I’m a ‘95 baby and LOVE Carpenters, Karen’s voice is like no one else’s, I wish we could have been living when she was… but we can carry on her and Richard’s legacy! And I agree, their songs have actual melodies and true feeling, they’re authentic. The songs these days don’t even come close.
God, can we stop this nonsense with bashing today's generation of music? There's still plenty of artists who aren't rapping nonsensical lyrics and auto tuning their voices. Y'all only hear the bad ones because of what's trending and too wrapped up in your survivor bias to try anything new.
@@melissaborbely9181 there's lots of good musicians out there who write beautiful and authentic music you're just hearing the wrong ones. No need to bash new musicians to praise others. In fact, there were plenty of bad songs back in the day, y'all just remember good ones and biased because they're old.
Only Karen Carpenter could do such a perfect remake that was originally done by the marvelous Marvelettes. The song was done perfectly by the Marvelettes but Karen did such a fantastic job doing a such a classic that would be a task to match the original. Thank you dear father for blessing us with such talents as Karen Carpenter and the Marvelettes. Never again will beautiful music and such talent like this be discovered.
In Brazil, Carpenters was a huge success in the 70s, it's impossible not to be moved by Karen's voice...beautiful songs that take me back to my childhood, and today I say to my daughters: this is music!
I love this video. Brings back fond memories of even earlier times, the 1950s and 1960s. It is fortuitous that Karen selected to record this in a video. She was her usual excellent self. Rest in peace dear Karen.
Dear Tonya, Building a boat to row/sail in Cedar Key. Cooke’s Seafood works constantly and always friendly to beginner questions. By the way I see Beachwood when I hear Karen and her musicians, and the tree too!
Karen's Voice is like honey and liquid GOLD.... SO UNWINDING AND BRINGS BACK WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF BEST MOMENTS OF OUR LIFE SHE WENT AWAY TOOOOO EARLY... RIP SWEETEST HEART KAREN....AMEN
I was 6 years old when Karen Carpenter died, but I grew up listening to the Carpenters because my Dad loved them. I'm 47 now, and I can't believe she was so young when this came out. Her body looked so frail, she didn't even look anywhere close to her age (or even mine). Anorexia took such a unique voice from us. A whole other younger generation could have benefitted from how soothing she sounds. It's also so recognizable that even my millennial husband could tell it's her even though he doesn't listen to the Carpenters.
the guitar player, sax player and Richard Carpenters are truly gifted as if they were meant with each other. They all have great talents including of course Ms. KC
What an incredible singer and drummer! It’s very sad that she struggled with being comfortable in her own skin and everything that came from it. Rest In Peace, Karen 1950-1983❤
Listening to this is so bittersweet. It was a personal favourite of Karen and she gave it her usual golden touch. Unfortunately, it was the last single release by the Carpenters prior to her February 4th, 1983 death. RIP Legend.
This song has aged well. When it came out I didn't like it. But relistening now, I think the vocal and arrangement is up there with other Carpenters' classics.
OMG... that is so good, so campy, better than the Original version of the song. I never even knew about this video. Karen is adorable as always and upbeat too. I wonder if there is a video for please mr. Postman. Is there anything she sings that isn't better than an Original version by someone else? I like the Original version too but this is so ....Karen' voice....and it seems so natural, so effortless.
Her ever-so-lovely family (okay, maybe not Richard) made a point for several years of telling her she was fat. Another argument for why the Family as an institution is toxic.
Olivia, anorexia nervosa is a serious mental disorder. It goes so much deeper than anyone thinking they're fat. Karen had the disorder for 8 years starting in 1975. There was precious little information or understanding about it back then. It was Karen's struggle and death which brought it out of the shadows. Her death literally prompted much more proactive research by psychiatrists. However, too little, too late. : (
What a beautiful song. She was so thin when this was filmed, she might still be alive today had she gotten proper help sooner.
Karen Carpenter voice was like liquid gold she could sing a telephone book God bless Karen
True, she's singing about wanting a call right here!
I was born in '94 and absolutely love the carpenters and songs from their era. Not a big fan of modern songs. Songs now days are just not timeless.
So glad to hear next generations will carry on their Legacy! Thank You so much!
Sad she died so young she looked very thin here

Before almost anyone was making videos. They really were ahead of their time.
Arh, not really. The song is older but this video is from 1981.

Beautiful woman, great duo. Very sad day when she passed. Still sorely missed. I grew up with their music. Thank you Richard and Karen
This song makes me wanna go to the beach and dance on the sand 😄

Carpenters music in general makes me miss California, so by extension, the shore!

Buen tema de The Carpenters incluído en el disco Made In America Sello AM Records año 1981 En La Aterciopelada Voz de Karen Carpenter
It's so easy to see how thin she was. So sad. She is my most favorite singer ever. Such a great voice.
💕💕💕💕💕

Yes there is a Please Mr. Postman video filmed at an amusement park.

Olivia she was very ill.
Yes, she was VERY ill by this stage. NO one could help or convince her.
Olivia me either, but the made for Television Movie, explained it all & broke my heart ❤️ at the same time R.I.P.

What girl in the 60s didn't have a pink princess phone in there room I know I did
Diane Brown me too!🤗
Was it taken from the "Made In America" Album by The Carpenters in 1981?
Yeah
Nobody comes close .. remember there were no voice enhancements tricks like today
Depends on how you define voice enhancements; there sure was multi track overdubbing.
Ronnie Tutt on the drums at 2:38.
Marvin Gaye played drums on the original by the Marvelettes.
We didn't know, but this 1982 LP was a farewell to Karen😢
nice
Chris newton-john you have it all done
Cool guitar riff from Tony P there!
Thank you, Karen ❤
John Cleese on the Sax 🎷
This was 1981, Culture Club came out the next year, 2 years later Madonna was singing Borderline. Do the math
Madonna first hit was in 1982 with Everybody followed by Burning up then Holiday Lucky star then Borderline, Do the Maths 👍
Which was better and lasted better
Sadly, the reality of the music scene is so often cruel....
George, ‘Have to say cruel in financial way, yet not spiritually.
If you haven't heard it, check out the original by The Marvelettes
Originally recorded by The Marvelettes as was Please Mr Postman.
not to be crude ,but this reminds me why i would get a woody each time i heard Karen sing
It was not only Karen Carpenter because I saw Richard there as well!
Eterna

32.... so sad

Sometimes being fat is genetic, just like me having small bones. You can't really change it unless you use exogenous hormones like Hgh or clenbuterol
We really don't need your cold input here, so go away!😎
Anyone know who the guy is playing the sax because he has been in some other videos of the Carpenters.
Sad thing is she only wanted to sit at the back playing drums...Love the male dancers looking at them now. Camp as, you don't notice it as a kid.
Rjd I already have it all to u
I don't believe it. She was only 31 years-old in this video. Very young and sick.
She looks so skin
Ya estaba bastante delgada con su enfermedad. Que lastima por tremenda perdida Artistica.

Just wandering if The Carpenters paid The Marveletts money to record and publish their song?
Who ever has song writing credits or the rights to the song gets paid I guess
Wow, just found out Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson wrote this song!
