@@morelukeplayz6953 i dont think it was on purpose theyve just made the taskbar from scratcg
@@frostyjeff did it really have to be remade though
@@21stsavage95 kind of yes they have to because windows 10 was very slow to be honest rest i would say nothing there is made from scratch they have to reuse some code and refresh with one ones ( i'm a developer)
At this rate we might have a fully usable os by 2024!
Watch out. Maybe they will do a win10-move and on 2026 they will introduce win12
@@Appoxo and then the perpetual cycle of life continues on....
@@Appoxo They already said they were planning to release win12 by 2024.

@@MicahIsBatman2 bruh, 11 is only getting a 3 year lifespan? That's so lame.
4:27 those numbers for Win+Z let you press that number on the keyboard to activate the given group. It asks you once to select a group of tiles, then to select the final tile from the group to drop the window into. This makes it so that you don't have to use the mouse to snap a window at all.
5:38 the top-most icon in the hamburger menu (to the left of the app icon) collapses and expands the menu.
I just tried the Hamburger Icon on top and its super buggy for me. collapsing works fine, but when extending it takes like one to two seconds (I guess there should be an animation but that is bugged and so it jumps from fully collapsed to extended with a delay)
@@DEZK90 Resolved in 25211.1010, I assume that will come in the october update
@@aoiyu_ I'm on 25217.1010 and it's still doing that delay when toggling the menu.
I think it's the fact that WinUI / XAML Island can't properly animate Win32 content, so it has to snap it from one place to the other in a weird way.
Ive switched some time in the late life cycle of Windows 10 to Linux and ever since I keep track of what Microsoft is doing and I'm more and more glad about my decision, lol
I switched back in 2016 when Ubuntu still had their unity desktop. But at any rate I’m very glad I did. Windows is becoming an absolute clusterfuck
@@roccociccone597 Yes, absolutely, lol
I switched exclusively to Linux after using Windows 10 for years. I don't have the hardware requirements for Windows 11, and even when I eventually do, I may or may not duel boot.
Same, I use arch btw

Just went back to 10 after using windows 11 since the developer beta. I've held out until now, but there just so much stuff that's worse than 10. Miss the animations and sounds already, but that's a small compromise to get a more reliable operating system.
it's more reliable?? btw are there any app incompatibilities left
@@aurytis11 ive never noticed any personally
@@aurytis11 I've had problems with some games, quite a lot of vr problems, and a driver issue here and there. There's also some programs I have to use for my education that barely works on windows 11
Hmm I don't think I ever want to move back to Windows after switching to macOS. macOS is not perfect by any means but I do believe it's much better in some parts than windows
Any Windows upgrade brings back old bloatware and new one. I dream of an upgrade process where you are prompted with a checkbox list of software you might want (or not) to install. And maybe add a description. This way users wouldn't feel fooled, upgrades would require less time and bandwidth, and overall the slight empowerment would mean that users would care more for their Windows OS
didn't Microsoft already do that with all the tick boxes of how much Microsoft could snoop at you the user, and all you data too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Like it used to be in Windows 3.x, 95 and 98, where you had literally the option to turn on and off Windows components before installing them.
All this is making me look forward to the launch of windows 12 so much more! When windows 12 launches, not only will we still have windows 11 working hard to be almost as good as windows 10, but we will be breathless with anticipation to see if Windows 12 will also take years to be almost as good as windows 11. I look forward to the future with great hope when windows 13 comes out and we’ll have even more to look forward to with great hope.
I gave up hope and switched to Linux Mint.
@@TH3C001 Good for you!

