  • Split cup pouring paint on palm fronds? Well, in Mrs. Ruby Merlot's latest, you will learn how she happened to use these unique canvasses (or is it canvi - she never can remember?). Join in the fun, learn her frenetic frond technique, and listen to her latest story!
Mrs. Ruby Merlot has ideas for more palm frond pours. But, she'd greatly appreciate your input - what colors and techniques would you like to see?
In this pour, leftovers paints were used from various companies. They include, but are not limited to:
*Amsterdam Titanium White (with no silicone)
*Artist's Loft Metallics in black, blue, red, orange
*Artist's Loft non-metallics in lemon yellow
    DecoArt 24 Karat Gold
All but white were mixed with Floetrol and a drop of silicone.

That was delicious! I found a palm frond in the street this afternoon and I wondered what I could do with it. Now I know. Thank you for this fantastic video. And I love your story! Big warm hugs from Australia!

So nice to hear from you, Nella! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I had a lot of fun doing all those. These days, I use palm fronds, seedpods, etc. in most all of my artwork and have learned so much doing it. Please feel free to check it out on my website, peggyroberts.com, and on IG and FB @shallwepour! Thanks so much for your message - perhaps you’ll send me a photo of your finished palm frond piece😊 Hugs back at you from sunny Florida!

      My Dear Gracious Viewer!
I thank you for your message and am indeed touched by your concern! I took a short break that turned into a long bout of laziness. I blame it on Pandemic Malaise😊 (might as well).
I hope to be back on UA-cam soon - I have so many ideas for new works to share!
Please let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see.
Thank you again for your message - it is nice to be missed.
      Yours in pouring,
      Mrs. Ruby Merlot

What kind of paint did you use?

      My Dear Gracious Viewer!
I thank you for your question. I use acrylic paints for my pours and don’t always use the same brand. For this particular pour, I was using up “leftovers”, consisting mostly of Artists Loft Metallics, but also including DecoArt 24 Karat Gold and Amsterdam white. All are mixed with Floetrol about 2:1 Floetrol to paint. Most have a couple of drops of silicone to create the cells. Next time I do fronds (and I definitely will be doing more of them) I will keep my paints a bit thicker, even if I sacrifice some cells, to encourage more paint to stay on the fronds and less to spill off the curved sides.
I’ve been on a bit of a break but will be resuming my pouring videos soon. Thank you for your question and for subscribing to my channel!
      Yours in Pouring,
      Mrs. Ruby Merlot
