QDM and QDR Explained Using The RMI! [Most Common Pilot Job Interview Question ANSWERED].
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 сер 2024
- In today's video, we are going to talk about QDM, QDR, and Ground Station Quadrant.
The QDM is the relative bearing to the Station, the station can be a VOR or an NDB.
The QDM is used to fly inbound to your selected ground station, so, if you want to fly to your VOR you simply need to set the QDM on your heading.
The QDR is the relative bearing from the ground station. The QDR will tell you on which radial (from the VOR) your Aircraft is located.
So, if you look at the QDR you will know on which radial you are.
A very common question asked to the Pilot during a job interview is: In which VOR quadrant is your Aircraft located?
In order to answer this question, you need to find out what is your QDR. Once you know your QDR you simply located the aircraft in one of the 4 quadrants. So, if you have a QDR from 0 to 90 you will be on the first quadrant, a QDR from 091 to 180 you'll be on the second quadrant, from 181 to 270 you will be on the third and from 271 to 360 you will be on the 4th quadrant.

Can you make a video on how pilot plan their route and how they calculate fuel etc . And how do they do briefing. By the way nice video . ✈✈✈✈ .
Hey, many thanks for watching and the comment!! Check on my channel, few weeks ago I posted a video regarding IFR route preparation... then, if you look at the videos of the full simulator flights you will have in there the briefings.. I will take your request regarding the fuel calculation into consideration for a future video..
@@PILOTCLIMB i have already watched that video . But i am talking about other preparation that pilot do before every flight . Thanks for reply. ✈✈✈✈ .
Ok, I see now, I'll make some content regarding preflight preparation..
@@PILOTCLIMB yes . That's what i want . Thanks captain. Have a good day . ✈✈✈✈ .
When you pronounce QDM sounds hilariously dirty in Portuguese lmao
O cu do Mike e o cu do Romeu lol
Poor, Mike...

well done Gabriel. You do through you maximum energy for simplifying basics and these tips are very helpful. Truly appreciate.
Thank you sir! I am studying for my airline exam after 4 year of bush flying and all that instrument theory was far in the back of my head.
Wow this helps me a lot thank you captain

Hi Gabriele, very well done! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Could you make any video about the separations? Would be appreciated! Thanks!😘

@@PILOTCLIMB thanks a mill!!!
Studying for an exam and this really helped. Thank you!
You are very welcome

Many thanks for your support
Thanks alot for great video..
Concerning the quadarant ? Is it help me to know to/ from indicator?
Great explanation
Thanks for your support!!!
Nicely explained
Thanks for watching!
I should definitely practice that. I usually rely on visual clues (VFR) and the GPS. And this knowledge must be practiced on a small aircraft that only gives you the basics for navigation.
I'm sorry if I failed to find it, but do you have a cabin pressurization setup video for the Boeing 737-800?
Many thanks for watching!! The only video regarding the pressurization system is this one: ua-cam.com/video/3i5stCouY3s/v-deo.html
I'll make one explaining how to use the whole panel.
Great videos by you Capt.
I do have few requests on how to perform in B737 simulator
1. DME arc approaches with Dual FMC failure
2. How to fly Raw Data ILS approaches
3. Engine failure at V1
4. NDB approaches.
Cheers!!!!
Hey, I'm glad you liked the video! I will take your suggestions into cosideration for future videos! Stay Tuned.
Hello Gabriele. Thank you for this informative and helpful video. Now I am able to answer if they freeze the simulator and ask a question. Going to have my pilot assesment for Wizz Air on Wednesday 19.10. Wish me luck! :)
I wish you best of luck! Let me know how it will go
@@PILOTCLIMB I didn't pass the first stage which consisted the 60min / 60 questions multiple choise computer exercise + group exercise. So didn't even get the chance to get to the interview with the pilots and HR person. But not the end of world. It was my first pilot assessment and I will not give up. 👊
Beautiful
I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for watching
nicely explained can you make a video on critical engine and difference between turboprop and turbofan?

@@PILOTCLIMB thank you for considering my suggestion please make this video badly need it
Good Day Capt Gabriele.... anothet great explained video... 👌👍👍...
What ist abbreviation of RMI? In a Boeing 737NG plane which button should we push to shown a compas rose with QDM und QDR Arrow on navigation display?
Have a nice weekend... 🙏👍👍
Hey, thanks for watching!! RMI stands for Radio Magnetic Indicator, to have the Rose you should set the VOR mode on the Navigation display using the EFIS control panel. I wish you a great day!
@@PILOTCLIMB Thanks Capt Gabriele for your answer... should we also enter VOR Frequency on main pedestal below radio(there is NAV with 2 windows active and standby) to fly in to VOR Station we want to?
Hello Captain, very useful video, I needed this one. I have a question as usual 😂
I understand that the QDM is pointing towards the VOR and the QDR is the tail (the radial we're in). But what about the "TO" and "FROM"? If i select VOR on the EFIS Panel of my 737-800 I get these two and instinctively I'd say that when "TO" shows up I'm flying inbound the VOR (the distance is given by the DME and the "CRS" should be the one selected on the MCP) whereas if the plane shows "FROM" I'm flying outbound the VOR, so I'm getting further away and not closer. Is that right? Thanks for the video and the time you dedicate to these amazing contents :)
Hey, many thanks for watching!! I'm glad you liked the video!! Yes you are right!! Make sure you have the TO indication when you are flying Inbound and the FROM when you are flying outbound. Did you see the video I made regarding VOR RADIALS??
@@PILOTCLIMB Not the whole video but don't worry, today I'll do it :) Thanks for the answer
So capt which means aQDR will allways help me determine which Quadrant am are in relation to atunned VOR thanks capt for this Fantastic VOR ATPL lesson.we have learnt alot with ma friends here.
That's great!! I'm glad the video helped you and your friends!! Keep learning!!
Qdr qdm only for ndb(bearing , radial inboun or outbound for vor ,If it’s not right, correction me
Hi captain. Kindly add the explanation for different different variation at VOR station and at aircraft
I'll take your suggestion into consideration for a future content
Hi there! This is a really good explanation! I attend a high / flight school and sometimes we use also QTE and QDJ... what's the difference between QDR and QDM? I know that they refer to the real north...but I'm not sure... could you please give me a clearer explanation ? thanks. Greetings from Italy!
Ciao Giacomo, I'm glad you liked the video. Do you want to know the difference between QTE-QDJ and QDM-QDR?
@@PILOTCLIMB Ciao! Exactly, :)
@@giacomo1287 they’re true radials that you can use to plot your position on a chart. If you then add variation you have your qdm/qdr which is used in flight
What is the difference between QDR and Radials? Will they always be the same.
The principle is the same, yes..
🙏
But can you tell me which colour needle is Vor needle and which is RMI needle. It’s my confusion. Rest I understood.
The needle with 2 lines is related to the NAV radio N2 and the one with one line is for Nav radio number 1
@@PILOTCLIMB got it thanks
Pls explain RBI also
I will take your suggestion into cosideration for a fuure content
sorry i cant understand how we determine in wich quadrate we are