I have a Dell XPS 13 that came with 11, which is nice to use as a little tester of the OS while my desktop stays at 10. I've actually been holding off of upgrading the desktop specifically for Start folders - I use them quite extensively to hop very quickly into important apps. Now that they've added them in, I'm considering upgrading, but I feel like I still don't quite trust it enough. It's easier to see it as a laptop OS than a full fledged desktop OS. This update does bring it slightly closer though.
As someone who uses it because it's fun to mess around in, it's nice to have some stuff back. I personally really like the new look even though it's just styling over windows 10. Unfortunately, I think this update broke Terraria for a bit but playing multiplayer has said to fix it.
How does the explorer still not have tabs. Literally every file browser on Linux has this function and it feels like I’m going back to the Stone Age every time I have to use windows explorer.
Apparently they will in their first "moment" update between now and December (or something, uncertain on the timeframe).
@@DrewTNaylor I’ve heard this lie before. It’s not that bloody difficult either. They already redesigned the header bar. The explorer is abysmal anyway. It’s unstable and crashes way to often
@@roccociccone597 My point is that they're apparently working on it for real this time, rather than trying to have Edge put tabs on (almost) everything.
@@roccociccone597 The insider builds already have file explorer tabs. Just wait for them to polish it and to release it to the stable, they can't just immediately release a buggy feature without fine tuning it.
@@thebestgamer5248 “they can’t make a buggy feature and release it”. Then what was windows 11 at launch? It still is at any rate
It really feel like they took the Nintendo route on this one, releasing an unfinished product and slowly adding in features that should have been there since the beginning
They've been doing it since windoze 8
BROOO thankyou so much, this really helped and the tutorial was really easy to use as well :)
I love how you put this video together - informative and straight to the point while sharing your own experience and being impartial at the same time. I also appreciate the resources you have put in the description.
Personally am quite skeptical if I should upgrade to Win11 - I have received the notification from MS saying that my device is compatible with it. I think I might upgrade and play around with it for a couple of days; I'll update y'all later.
UPDATE: I just installed Win11, and let me tell you: it is worth installing it. It runs smooth, it is very practical and it's less "bulky" than Win 10. I totally recommend it.
Agreed. Only wrong thing is HOW YOU DONT DO THE CENTERED TASK BAR LIKE THAT, YOU STILL PUT THE WINDOWS BUTTON ON THE LEFT IF ITS CENTERED..
@@Spiderfffun Lmao, you can fix it. Just right click on the taskbar and then click on "Bar Settings", then look for the option "Position" or something.

