For those who do not know, America said to Iraq that we have no objection if it invaded Kuwait, and after the invasion, America said, “What is this Kuwait? We must liberate it.” Also, Kuwait was taking Iraq’s oil illegally, and America told the Iraqi army and threatened it, if it did not withdraw, it would attack it, and the Iraqi army withdrew from Kuwait. America struck the withdrawing forces because they were easy targets. After that, it struck Iraq, and worse than that, it struck factories in Iraq that had no connection to the army, such as sugar factories, mills, canning factories, petrochemical factories, etc. And after the fall of Saddam, it did not contribute. America helped rebuild Iraq, and even appointed corrupt politicians because it did not want stability in Iraq. The President of Iraq demanded America’s exit in 2014, and America left, but it supported ISIS after that, so that Iraq would be forced to allow the Americans to build military bases inside it. We in Iraq, our demand is to partner with China in a way Chinese silk because it will contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq. We give China oil and it contributes to the reconstruction of Iraq. Iraq partnered with China, but America did not like that and incited the Iraqi people through its fake flags to demonstrate against this project. The prime minister who wanted to partner with China was overthrown because America wants oil for itself. Also, the antiquities of Iraq were stolen by Britain, Germany, France, and America........ We are not against the people of America, but against this... American government .
Still, ISIS militants are fully responsible for what they had done & what they had become. Being trespassed isn’t a justification for becoming so evil.
You’re understating what we actually did to Iraq and to the Middle East in general. The US hasn’t just “trespassed” or whatever, they’re destroyed countries, killed hundreds of thousands of people, and committed countless war crimes against civilians. We’ve murdered journalists, bombed mosques and hospitals, and tortured anyone we think is a terrorist. We’ve toppled democratically elected leaders and harm the people living there. Groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda are evil, but they were created as a response to American imperialism. What those groups have done is nothing compared to the atrocities committed by the American military over the past several decades.

@@joedenathan4775 A favorable oil deal was a pretty big deal in the first half of 2000; remember the oil crisis of 1970; many things changed since then; the production of oil by the US; the price of oil and the price of oil extraction. It all changed now. And honestly, I don't think anybody was thinking that this war is going to cost 1t in 2003 and will go on for around 20 years in one way or another. I am an Iraqi residing in Iraq, and I was not a supporter of Saddam Hussein, nor did I ever belong to the Baath Party. It is known that during the era of Saddam, if anyone belonging to Al-Qaeda was arrested, the authorities would execute him, and this is a position completely opposed to Al-Qaeda .One of America's primary goals was to destroy the Iraqi army because it was classified as the fourth strongest army in the world, and it did not want the oil regions to be strong and armed in order to always remain under American control, which would ensure the continued flow of oil to them and control the oil market.
No, America wanted another strong pro-American Arab state to counter Iran (just like the Saudis, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, etc.). They legitimately just didn't think Iraq was going to tore itself up after Saddam was gone.
Not quite accurate. The foolish idea was that by getting rid of Saddam Hussein, the US could install a democratic republic in Iraq which would be an ally against Iran and a model for prosperity in all of Arabia. It could use the oil revenue to create popular prosperity in a free society. That was the idea anyways. There is plenty of historical evidence for this now. But two pieces of evidence you might remember: (1) the failed attempt to set up a new government was made first priority. (2) The US very quickly returned control of the oil fields back to Baghdad. There's rarely any good geopolitical reason to deliberately weaken a country AFTER an invasion. It's always better to strengthen them in a way that helps the invading power pursue its regional interests. In this case, the US interest was to try to create a model nation for a new way forward in the middle east - and to contain Iran. But the way they pursued those goals was full of errors. I'm sure there's some blame which certain Iraqis deserve as well - if they were in a position to influence the outcome. Certainly those Iraqis who continued to fight after the war was lost are responsible for their part in the failure. The US very clearly didn't actually want to be a colonial power. They wanted to leave quickly. But George W Bush was a fool. When someone in Baghdad threw a shoe at him, it was a well-deserved insult. He was one of the worst US leaders in modern times. Very ineffective.
@@8is This "America wants the oil" line is overplayed and excessively simplistic. So is the idea - bizarre and backwards - that US foreign policy aims to weaken countries through war. You might bomb a regime to weaken it. But you don't invade a country and try to install a new government to weaken it. This is is nonetheless very popular in the Middle East. It's a shame people have such a hard time understanding geopolitics, isn't it? I understand why. But I wish it were different

