True: unless Alejandro Vargas being a Colonel is taken into consideration as he’s playable in Warzone, but that’s multiplayer so Nikolai remains the highest ranked playable single player protagonist. Hopefully Vargas doesn’t become playable in any Single Player campaign to surpass Badanov 😅
Ahh, the first Call of Duty I ever owned. This game was one of the only positive memories I have from 2006. I really enjoyed the music that played after all those rockets wrecked the German armored column
Me too, I got another thing too Welcome to the Glorious Red Army of the Soviet Union where we make you fight even if you have no cover and you're surrounded by enemy soldiers and tanks, and if you want to retreat, we'll shoot you.
3:32 is one of the most epic moments of this game. I mean, the whole start of this mission is quite epic. Shows you don't need the cinematic cutscenes that you get in modern games in order to make the atmosphere epic.
Funny how this game is my childhood, at age 6-7 I played this everyday while now I go on the Men of War: Assault Squad editor and recreate this same crew and characters with their names except Badanov is Baranov, I substituted Tanya with Vasily Zaitsev because MoWAS has no women.. And since the latter is a Legendary Sniper I had to put him.. Then I added Voronin, Yakovlev and Kovalenko (in the gamecube version the rifleman named Yakovlev is named Kovalenko for some reason..) I also added Puskov (but Popov was the closest surname since Puskov is absent in MoWAS) They had no known first name so i went with Makar Voronin (a default russian name of one of the first spawning soldiers, as there is an algorithm that generates names and surnames randomly but the first hundred are always the same in every different game/server in MoWAS) Ilya Yakovlev, Nikolai Baranov as tank commander, Dmitriy Petrov as driver (no change needed luckily) Fyodor Belyakov as gunner (instead of Belinki from CoD Finest Hour) and a cameo of Mikhail Kolesnikov (basically Kalashnikov, who I put as a gun loader because he was young and inexperienced) and finally Aleksandr Sokolov. To summarize: Oleg Popov (Puskov) Aleksandr Sokolov Nikolai Baranov (Badanov) Dimitriy Petrov Fyodor Belyakov (Belinki) Ilya Yakovlev Makhar Voronin Vladimir Kovalenko Mikhail Kolesnikov (Kalashnikov) Vasiliy Zaitsev. 😵💫
The hardest mission in this game for me was when you are in Africa (on daylight) and you have to get to a tower and hold it off for a while, i forgot what mission it is but i just remember that you’re riding a jeep at the start then end up in that broken building. Btw the last missions were so awesome too
a_zombie_kyle you got my vote! 🗳 I installed my GameCube to my big screen in the living room and I when I played CoD: FH for the first time in forever I could hardly see anything.
I use to say this all the time in RTS games with artillery “yes direct hit they armored calum is a junkyard now” just couldn’t remember where I got it from till now
1.) This game had the best playable tank missions for COD. It’s a shame they don’t include them now. 2.) This guy sucks. He’s in a tank and is passing up all the Germans!
It may sound strange but now a days i only play Alexander and Tanya's missions. I still have my original call of duty finest hour from way back when I was a kid. And will only play the tank mission to see that tanya and Alexander are okay than restart.
This was my first call of duty i got this brings back all my memories to my childhood for the ps2 it came with call of duty 2 big red one which was my brothers game back in christmas of 2010
This was the last chapter i played. I am crying when i cannot pass this tank mission, and i broke the cd. My father get mad at me. This was so frustating lol Edit : Just correcting the grammar
Loved how Tanya takes high and shoots the German infantry. Though she was nearly killed by a German tank; however, she survived but was injured and unable to fight. I would like to know what happen to her sniper rifle. She and Nikolai are my favorite people to play in this, non-fictional Call of Duty, game. Where was Alexander during the beginning?
Aleksander Sokolov is Tanya’s spotter so he was supposedly next to her. By the way he survived as well, if you check clearly the guys carrying her to the HQ, one of the guys has Sokolov’s face texture so that is surely him. They both survived!
10:25 this version of the red square is a lot more similar than the first one in the first call of duty, the Russian's have taken the red square from the first call of duty, and now here, they're retaking it again?
Ignacio Sanchez I have a cod 3. I used to watch my brother and Dad play it. We had it on a Wii and I wasn't very good at it. This was probably about a year before the Wii U came out, so there were games that had better graphics, but we didn't care. I miss the old cods from when they were not about blood and guts and gore.
Elijah Clark if it did take place in 1942 the T-34 wouldn't be the 1940 model (the tank that showed the Germans who's better) instead be the 1942 model (the tank that showed the Germans their Tiger tank isn't strong enough)
ah, when call of duty had characters with stories you cared about..

Yeah but the other guy probably died, sad since he was the first player character.
AdeptKing Nah he’s alive if you see during the mission, you can recognise his face that it’s him one of the guys to carry her.
I thought she died in the build collapse

same here, because of this game stalingrad became somewhat of a passion for me. ever since, ive studied it and learned all about it.

Fun fact as a major Nikolai Badanov is one of if not the highest ranked playable characters in the COD franchise
True: unless Alejandro Vargas being a Colonel is taken into consideration as he’s playable in Warzone, but that’s multiplayer so Nikolai remains the highest ranked playable single player protagonist.

"Welcome to the Glorious Red Army. Our tankers are so skilled, that when they park their tanks they point their guns at walls. Rather the enemy."
Sorry had to say that. I actually rather enjoy that the characters have a background story.
