Ok, I will give an 8 out of 10 Liz. However, you forgot to say the "Ll" sound at the start. The sound it makes is that of clearing your throat. Which is way the easiest way to pronounce is "Clan....." My Dad and one of our Springer Spaniels use to have a "snoring" contest, which always had us kids betting how long it would take dad to wakeup and tell the Ricky to "give over and shove him!" 🤣🤣🤣 So Paul and the wind had us laughing too!!

Hi Jan, thanks, we do try with the boat but it's an ongoing job, been through lots of Locks today and my paint already needs a touch up on the sides 🤭 Ernie, is ok at the moment but has bad days still so I'm giving him quite a bland diet still and probiotics. 😊
Poor Ernie. I've always given our dog boiled rice for a few days if he has an upset tummy until I can see the poop looking more solid, then gradually feed as usual
Yes I was doing this and all was good and then when he returned to his normal food it all went wrong again...but, fingers crossed, I think I've found out what it was. I was giving him probiotics, I then read that sometimes when you give them probiotics it can cause direahea as the tummy gets used to it. So I stopped the probiotics and looks like that was what was..all seems good at the moment, thankfully 😊
Wonderful Liz, nice long one and everyone is talking about Paul's wind 😂 at least he's not blaming it on Ernie. Looking forward to next week, I feel a Q&A video coming on at some point. I'll save my question for that episode. 😀📐🪚👍
Good idea with the Q & A, although we plan to move quite a bit during winter so may just answer a few questions on the move, ask away and we shall put in a video as we cruise. 😊
Will be watching tomorrow as I'm out tonight. We've decided to spend Christmas on the canals again lol. One week over Christmas spending Christmas day in Middlewich. It'll be a slow paced quiet week. Then it's save save save for two weeks in the Summer again. I did say we'd spend Christmas at home this time but the temptation was too much 😂😁