Yes, but the lack of evidence for WMDs was painfully evident at the time. I literally wrote about it as a high-school sophomore in 2002 and accurately predicted that there would be no WMDs and it would strengthen Iran (I totally didn't see ISIS coming at any point).
@@leoperez6737 iraq and iran are rivals. iran can't be a great power because iraq was in the way. but when the us invaded iraq and turn iraq into a failed state, this gives a chance for iran to be a great power in the near future. the us which is THE military power is still being a barrier for iran, but only for now. the us has become an oil exporter, and is becoming much more isolationist as it's entering a second cold war. meaning the us is leaving the middle east soon. even though the us is a major part of why the middle east has become very unstable, it's also a reason why the middle east still somehow exist to this day. and now as the us eventually doesnt care about the middle east anymore, this gives Iran which is arming to become a great power free to reign, as it's main rival iraq is practically in all means dead. other states like saudi arabia is also in a crisis so will be a soft target for iran. israel won't care since they're in the other side too. virtually the only barrier that iran might face is turkey. so yeah the answer is basically that the downfall of Iraq and the us pressence have given iran time and factors to possibly become THE power of the middle east.

@Ooki Cooki Yes, I know about the Iran-Iraq war. That doesn't make Saddam Hussein a Hitler-like figure. The difference is, Saddam committed those atrocities while he was on the US's good side, including use of chemical weapons on Iranians, and massacre of the Kurds in Northern Iraq. After Saddam was on the US's bad side, I doubt that he would have been much of a threat to the West. Maybe that's untrue. I'll let you be the judge of that.
@Ooki Cooki Whether or not that is the case, it is up to the citizens of those countries which provide military aid and such for the perpetration of atrocities to do something about it to the extent that they have that ability. If you are an American, you should be worried about what are the consequences of your actions (or inaction) primarily. To the extent that you can do something about it, like putting pressure on your government, you are responsible for the level of your inaction and/or active participation in your government's atrocities. The true story of how the Mujahideen were armed by the CIA to fight the Russians (see Charlie Wilson’s War for reference) and then left high and dry (should have listened to Charlie) and they became Al Qaeda. As an Iraqi, that was just 10 years old during the invasion, you have no idea how painful this was to watch, I felt my heart getting broken into million pieces, our lives got destroyed because of one stupid mistake from people drunk on power and wanting to prove themselves as "saviors". If there is a god, and if there is hell, I sure hope that each and everyone that was part of this war to burn in hell for all eternity, the U.S government and military is responsible for all of the atrocities that happened and keep happening till this day, and I hope I can see them one day paying for all of their crimes.
The invasion was not a mistake, it was deliberate so they could destroy and destabilize Iraq for its oil and its immense oil wealth as well as to stop Saddam from selling oil in Euros which was good for Iraq because Iraqis were getting 15% greater pay for a barrel of oil, but bad fro the US, because it affected the petrodollar (which the US economy heavily relies on) and would take out value off the US dollar; in a nutshell, the American economy would be in tatters because Iraq dropped the dollar and is trading in the Euros. God is real and so as Hell and the ones who took part and were responsible for the invasion will pay an ultimate price.

You can’t possibly fathom how it feels watching this and thinking about what my life could’ve been if they haven’t done that to my country. Setting aside all the horrible terror we experienced as a child, they destroyed us, destroyed our lives and our parents' lives, messed up our future and ambitions, and we are now being called terrorists? Everywhere I go they turn me down when I mention I’m an Iraqi at work and all else. What have I done man? Are these the rulers of the world? Destroying their own homes, killing their people, saying it was a terrorist organization, cluelessly tying that organization to a poor and weak country, invading them under the message of “freeing its people”, keep fighting so you don’t look bad, and give up with an ultimate carnage as the result, and being defeated? And they can sleep? One day. Nothing else, but that day when they are shaking in the shrine of God and repenting for all they did.
They won't be repenting but they will be seeing their defeat soon No longer is American military totally dominant It is most powerful but it is not dominant anymore

@@MineAppleKhan Yes, they didn't. It's not like you can take resources from a sovereign country if you decide to. That certain country decides, by itself to sell oil to you. I don't think getting a favourable oil deal was worth 1 trillion dollars in the eyes of Bush admin. You people oversimplify US foreign to such amazing lengths, it blows my mind.
That being said; yeah; it is true; oil wasn't the deciding factor; it was only the cherry on top.
If you look into the evidence actually; I can't see much of a reason for the Iraq war except the need of the government to show a decisive action after an attack to satisfy the public. Exactly what this video suggests.
Anything else, like oil and geopolitical reasons, seem only to be additional factors.

@@zenabahmed4221 you called?
Vox is doing a disservice when it speaks to a Western audience and doesn't accurately portray their own complicity and responsibility and that of their past, current and future governments.

I've seen a few videos about American soldiers from that time, expressing their own feelings of betrayal and disgust towards their own government for the lies they were told.

