    Hi guys to day I will be sharing my version of Ube Custard cake :D
    Caramel
    1 cup granulated sugar
    Flan
    8 eggyolks
    1 whole egg
    1 can 375 ml evaporated milk
    1 can 395 ml condensed milk
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 tsp vanilla
    For the Ube cake
    6 eggyolk
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1 1/2 tsp baking powder
    1 1/2 cup cake flour
    1 1/4 tsp ube flavouring
    1 /4 cup milk
    1/4 cup oil
    2-3 drops of purple food colouring (optional)
    For the meringue
    1/2 tsp cream of tartar
    1/2 cup sugar
    6 eggwhites

    Good thing this video still here. Can’t trust the new video’s made during pandemic, some are only after the revenue of the video, no proper tip of baking. Recipe might be there but na ah! I’rather scroll until I found old and more original baking.

    Baking this cake right now! I haven't used any flavoring or color, just freshly baked ube. My dough turned a bit denser since I had to use more ube to get more intense color naturally. It's more pinkish purple, but I like that there is no artificial ingredients in my
    cake. Great recipe!

    since the condense milk is super sweet, you can omit the sugar... keep your sugar level to par

    I tried your recipe but something unexpected happens. Instead using the recipe of the cake batter of ube custard I accidentally use your recipe for the Ube Chiffon Cake! Well actually not the whole recipe, just 1/4 of the recipe. AND it turned out great!!

    I just want to let you know that my cake is a success! I'm so proud of myself for making your cake. My family & I love cake, & my sister was pleasantly surprised when my mom & I brought out the cake to her in the dining room. So salamat for this recipe.     Nagawa ko na po Ma'am.. Di masyado nalasahan ang ube, kc yang ube halaya ang nilagay ko tapos coloring lang din.. Masarap naman po sya, kaso yung sponge po medyo dry e :(
    Yung purple yam powder pede ko po ba syang gawing flavouring? yun lang po talaga ang nakita ko.. Easy lang po sya gawin.
    Binawasan ko po ng bonggang bongga ang sugar kc po di ako mahilig sa tamis.. Yung 1/4 na sugar kaunti lang di pa umabot ng 1/4 at matamis pa din para sa akin.. Next time babawasan ko ulit :)
    Sana next time magawa ko na with ube flavoring..

      So far, so good. I just took the cake out of the oven & as soon as I pulled the toothpick out of the cake, it came out clean. As the cake was baking in the oven, my house smelled like ube. Tomorrow is the real test when my family & I will taste my creation, thanks to you. Again salamat for wishing me luck on making this cake for my sister.

    Baked this many times, it turns out really good, my only problem is that it takes really really long to bake much longer than the times suggested. Is my water not hot enough?

    Planning to make this for Christmas but I just want to ask about baking it at 160C that's 320F? Does baking it at that temperature make the cake more moist because usually the standard temp for chiffon cakes are 350F and I'm not a baker that's why I wanted to ask. Thank you so much for your help and your videos they are great!

      yes, and it slows down the cooking process so that it gives enough time for the flan to cook aswell

    Hi ....thank you for your lovely YT channel. Just one small question about the cake. Do I have to bake the custard caramel first, make the cake batch, poor it on top custard caramel and than again in the oven? I would like to make this soon. Thanks in advance for explaining.       Mon Chi no, they do go at the same time the principle is the flan will sink and the cake since its light it will float on the top of the flan . :D

    Hi, When you say ube jam do you mean I can use the one in the bottle as a replacement? Also if I am making this for a party how many people will this serve do you think?

      +ForeverFra yes you can use the one from a jar. Really depends on how big you cut the cake but it can serve 15-20 people

    Is it really 1 and 1/4 c ube flavoring? What can I substitute for ube flavoring if I don't have it? Is it possible to increase my ube halaya for the ube taste?

      Nova Maligro the ube flavouring is really essential in the recipe , you cannot add more ube halaya since its heavy it will deflate the air in the eggwhites.

      +mary grace manabat granulated sugar is fine, I don't see any difference if you use either caster sugar or granulated sugar, so no need to spend extra for caster sugar

      You will need allot and it will make the cake heavy And the texture will not good. The flavouring is really important

      yes you need water the flan will not cook without the steam

      You have to preset the oven at 160 deg C first before baking the custard cake (uncooked flan and batter)

      +Jheng Sweet no you don't have to cook the flan separately una ung flan then ung cake since ung cake very light it will just float on top you have to cook it in a bain marie though, 320 F

      no I put the ube batter directly since the ube batter is light it will float and they will cook at the same time

      cake flour is lighter, but you can use all purpose flour

      it will not be the same, and your cake will be dry since the ube powder will absorb the liquid that you put in to bloom

    can u omit the ube yam from the recipe and just use ube flavoring. and can u use this recipe to make cupcakes

      +Renewed Gal you can omit the ube , i have a recipe for ube cupcakes, maybe you should have a look at it, although I haven't tried to use this cake recipe for cupcake I know its possible

      the ube flavoring does not give the authentic ube flavor when mixed with any cake or cupcakes batter in my experience :)
