    Why is it when a police officer shoots someone the police officer is blamed but when someone does a mass shooting the gun is blamed?

    • @realfavorites3112
      @realfavorites3112 6 років тому +19

      Well because the officer is a trained authority who should have higher ethical standards and more control over their emotions. You can't have that over the entire public and that's why you don't give guns to the entire public. If you're gonna give guns especially automatic /semi automatic weapons then where does the idea of self-protection stop? Should ppl start buying tanks to protect themselves?
      Ps I think most cops have tasers anyway and keep firearms in their vehicles for really dangerous conflicts.
      Follow Australia's example. US is too stupid and greedy to save their own. Not the citizens but the politicians taking money from NRA to fund their campaigns.

      Abner. Probably because we believe the cop is sane and the mass shooting person is insane.

    • @aneyiii

      Michael Jensen here is the real reason anti gunners want to blame the gun when the gun is not the problem mental health is the problem. We used to have hospitals and institutions that the mentally ill were treated at but along the was bleeding hearts said we can't keep these people locked away we Medicate them and let them be free to go back into the public. Problem with that is unless there is someone to make sure they do what they are supposed to they won't do it. I'VE SEEN IT HAPPEN FIRST HAND TOO MANY TIMES. They are walking the streets everyday. With all this political correctness crap and everyone's a winner BS when these people come against the real world situations they don't know how to handle it. Then you get mass shootings among other things. The other thing is the evil that is in a man's heart. We have aloud God to be pushed out of everything and when He is out Satan steps in.

      Real Favorites cops that are equipped w/less than lethal options also carry a sidearm. There isn't one police force in the country that goes into the field unarmed. Stun guns and tasers don't always work. Thick clothing or s person being high will render a taser useless. I'm all for less than lethal options but to have that be the only option is ridiculously unsafe.
      See the knife attack on the U.K. A few years ago when it took the police way too long to stop the guy because they couldn't subdue him with damn stick.

    • @Darkpassenger2012
      @Darkpassenger2012 6 років тому +2

      Real Favorites also it's legal to own functional tanks as a civilian. There are people who own tanks. You could register and drive one on the street if you got rubber tracks for it. You can even have a functioning gun turret. It's is the shells that are regulated by the BATFE, but you can still own them with the proper licenses....and many people do.

      Every Islamic terrorist comes from a place where God dominates their lives. Religion isn't the answer, and is in fact problematic to reasoned society. The problem is the 2nd amendment rights being infringed upon for law abiding citizens, which turns them into victims. As long as there exists in humans the ability and desire to commit violence, disarming the law abiding will do nothing but turn them into victims.

    I’d just like to make one thing clear: a bump stock does not change the firing mechanism of a rifle. It simply allows the recoil to propel the gun against your trigger finger rapidly, making it fire SINGLE ROUNDS at a very rapid rate. Bump stocks do not make a weapon fully automatic, they make a semi-automatic rifle shoot more comparably to an automatic. The fire rate of a semi-automatic is still significantly slower in terms of fire rate than an actual automatic, and a bump stock is actually significantly hard to control when firing at the rate the Vegas shooter was firing. The only reason he was able to succeed was because he was firing indiscriminately into a large crowd of thousands of people. Banning bump stocks will do nothing to prevent mass shootings and will only further restricts legal gun owners from modifying their legal weapons.

    Gun control isn't the problem, its the fact that their isn't anyone around with a gun to stop the shooters. Perfect job for veterans who cant find jobs would be to be stationed outside schools to protect them.

    • @kimnguyen1227

      What do you think it would take to stop someone who is entering a school with a semi-automatic? It becomes a war zone. Is this the kind of place that you want to send your children to? When most of us were growing up, we went to school with faces of our bus drivers and teachers welcoming us not tanks.

      @kimnguyen1227 6 років тому +1

      Your solution is basically amplifying the status quo with the status quo. It doesn't make any damn sense. Are you saying that we should accept the reality that people with semi automatic weapons can just go to a school and shoot? How are you okay with children witnessing violence?

      Criminals will get guns no matter what. They are criminals they are breaking the law. Yeah obviously we can make it "Harder" for them to get firearms but they are still going to get them. We need to look at solutions on how to stop them after they have the guns. No number of laws is going to keep criminals from getting weapons.

  • @bobbys6364
    @bobbys6364 6 років тому

    It appears all of the laws that are intended to protect us from mass shootings haven't worked. Laws and law enforcement haven't protected the schools. The solution doesn't require a change to the Constitution. We need to change the law that prevents law abiding citizens from carrying guns in school. We need to enforce the law that allows us to protect ourselves.

    Banning fully automatic or any variation there of is a violation of the second amendment. It's unconstitutional for any government agency to infringe upon the right of the people to bare arms. The constitution is the supreme law of the land and supersedes all other laws. The only legal way to change this right is to follow the legal process of amending the constitution. Look government, if you expect citizens to follow the law then you must lead by example and do the same.

    I mean no disrespect, Mr. Gowdy, but I'm afraid your responses to the vital concerns of these bright, passionate young people suggest that you are more than a little emotionally tone deaf this morning. And nice dodge on the question regarding the money that you yourself take from the NRA. Yes, we noticed that you didn't want to touch that one. Apparently, for you and your Republican compadres, what amounts to blood money is perfectly acceptable money. You, Sir, are able to do better than this.

    After looking up the legal definitions of the words/phrases in the 2nd Amendment in Black’s Law, 5th Ed., and Webster’s Dictionary of 1828, here’s what I found:
    A well-armed and trained people, being necessary to maintaining a state of individual liberty for all, the RIGHT of individual Americans to own, possess and maintain weapons of military utility or any Thing that can be used for offensive or defensive purposes and to carry them on or about their bodies, or in their clothing or a pocket, as they go about their daily affairs pursuing Life, Liberty and Happiness, ready for immediate employ in the event of a spontaneous confrontation is absolutely forbidden to be violated.
    For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution. [Bliss vs. Commonwealth, 12 Ky. (2 Litt.) 90, at 92, and 93, 13 Am. Dec. 251 (1822)
    The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right. [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)]
    The right of a citizen to bear arms, in lawful defense of himself or the State, is absolute. He does not derive it from the State government. It is one of the high powers" delegated directly to the citizen, and `is excepted out of the general powers of government.' A law cannot be passed to infringe upon or impair it, because it is above the law, and independent of the lawmaking power." [Cockrum v. State, 24 Tex. 394, at 401-402 (1859)
    Just to get started.

    I think it’s more important to focus on what happened to the young people of America. What changed them? Why do they eat laundry soap? What made them care so little about human life? Did the governments involvment in parental discipline of children play a roll ? It seems young people have no fear of of anything neither parents of police. Or the repercussions of their actions. Millions of baby boomers made it through school without one single mass shooting but now they are almost a daily occurrence. So we have to ask ourselves what happened between then and now.

No commitment to our children's safety, no accountability when something horrible happens and almost nobody is taking responsibility for the upbringing of their kids. We have emasculated our country, making it offensive to speak the truth. We've made bullying a crime. We have failed to raise strong men and women. Bullying sucks, but strong people grow from struggle. We are poor on strength and rich on unqualified opinions.