Hawk eye..🤣 I might just throw a few in each week to see if you notice 🤣 Ernie, wasn't keen on this outro, he thought the pony may have outshined him 🤣 Honestly that new fan belt has be tightened and tightened until it can be tightened no more and still does it every now and again...some has suggested roughing up the pulleys so we are going to try that next 😉😊
Thanks Ern, for another stunning vlog, ably assisted by your staff. Love your light directing touch, with occasional appearances, letting the cast show their talents!
A trick a learnt a long time ago for a squeaky fan belt was to sprinkle some talcum powder on the pulley, works a treat for a while until you can either replace or tighten.
This is a new belt, and has been tightened a few times but someone has suggested roughing the pulleys a little so we will give that a go and then maybe your trick too. Thanks 👍 😀
I know you've probably sorted it but as an ex electrician just in case you haven't. Even if those lights are on the same circuit as the pump(they shouldn't be) the voltage drop should not be enough to make the lights flicker or turn off. Check the voltage at the pump and lights when the pump is running. You may find that the pump cable is only just thick enough gauge for the pump only and the lights are enough to drop the voltage too far. Make sure the lights are on the same circuit first by pulling the fuse or turning the breaker off for the pump, if they're not then it's probably a grounding issue, they're very common on boats. I know you stopped the belt squeak but please do invest in some belt dressing spray, it helps to keep the belts in good condition and last longer, stops squeaking and actually makes the belts more efficient by eliminating any belt slip. Hope any of this helps, thanks for the vid guys
Hi Dave, thank you much for this, we are going to relook at the bedroom electrics over winter and will definitely look into your suggestions. Also the fan belt is yet again playing up despite fitting new one, tightening and everything so yes we shall definitely look into getting this spray. Someone has also suggested roughing up the pulleys a little. 😊
Hi Liz, Paul and Captain Ernie. Hope every one is doing well. Captain Ernie, in the last vlog your tummy was not doing well. How are you now? Hope you are feeling better. Mark Alberta, Canada
Hi Mark. Ernie is doing much better now thanks and back to normal. He was on probiotics which cleared his bad tummy to start but turned out that they also were prolonging his recovery as they made his tummy upset again, as soon as I stopped the probiotics he returned to his good self. 😊
Hey guys. The boat is looking brilliant , nice paint job Liz. What's going on with your navigation skills? Paul. Maybe Ernie should get on the tiller 😂 Have a fantastic week x❤
Organising your winter travels sounds complex. I don't understand what the stoppages are. Are there certain routes that you cannot take? Another lovely video...even if Paul was about to take you all up the creek, veering right when he was supposed to keep to the canal. Thanks again guys. Cheers.
Hi Neil, winter stoppages are when certain sections, locks or bridges are planned to be worked on fixed, or upgraded by the canal and river trust. They start work in October until March. The quieter times on the canal. Sometimes they are expected to be closed for a minimal time but larger repairs can be shut for months during that time so you have to plan which route you are going to take on the canals to avoid these closures. It's all very complex...last year we weren't affected too badly as we spent winter on the Ashby Canal which hasn't got any locks so no closures were required bit this year we are travelling quite a bit on the main network and have to plan accordingly otherwise we could get stuck behind a lock that's closed for months. 😊
Hi guys another excellent vlog 😊. You don't reliase how fast winter is approaching shorter days and clocks turning back ☹️. Till next Wednesday bye for now
I know, winter is definitely coming around quickly particularly as we didn't really get a summer again this year. But...we do love winter on the cut so finger crossed it won't be a too bad one 😊
The peak forest canal is beautiful that's why it's always busy. Liz even if you change the lights they will flicker because for some reason they are on the water pump feed? Paul you need to take a spur off the bathroom lights main wire and re-wire the bedroom. If they are flickering when you walk about it's dodgey wiring so change it to be safe. Really speaking there should be nothing on the water pump feed. I thought you might of wintered on the Golly a lot of other tubers are heading there for the winter, it's a lovely place to spend Christmas. The boat looks amazing painted I hate painting you can paint mine when i get it Liz, Paul can do the woodwork, and I'll take Erns for a walk haha :) Great as always guys, Wednesdays now complete :) PS: Told you it was gonna get hot lol :)
You did say it was going to get warm didn't you, well done you, you did better than the day to day weather forecasters 🤣 As for painting your boat...you supply the jam dodgers and I'd be happy too 🤣😉😊 Definitely need to investigate further with the bedroom lighting..Definitely a winter job for sure 😊 As for winter on the Llangollen...there are a few closures up there starting in November and through winter and we do like to move quite often and didn't want to be restricted, also we need to get her blacked in April time roughly and plan to return to Whilton for that so going to head that way in preparation 😀
@@uponreflection Hi Liz tell Paul to get it done electrical problems are the bigest cause of fires on a boat, don't want poor Ernie lookin like a crispy duck lol :)
Hi guys, Just wondering how you're getting on with all the heavy rain down your way? Hopefully you're OK and levels are going down. Such is the life of narrow boating I suppose but it is a bit daunting when it's your home. We pick up our hire boat on Monday from Stone so I reckon things might be getting back to normal. 😍
Hi Gary, we have been all ok with this rain, although Ernie might disagree. He hates being wet 🤣 we stopped travelling and had a few days moored safely and waited for the storms to pass. Fingers crossed the weather improves for your holiday on your hire boat. 😊
Hi. Just a note in the navigation closures. I think you mentioned the Llangollen in November. Unless I am mistaken, is that not a towpath closure only? I do hope so as we are moving our boat to that area next week and are looking forward to a bit of off season cruising. May see you up there if your still around.
According to my little drawn map lock 2 and Bridge 51 has a closure starting 04th November until 19th Dec. Bridge 33 and 41 between 25th Nov and 20dec and there are then a few more in jan. I'm going to check my notes again now though as for some reason I thought Harleston locks closed but I can't seem to find that so we may not be as rushed as first thought if it's all up the other end. May see you there 😊
It seems I am mistaken and the worst thing is one of the closures is right outside the marina we are moving to!! Thanks for the info. I had not changed the date on the crt map to cover next few months because they said you will see them above so I assumed (assumption is!!) they would all be visible.
You have polished your pulleys sir , you need to “rough them up” and then fit a new belt …… you wont stop the squeeking demon with polished pulleys ….. keep up the good work , stay safe
Perfect, thank you so much for this, Paul will do this..if you do watch us regular, you will definitely still hear it in the next few videos as we are a few weeks ahead in real time 😉😊