As a Taiwanese who has been into American, I was shocked by this whole true story. I didn't know this is how U.S. government works until now. I'm sorry for Iraq people. I truly wish all of you have happy and safe lives!
From Iraq, I love Taeyeon. I hope you live in peace
Now us is getting ready to destroy Taiwan
@@LexyDesperado I have Taiwanese friends. They belive USA is their friend. They totally don't understand that usa need wars, coz they make and sell weapons. USA don't need peace, it's bad for buisness.
and now u know you guys never trust US
Taiwan's media won't tell you the truth as well.
"Why did this is huge thing happen??"
"So basically there was this one guy..."
Bush
Pentagon: we have just been attacked by al quedi in afghanistan!
George bush: we must retaliate against the afghans by whatever means necessary!
Pentagon: we will prepare for an invasion then.
George bush: wait, do they have oil?
Pentagon: no sir.
George bush: it was the iraqis!
@PlantainPapi True, but its members were operating in Afghanistan at the time.
I mean you guys did invade the Afghans.
@PlantainPapi Afghanistan have the taliban
Your video is sooooo good!! I had to pause in the middle to subscribe you channel first.
The entire world knew about this, but americans finding out is just hilarious
Many Americans are aware of this. WTF dude? Some of them are even shown in this very video.
@@unusuario5173 don't get triggered like that, it was just a comment on a youtube video
@@diegomoreno6274 your comment is a blatant lie that you chose to believe. As I mentioned, even in this video there are politicians who knew it already.
I kinda don't like when people choose to believe lies and spread them. I have a problem with that.
If you choose to believe in lies but keep them to yourself, that's OK.
@@unusuario5173 bro chill a bit, you're so stressed
@@diegomoreno6274 I am chill.
Nice try attempting to downplay what I said as a rant.
My work here is done, for those who read the replies to your comment.
I wish everyone would watch this video. I know so many people who justify every American military action because they say it’s “for our freedom”
Iraq was not justified. Patriotism is about observing the flaws of one's country and wishing to make them better. Not blindly liking it
History is taught differently in America and UK compared to other nations, I see Americans in the comments section not hearing the other side of this story untill now.
Then they get pissed when Ukraine gets invaded
@@todoldtrafford Every Government have their evilness in it, different period different decision. US is as guilty as many other government but at least they return many good for many other countries too. Mistake are made along the way.
Now Russia is giving freedom to Ukraine and America is just screaming in the background with their full face masks on
This is how cowardly America is..... They can only bully smaller nations
How disgusting, my future is ruined because the american government couldn't do any thing against alq'aeda in afghanistan.
The funny part is that Al Qaeda was a small cell in one of the regions of Afghanistan and it could have been easily taken out with a swift surgical attack but the US planning was so shit that they went to war with the entire country and are now stuck with a quagmire.
Yep I’m so sorry for you
And the US also created the Terrorist groups like Alq'aeda by meddling in Saudi Arabia and other places in the Middle East.
I know right ? The future of our country is gone and the only thing that we can do is just leave the country somehow .
shakeb raza I’m an atheist
I now understood why the wars since 90s weren’t taught in school. Never even knew why and where we went to war until I looked into it. Im 20 btw
Take care Johnny Harris, You have exposed so much.

Every night is just fine untill You heard big exlploded in the night skies, everything CHANGES
Same, I use to wonder why the middle east was such a war ground as a kid.
Yeah it was a waste
On a cold night during Sadrists-Americans war i was about 5 but I remember this graphically : war sirens sound, mom and dad discussing whether we had time to flee our house or not then decided that we stay because it was too late and they didn’t know why the attack was happening so they thought we might get attacked if we go out so we hid in a small bathroom which was in the staircase they told me and my siblings not to look through the window, they wrapped me in a green blanket it was freezing in that room my dad tried to lighten the mood as he sat on a small chair and joked about how his butt is too big for the chair my mom smiling while holding me but her hands were shaking she was saying her prayers quietly as the sound of aircrafts and bombings started I still remember those horrifying loud noises and the house shaking but my dad was trying to make it funny for us while telling us corny dads jokes, i slept then woke up the next morning it was the neighbourhood next to ours that was attacked and was fully destroyed, you ask why? It was because they were looking for one Sadrist guy that shot at them so they destroyed a whole neighbourhood to find one person
I was exactly 12 years old when the US invaded Iraq. I live in Cameroon. I remember having a heated argument with a classmate on whether or not the war was justified.
I was just born in iraq , my first months on earth were fulled with explosions ,fear bloody memories that will never be healed
aphonie clouds I’m so sorry bro. I can’t imagine what that must’ve been like
@@cpldalton5966 u can imagine. just watch war documentary and imagine urself being there.
@@QWERTY-gp8fd I can't. You can't feel the same things the people in the documentary feel. And anyways you're watching behind a screen. there's a safe barrier from you and the events that you will always feel safe behind. Anyway there are plenty of things documentaries don't cover
@@cpldalton5966 well i guess ur imagination is pretty shit.
it's heartwarming to see so many comments of Iraqi and American civilians acknowledging the truth, and hope to see accountability for the politicians and public servants responsible
