    I wish there was a cross-examination. But there wasn't...
    Sigh...

Dr Horton's thoughts on paedo baptism are convincing, though he lost me on his sacerdotalism-ish leanings about real presence. Still love his books and much to think about here.

Michael Horton does not read Acts 2:39 correctly. A plain reading indicates that the promise is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is received by those who repent and are baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins. The promise applies to children who repent and are baptized as well as to people who are far off who repent and are baptized. Everyone who the Lord calls will repent and be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit.

Debates like this one echo the need for the authority of the Church to actually be the foundation and pillar of truth as Timothy tells us. For something as essential as baptism we shouldn't be debating methodology. As for faith alone it has never been and never will be faith alone. We are saved BY grace THROUGH faith FOR good works. (eph 2:8-10).

Jeffrey Johnson's position is quite confusing. Is it the definitive Particular Baptist position?

Thank you for asking. No, it is not definitive. He has been criticized by other baptists on various points. See www.1689federalism.com/republication-the-mosaic-covenant-and-eternal-life/ and www.1689federalism.com/2015-founders-conference-w-commentary/
