8mm film of Perth City, Darlington - Bilgoman Pool, Rottnest Island, Boans, Kwinana Freeway, Narrows Bridge.
Circa 1960-70's
Wow this brings back memories. I remember Shentons Old Mill in South Perth right next to the Narrows, The Kwinana Freeway had a slight dip in it because of the Meckering earthquake, and who remembers the Swan Brewery ships lit up at night?
@blue heeler there were 3 of them - old clipper, the Swan ship and something else...
When it was fun to drive in Perth.
I woud say 'enjoyable'.
Such a lazy little town way back then. Looked so calm and peaceful. Love the music.
Gone!...but not forgotten
I really do miss the old Perth. Wasn't very action packed but it was our little thing. Lots of sun and room. Very few hassles. Clean air. Great crabbing, prawning, fishing, surfing...
I mean, it's still got clean air and lots of sun and room.
Ha ha yeah remember when going to Mandurah was a big deal and really felt like a long way?
@@psychedelicprawncrumpets9479 my grand parents lived in Rockingham. Back roads and country road the whole way. It was a day trip there and back. Most of Mandurah was bush. Holiday homes on islands in the estuary. Great times
@@silentdogfart4892 yeah I miss those summer days, crabbing with a scoop and an esky tied up dragging behind then prawns skipping under the old traffic bridge
My grandparents lived in tin shacks near the old abandoned building in freo cos they weren’t allowed to progress through white society on their own native land. But anyways.
Fantastic memories
Such an underrated city. So clean and beautiful, for the most part
If only we could shrink perth back to the way it used 2 b :)
Pandora's opened the box, the toothpaste's out of tube, the genie's escaped from the bottle and the fart's out of the anus.
anybody notice greenmount swimming pool on great eastern hwy still looks the same now
I was trying to figure out which swimming pool that was. Cheers for the info
Give me a time machine, they were better day's, carefree, no computers or Mobil phones. 😊
No they only had Shell and Caltex phones, haha.
That pine tree is still there by the Narrows :)
some of the tall CBD buildings are still standing.....in fact, I work in one of them (since refurbished)
Unreal 🥲
Oh the good old days when you could leave your car and house unlocked
Music suits it. Sounds like Kirk L'Orange.
aww the old windmill, was that demolished or relocated. And the ship lights on the swan brewery were a highlight of my childhood. Love to know why they were there in the first place and why'd they get removed? ☮️😎
The mill is still there. It's heritage listed. Swan Brewery? It's in Adelaide, go figure....
Swan brewery in Adelaide? Wtf lol @@ceeemm1901
Could someone please show film of Perth's bover boys in the hay St mall in the 70s !!??🌞🌞🌞🌞
After Rottnest is Port Beach I think
Thompson Bay Rottnest..port Beach was before with all the fuel tanks when the BP refinery was still in freo
can I use this in a documentary?
Sorry, but this footage is only to be used as a sample of our work.
Is there any footage that you have or know of that is similar that I could use in a documentary
Perth c.1970 = way better
Rotto should have been left like that. It is now so comercialised that you may as well spend the day on the mainland. They have ruined Rotto.