This tutorial is amazing and you are really good at teaching !! great job sir !
I might consider upgrading to Windows 11 now that some things that ruin user experience is now somewhat better. I don't plan on upgrading right away since I see no urgency to upgrade other than the slow eventual discontinuation of Windows 10, other than that, I think Windows 11 is on the right track - took them a year though.
On the right track to achieve what exactly? My god even Windows 7 was better, they're just going downwards.
Don't waste your time my guy. I literally just reinstalled W10 because W11 was so bad.
BROTHER, YOU ARE THE BEST!!! You oooh really helped me!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
May I ask how long does it take to update this new features of windows 11? Thank you!
I'll stick to Windows 10 Pro and eventually move to a flavor of Linux, maybe Pop!OS.
Did they also change the selected file icon in the explorer detail bar to show when you have multiple files selected in this update? I noticed it looked kinda nice when I click and drag a selection box over multiple files and they pop up on the right stacked on top of one another like that.
I have just updated four of my machines to 22H2 and I do not have any issues. The contrary, everything works at least as well, if not smoother.
Now I am looking for the new features that might be useful for me.
This is still not enough for me as a power user. It feels like going from W7 to Windows 8.
It's dumbed down and not great for daily power use.
what do you mean with "power use"?
@@Brotyx Like for example the file explorer:
I need to open files (e.g. pdfs) is 3 different programs. I requires many more clicks to do it now.
Also, sorting files became more convoluted.
@@remirms2239 so basically, you mean an advanced user? I never got around to use Windows 7, in what ways was it superior to Windows 8 and 10?
Solution: use Linux for daily power use instead. :)
I've been using Windows all my life, but after making the switch a few months ago, Linux has been a much better power user experience with all the tools it gives and better performance it offers for recursive file searches and whatnot. So much can be done in the terminal alone. You can do GPU passthrough virtualization (or just a dual boot) when you need to play games since that's like the only thing not fully supported.
It's weird to me to see these features get released, yet I'm already used to them thinking other have them too.
I also do run the dev insider build. Pretty nice with crashing being rare.
wow it in detail works! Very good job
Efficiency Mode is nice and all but still no option to suspend the process from the Task Manager.
Among Microsoft Insiders the most frequently made complaint is the taskbar being stuck at the bottom. Many users need the taskbar to be on the left or top of the screen. I am one of them and keep telling MS they need to fix this.
I've experienced a lot of bugs with the drag and drop features
Would you consider hardware reasons a good reason to upgrade even if I want to stay on 10? Considering that even on 10, I relied on Openshell, would you consider these still valid or... not really? Using tools to add in old features is just sort of a given for me, as a result.
Honestly, in my experience, Windows 11 already used up more RAM than 10. (3.5 GB instead of 2.5 GB) Not much else to say, the others depend on your system.
@@ItsZedK 700MB of RAM in idle on my Linux Mint, I couldn't reach 3.GB of RAM even with loads of browser tabs open ahaha
I am using windows 11 for about a year now and only now noticed that I never used the start menu for anything besides searching in that time
Can you do a review of the Start11 program for windows?
I love the idea of the start menu grouped apps. This will help a lot of people like gamers keep their desktops from being overcrowded
Agree. I had pinned apps all over and it was a chore to find them. I'd keep games, utilities and creative pins generally in the same area but this is much better.
I would like to update to Windows 1122H2 however, I haven’t received the update in the Settings app.
I am completely blind, is it safe to update to the new version using the installation of the Windows download page?
I’ve never done that before, I’ve always updated to a new version through Settings.
Also, are there any improvements to Microsoft’s screen reader called narrator with the new update of windows?
I'm running Windows 11 in a VM just for testing. I'm just not ready to let go of Windows 10 yet. I feel like it isn't quite good enough yet...
Well, I know I'm not the only one. At 4:09 when the window was moved a black bar dropped down from the top of the screen. Not the "snap layout updates" graphic. Ever since 22H2 that bar drops down whenever a window is moved. There is no infomation about why, what it does or its purpose.
he literally explains it right after, if you move the tab towards the black bar you can snap it into the layouts seamlessly
@@shaunfernandes1767 Thank you. I did not know he was talking about the bar.
The numbers on the window presets are there for keyboard users. If it still works the same, alt + z to bring it up, the number and number to select zone
Win + z not alt z. Saw another comment. Either changed or I just recalled incorrectly
Is Clipchamp also offline restricted on Windows 11 Pro? Cuz with Win 11 Pro you do not need to login with your Microsoft account?
I'm just about to buy my first laptop and I can't decide between a Ryzen 5 5600h with windows 10 or and Intel i511400H with windows 11 help
The W11 is a gimmick. It's more obvious with every update. Enderman has some great videos about it. You can restore W10 UI with just a few registry edits. W11 is nothing more than just W10 skin with LESS features. Nicely looking OS that shows its true colors the minute you actually try to do some real work on it. And full of messy code under the hood.
yes and windows 10 is just windows 7 but uglier. and windows 7 is just windows vista. in the end windows is still MS-DOS but with a gui that changes every once in a while.
@@mr_mustache5594 ok but actually tho. given Windows' design philosophy with backward compatibility, it basically is LOL
I’m surprised you haven’t ran into the davinci resolve issues with the new 22h2. Rendering is worse and slower than ever and the sound cuts out on certain a clips when on the timeline.
Oh, well then I have. That’s exactly the issue I had while making this video, but I didn’t give it thought as a 22h2 related thing. Because I was able to fix it by just generating proxy media for the affected clips, I just thought it was a Resolve glitch or something.
Why Microsoft is so obsessed with vertical tabs? Look how much space is wasted in the task manager compared to the older version. Sure, you can collapse them, keeping only icons, but what benefits does it provide over horizontal tabs with text, where you don't need to make those compromises?
probably cause they're slam targets.
if you just move your mouse right you can immediately access them, unlike with the top ones, where you bring your mouse to the top, and then down. also they just look nice.
They want to make it mobile friendly for their Touchscreen Laptops
5:36 there is a menu icon by the task manager logo
No idea why, but been waiting on the new Task Manager ever since Dave's Garage channel showed it off early... Otherwise I have honestly not felt any change in my workflow since switching over to Win11. While certainly some features went missing (such as the dragging files to import) I noticed that pretty much everything that was not there were things that I (and from MS gathered data the vast majority of power users) didn't even bother using most of the time and maybe on occasion did because I don't know... One hand was pre-occupied to press alt tab or something...
They'll also add tabs for File Explorer in October, I'm waiting for that.
The only thing (excluding the here mentioned features) I dislike is the new context menu and how the old is hidden. Just another useless click :|
@@ThePowerRanger ok that might be what makes me finally make the move to win11, it's ridiculous that the file explorer doesn't have tabs in 2022, would be nice if they also added split mode
@@Appoxo well this is why i use some regedit workarounds to just only show old ones
ExplorerPatcher still working here to being back the Win7/8/10 style taskbar and start menu for free. The pinned start menu folders might be handy on touchscreen devices but I'd never give them a second look on a desktop.
The update messed with my default user on WSL. Also it removed all my default app settings. It's the first time an update does that on my system so it was more annoying than really bad
Tried it, but reverted back to the earlier version, as the ribbon hack no longer works in File Explorer, and you’re stuck with the newly designed, minimalist menu. I suspect this is in preparation for the tabbed Explorer, but I’d like the option to choose between the two. I much prefer the ribbon.. the new design is awful.
Windows 11 will probably be good around the time they are releasing the Windows 12.
Can you set Combine when taskbar is full yet.
Anyway to get the file icons from win 10 back?? Juts as u said, that was peak design!!
I uodated in my omen 15.. and after update cursor stated to lag.. is there any fix for that?
When will this update go live? I dont have it.
Windows 10 used to have something like Windows Movie Maker built into the photos app. I used it to make a few videos for my channel. I don't remember what it was called, but oh well.
Man I love your videos
I lividly hate everything about the look of Windows 11. The first thing I did was to shove that start menu back where it belongs, on the left. Second was to install WindowBlinds11, to address the borderless window frames, and task bar. Third thing was to install Open Shell, to address the start menu. Fourth thing to do was find a nice theme, like Experience, on the WindowBlinds 11 site, and lastly, was to find a good high res wallpaper of the Blis image. Next on my list of to-dos, will be to get back the 3D folders we had from XP, up to 10. In it's stock form, Win 11 just looks like an unfinished product, full of uninteresting placeholders where proper start menu, window frames, and taskbar should be. It's ugly and looks like a tablet OS, that wants to run on a desktop. LOL Thanks for sharing this.
Took them more than a year to re-add these basic features?
I stayed on win 10 because I just didn't feel like upgrading
Might consider doing it now

