I'm learning many of the pre-LA Motown hits for a tribute band and appreciate you posting this. At first glance, I though you were missing something here but, after listening to the original track, I'm thinking your version is spot on. It didn't sound or feel like Jamerson because it probably isn't...or there are two basses playing different melodies. Some folks say that Tony Newton or Carol Kaye played on this one. It definitely sounds like Kaye. Thanks for posting.
