A dark fantasy action game inspired by the classic story of Pinocchio. This macabre Soulslike draws its inspiration from an unlikely source: The Adventures of Pinocchio. In this grim reimagining of Carlo Collodi's treasured tale, Pinocchio is trying to find the mysterious Mr. Geppetto.
It's sad how Romeo's plan and his intention to convince us to join him, failed due to a colossal misunderstanding on his part: All the time, he was convinced that we were his old friend Carlo....when in reality we are P. We are another person, constructed in Carlo's aesthetic and who, at least according to Geppetto's words, has inherited at least part of his personality.....but none of his memories. This is why, even if we were able to translate the dialogues of the puppets and Romeo, there is no possibility for us to join him and avoid the fight: We are not Carlo...and for P, Romeo is only the "King of the Puppets". An enemy to destroy....
P is Carlo, just without the memories. That's why in the rise of p ending geppetto says "I'm sorry, *son* " before he dies.
clearly, P is not simply made in Carlo's image. it is likely he IS Carlo, just without his memories. when you kill Romeo and come back to the Hotel, Sophia mentions how pale and sick you look when she mentions Romeo's necklace. he might not have his memories, but P clearly remembers that there has been something between him and Romeo. the memories might be gone, but the connection is as strong as ever. not to mention that the first time you physically change and become more human is when you return to the Hotel AFTER you kill Romeo.

The first Nier did that. You beat the game one time without understand anything the ennemy says, but the new game plus... Right in the feels.
That's exactly what I thought too. Hearing what the shades were actually saying was heartbreaking
I only realized in ng+ that the intro scene to the fight with geppetto taking P hearts is probably Romeo trying to warn you about Geppetto's plan, while in ng it looks like a threat or a sick joke...
I never noticed that either
I love that after showing you that, only then does he hop down, a smile on his face, reaching for your hand, like in his mind he's like 'Now he knows what's going on, time to team up with him :D'
Unlocking dialogues comprehension in new game + really reminds me of Wind Waker.

How did you manage to get this kind of dialogue to make Romeo speak?
In the game you get a dicoder and with it you can understand all puppets in ng+
wonder what he says when u die to him
He has three possible lines of dialogue.
"Who is the puppet? You or me?"
"The laws of the Grand Covenant bind us. We are its puppets."
"It's gonna be okay. I will always be with you, Carlo."

The unintended few seconds dance of dodging, weaving and counter attacking with the attack animations from 4:16 is straight fire too.
