It shows just how many things are in play at any given time in the NHS Ambulance services: Emergencies, urgent inter-hospital transfers (they can even be positioning equipment to get a patient ready for transport to another specialist unit) etc, it's amazing just how much goes on day-to-day.

DRIVERS notice blues bouncing off from road signs, house/shop windows reflect them. I stopped traffic at a roundabout because I could see, and take notice of, blue lights reflections in house windows, from two Fire and Rescue tenders on a shout to the hospital just past the roundabout. I did have to open my driver's door in order to stop a BMW from overtaking me!. I stick with my bonnet-munching bad driver.

As a blue light driver never assume it’s a clear road, remember people’s age, road conditions and presumptions don’t always work in the favour of a response driver. Some times we have to wing it but to blame a member of the public is wrong the right of blue lights and sirens is a warning device not a right of passage

I'll forget about the white van driver who waited until too late, to pull out of a side turning on my left, turning right, and smashed into the ambulance grill and off-side corner. Just because an 18-wheeler was coming from his left, towards us, and wasn't going to be stuck behind it. Obsessed to the point of never seeing beyond what he wanted to do. We couldn't move, and had to get another ambulance diverted to pick up our patient. But, I'll drop it, you can excuse all you like. Britain does not train people to drive, they train them to pass a VERY simple test. Now if we had the same system as France, all drivers would be trained first-aiders, and carrying a kit they know how to use. BYE.
Chris, can I suggest that you try tilting down your front facing camera. If you have less sky in the shot it will improve the exposure, it’s a little under exposed at the moment.
I don’t think it’s really possible to tilt them down because of the shape of them, but it might end up with half of the video just being of the bonnet anyway. actually looking at it, I think it will. Ignore me :)
@@Matty27it's a VIOFO A139 they've got rotatable cameras. They also come with a polarising lens-cap which might make a bit of a difference if not already fitted.
I find the light levels to be very low compared to previous cameras, most cameras make it look lighter than it really is but this one seems to make it darker.
@@Matty27 A229 Pro will tilt too, and is designed to have the horizon at half way up the image - the lens should be adjusted so that it is horizontal, so it does want adjusting. I also suggest a firmware update since this was a very early A229 Pro and there have been significant improvements to the exposure metering, which will probably make more of an improvement than the angle adjustment..
2:21 Very interesting Chris as you had used a very good offside position prior which enabled both you and the Volvo to eyeball (see each other on the inside of the car on the left) but they still continued to move forward without changing their speed

The fact is the Volvo would have seen the lights through the other car if they were even looking.. They should have been stopped way before that close call. I know we shouldn't expect people to stop but people also should not be stupid.

If you look at his speed 58mph the approaching car did not have time to react as the car Chris overtook was blocking the sight, the Volvo would have no line of sight as Chris approaches on a blind corner. I think it would actually be good to have police, fire and ambulance make a video on what to do if hearing or seeing a emergency vehicle while on the road, then put that into the theory test. Not as a questionnaire, but just as advice.
Defiantly need to add a LED lightbar to the front of the cars. Like a Lazer Linear Elite 18+. When you have 21000 lumens at your disposal by flashing your high beams, you will force light into the cars ahead, both through the rear window and all the mirrors. This will grab peoples attention even 5-600m down the road, giving them a chance to see the blue lights and start adjusting even before they can hear the siren. All emergency vehicles in Nordic countries have extra high beam lights, and they are very effective at getting attention many car lengths ahead, even when people are distracted by music or other things. It will also improve safety when driving at night, and works flawlessly with your cars automatic highbeams.
I see you haven't been able to book the car in yet to get your sirens taken off the horn though, Chris . . . hope you can manage it soon for your own comfort, too . . . unless everyone's trying to do it now and they're fully booked up? Stay safe on the roads, m8, to you and all . . .
Great driving and great awareness of a possible dodgy overtake, , but the driving standards on U.K. roads are barely passable at best, some drivers really do need to be put on refresher courses, if they cannot hear or see an emergency vehicle approaching, and take sensible and timely actions to give it room to proceed accordingly….👍👌🇮🇲

With the large amount of deep potholes on the roads currently, do you have to keep an eye on the surface while driving to make sure you aren't decelerating or accelerating heavily on ground that could either cause damage, or confuse the cars traction control systems? Or are the vehicles modified with smaller rims or heavier duty tyres to handle these things?
I m always impressed by your videos :) Question: do you have your own ‘speed limits’ that you mustn’t exceed, like different in a nominal 30mg zone to a 70mph dual carriageway? I saw you got up to over 105mph on the dual carriageway, but around 60 in the 30 zone.
I'm sure he's said previously that his force(?) has a rule of the normal speed limit + 20mph, but sometimes he goes beyond that so may be that +20mph is just a guideline and he can use his own discretion, or the guidelines changed, or I'm just misremembering!
I think I've heard it is limit + 50% but no more than 100mph, so 45mph in a 30, 90 in a 60 and 100 in a 70. But this is definitely a policy thing/insurance thing. Legally the emergency services can go as fast as they want (when required of course), I'd guess he's not going over 110mph on the motorway because a tyre blow out at that speed would be pretty serious, plus if your doing it every day the risk increases all add up
Would be great if you could adjust your mic setup to hear the engine better. If you go back a year you can hear the engine kickdown and sing with your Skoda, makes for a better video I think :)

Dont think it was happening on a previous playback but turned a bit shuddery/judders on this playback from your relativly new viofo, Santa sent us a new 622 nextbase for Xmas but have not looked at a playback yet but hope it's better than yours at the moment. Noticed our old 422s did the same with age but some say it also depends with card size but not up with tech these days.
I wish 90% of the drivers on our English roads had driving skills like you , but without the lights & noise . R T Cs would decrease . If 60% of drivers got OFF their hand held phone while moving , R T Cs would be greatly reduced . They are so easy to identify .

