wars prequels. They shouldn't have wait that long!
God, this feels like forever ago and yet at the same time, just the other day.
One word "mental" I was born in 1984 and crazy they knew the future ! Childhood!

All three of them were so charming in interviews
Aww good times. See how much respect These people share