I really appreciate the update! For the first time since initial launch of Windows 11 I can now print using my Canon printer without rebooting each time! There are other not so obvious updates which really stabilise the whole system. However, what is not welcome is a message I have received from Microsoft, days after the update, asking me to approve a range of actions, one of which I strongly object to. To explain - I am almost 81 years old and I have a fully registered copy of Microsoft Office less than 2 years old which is more than adequate for my needs. I do NOT need to install Office 365 and all the accompanied monthly charges for Cloud space etc., which I clearly do not want. Therefore I can't positively accept all of the improvements as the Office 365 subscription seems to be an integral part of the package !!!

Given how much less functional the taskbar is in 11 vs 10 and prior, I have to imagine they reimplemented it from scratch. That would make sense, especially if it hadn't been built from scratch since Windows 95! Certainly, Mac OS 9 was more functional than was Mac OS X when it first came out. Missing functionality trickled in over time, and that appears to be happening here now as well.
does updating to the new version remove any data I have on my C drive ?
Obviously not, it's just a big update.
thank you
Just wondering one thing: Why the name? What does H have to do with anything? H would have fit for month if it was 2 months ago...
Well they used to do a major update twice a year, the first was done in the first half of the year (April) and the release had the 1H designation to indicate the first half of the year. The second update (October) had the 2H designation indicating it was the second half of the year update. Since they’re only doing a major update once a year now, there is no longer a need for the 1H and 2H designation.
They really need more task bar options like alot! I cant even move my taskbar to my main display and it doesn't scale well if your using nvidia surround like some people have to if your using more than one display. but surround should be built into widows to in my opinion. it does not even reset it self properly when you click reset. and its always moving as I'm trying to use my games and apps that require different resolutions and scaling options. its so annoying I had to install 3ed party windows tweeker app and go back to win 10 task bar. i keep hoping there going to fix it I an update but here we are like you said in 2023 and still not even working taskbar it's really freking rediculous.
Still not resizable start menu and still no option to remove recommendations completely...
6:47 - ClipChamp would be fine if things like DaVinci Resolve didn't exist. Maybe it's ok if you have next to zero video editing experience, but even then, it'd be better to spend a day figuring out DaVinci rather than paying for the full ClipChamp version.

The one thing keeping me from getting windows 11 is that there aren't any animations for switching virtual desktops. Is it really that hard to add a simple sliding animation like they have in windows 10?
How about:
- START MENU. I can’t click on the icon of the program, player, folders, etc. and see the last opened files and I can't pin any of them. It was the only reason for me for using Start menu, was better in WIN 10, now I can't do that in WIN 11, I can do the same with last opened files in taskbar, if I pin the program.
- THE VOLUME. When pressing the volume icon, I can use a wheel of a mouse to adjust the volume, or rather I can, but only in the horizontal area of the volume line, but if I move cursor anywhere else one pixel - I can't change a volume. In Windows 10, I can have the cursor anywhere for changing the volume with a mouse wheel. There is a plus, in Windows 11, if you put your cursor on the volume icon (without pressing), you can change the volume, but again, if it is in the tiny frame of this volume icon, and the minus is - it shows me too many letters, The name of the sound device and only at the end or in the middle - the volume percentage.
22H2 much better than previous
Sorry for my English.
Did they take the spyware out and make it secure?
I have not have had to many problems with 22h2 but I did tweak it and did some changes but you know,. No OS is perfect. But if you do tweaks on your own and shut some things that you do not want in your computer and they bloat it with apps it will help in some good ways but the 22H2 I do love the Changes but this is just the Start till the Next OS System coming out.