Would imagine summer tyres and winter tyres, could be different for personal vehicles but my local fleet runs summer tyres then winter ones they don't have all season, tyres are swapped when needed, personal cars may be different but i would imagine his tyres are looked after by the trust same as servicing and fuel.

I guess there is a reason for them, but can only be a hindrance to anyone on a blue light job. By doing so, would mean you could stay out in the middle for longer, and make it easier for other drivers

Because its a personal vehicle meaning when he's not responding in it the car is just like a everyday car...shopping trips and school runs etc, its why all his kit is in it so if he's needed he can respond rather than drive to hospital to pick a marked car up, plus he's a senior paramedic so gets to enjoy the luxuries of 40k cars etc while paramedics sit in Fiats falling to bits as budgets are constantly cut.
Chris is the one paying monthly for the car, not the trust. And I'd much rather have his lifesaving skills getting there that little bit quicker than if he was driving a Corsa...

This channel needs removing, people don't pay taxes for a responder to make entertainment. He's employed to do a job, not use his postion for youtube. When folk can't get ambulance to attend a loved one,this man makes videos, very compassionate. The email is on its way ems nhs trust and the secretary of state for health. Do what you are employed to do, and deliver the service our taxes pay for.
This is my personal opinion, but the taxes we pay, pay for people to work a set number of hours per week, to cover the job they are tasked with. Many people (and I'm sure Chris is in this situation) work extra time that they don't get paid for, or don't bother to claim for the time as they love the job they do. I've not added in all the extra time that a clinical job takes in personal time to keep up-to-date with developments and continuous training. What people do out side that paid employment, is then their choice, as it with any person doing any job. So long as it's agreed with their employer and they don't bring the employer into disrepute. In the case of this channel, there is a very clear usage of the footage obtained, to help inform and guide road users on the best way to aid response drivers, who are attempting to make progress to assist people. I would ask you to look at the comments and the number of people who have learnt from the videos, and who may, one day be able to make a better informed decision when the find they need to be a road user who can best cater for the needs of a response vehicle, be it medical, Fire, or Police. Please do read the comments on the other videos, that's just my opinion.

This is a clear case of using NHS resources for personal usage, and it is not how it should be run, give low response times across the UK we need peole to focus on the job the have. Also the NHS is governed by strict gdpr data protection rules, clearly there are questions to be asked about those in the videos who may have been outted by this man's job as NHS employee and not joe blogs who are governed by fare use video rights. And money gained if from youtube videos needs to be accounted for to NHS England as he was a NHS employee and not a private citizen.
I have forwarded a complaint to this man's NHS trust and the secretary of state for health. Misuse of NHS resources is unacceptable for entertainment value. I have forwarded this to the national media. This is clear breech of NHS data protection gdpr law, private citizens images used by NHS England, is a breech. Also has any resources been gained ?

I never mount kerbs. You easily can give courtesy to emergency services without damaging a wheel or front bumper.
But he didn't actually mount the kerb, he just drove into a driveway and then on the kerb
I don't think the "close" call on the overtake would have occurred IF the driver of the oncoming silver car was looking beyond their bonnet.
But in fairness Chris was doing 58 mph around the corner approach which might be the reason that car couldn’t react in time

How do you navigate on an emergency call?
Most fleet vehicles have built in navigation but on personal vehicles i would imagine its google maps or a alterative for emergency services.

Because its a personal vehicle meaning when he's not responding in it the car is just like a everyday car...shopping trips and school runs etc, its why all his kit is in it so if he's needed he can respond rather than drive to hospital to pick a marked car up, plus he's a senior paramedic so gets to enjoy the luxuries of 40k cars etc while paramedics sit in Fiats falling to bits as budgets are constantly cut.
Chris is the one paying monthly for the car, not the trust. And I'd much rather have his lifesaving skills getting there that little bit quicker than if he was driving a Corsa...

This channel needs removing, people don't pay taxes for a responder to make entertainment. He's employed to do a job, not use his postion for youtube.

This is my personal opinion, but the taxes we pay, pay for people to work a set number of hours per week, to cover the job they are tasked with.
Many people (and I'm sure Chris is in this situation) work extra time that they don't get paid for, or don't bother to claim for the time as they love the job they do. I've not added in all the extra time that a clinical job takes in personal time to keep up-to-date with developments and continuous training.
What people do out side that paid employment, is then their choice, as it with any person doing any job. So long as it's agreed with their employer and they don't bring the employer into disrepute.
In the case of this channel, there is a very clear usage of the footage obtained, to help inform and guide road users on the best way to aid response drivers, who are attempting to make progress to assist people.
I would ask you to look at the comments and the number of people who have learnt from the videos, and who may, one day be able to make a better informed decision when the find they need to be a road user who can best cater for the needs of a response vehicle, be it medical, Fire, or Police.
Please do read the comments on the other videos, that's just my opinion.

This is a clear case of using NHS resources for personal usage, and it is not how it should be run, give low response times across the UK we need peole to focus on the job the have.
Also the NHS is governed by strict gdpr data protection rules, clearly there are questions to be asked about those in the videos who may have been outted by this man's job as NHS employee and not joe blogs who are governed by fare use video rights.
And money gained if from youtube videos needs to be accounted for to NHS England as he was a NHS employee and not a private citizen.