OK thanks, I'll have a little look again. It has improved since I re did that short wire but still not 100 percent ok so I will do more investigating 😊
I DONT KNOW HOW TRUE THIS IS BUT WE COULD HAVE A SHITE WINTER I HOPE NOT AS I WORK ALL YEAR ROUND I WILL BE FREEZE UP then it may not how will you be keeping your winter going if its real shite
Fingers crossed its not and you still manage to work. If it's the weather reporters saying this then it can only mean the exact opposite and its going to be good as they always get it wrong on a daily basis 🤣 It always makes us laugh...if anyone else was as rubbish at their jobs as weather reporters are then we would all be fired 🤣 winter doesn't worry us too much as its always nice and cosy on the boat its just flooding and problems on the canals that may cause us problems. Fingers crossed its going to be just an average winter weather wise then 😊

I know, winter is definitely coming around quickly particularly as we didn't really get a summer again this year. But...we do love winter on the cut so finger crossed it won't be a too bad one 😊
Paul we try to last out until November, if we can . Make a stand to been ripped off Bob
Well we've failed already as we had the fire on a few nights back...and as I type I sit with 2 blankets on my lap 🤣😉😊
Hi guys,
Just wondering how you're getting on with all the heavy rain down your way?
Hopefully you're OK and levels are going down.
Such is the life of narrow boating I suppose but it is a bit daunting when it's your home.
We pick up our hire boat on Monday from Stone so I reckon things might be getting back to normal.
😍
Hi Gary, we have been all ok with this rain, although Ernie might disagree. He hates being wet 🤣 we stopped travelling and had a few days moored safely and waited for the storms to pass. Fingers crossed the weather improves for your holiday on your hire boat. 😊
If i was ever going to commission a boat builder it would have to be Braidbar, the AMG of the waterways .
Although I didn't get to go to their open day with Paul, I have seen a few of their boats online and they do look very nice presented 😊
Oh no, hope you manage to sort your journey into your marina then. 😬
Could you imagine spending quarter of a million on Braidbar boat and ending up in the bushes on your first cruise !!!!
God yes 🤭 or spending quarter of a million pound and tying it with just 2 bits of rope along the edge of a canal 🤭 I'd never leave the boat 😉😊
@@uponreflection I think people buy them put them in a marina and never use them You never see many brand new ones out and about !!!!!
You have polished your pulleys sir , you need to “rough them up” and then fit a new belt …… you wont stop the squeeking demon with polished pulleys ….. keep up the good work , stay safe
Do you mean rough up the pulleys a bit then as all we did was fit a new belt and then tighten it. It sqeeks every now and again still 🤔
@@uponreflection yes, take some rough sandpaper , or emery paper and make the surface of the pulleys not shiney where the belt goes
Perfect, thank you so much for this, Paul will do this..if you do watch us regular, you will definitely still hear it in the next few videos as we are a few weeks ahead in real time 😉😊
Hi guys loving the vlogs they’re so uplifting.
Please would you share the colour of you canopy. We are busy ordering but colour is so difficult.
Hi mandy. I can't remember the colour, it's was from aj Canopies. Hang on let me see if I can find it somewhere written down. 😊
Jus tfound the email to them, it was black tweed although it's more of a dark grey than black. 😊
@@uponreflection thank you so much for looking. Love to all.
And Barney
Ernie 🤣😉
was the overnight wind that disturbed your sleep the weather or Paul
🤣🤣 it genuinely was the weather but Paul did apologise too 🤣🤣😊
how can it be so low with all the rain we are having thats mad
I know it's crazy isn't it 😕
@@uponreflection i tell you this its september i get up at 545am and its bitch black julie said who turned out the lights the other morning i was off to work in the fog bloody rubbish but then afternoon it does get better but i im home about 3pm but the mornings are shite good to see ya give our love to ernie i was working at a house today i had 3 dogs to love it was great fun xx

OK thanks, I'll have a little look again. It has improved since I re did that short wire but still not 100 percent ok so I will do more investigating 😊
Never heard a horse sound like that 😅

Thanks for Lucy and Rolo. Hope you're both well 😊😊
A BIG HELLO LPE HOWS IT ALL GOING MY SWEET LOVES
It's all good here. Hope you and Julie are well Derek. Thanks for joining us again and hope you enjoyed 😊
