I've grown up loving The Carpenters, it broke my heart when I watched her documentary. She is not only beautiful but her voice is out of this world. I've raised my kids on this type of music, and I love when I hear my 12 year old singing along to real music and appreciating real musicians.

iwas born in 1979 so i was a toddler when karen died but i have always loved her she didnt look very well in this video i dont think

she suffered badly from depresion and anorexia. she collapsed on stage a few times and was put into rehab. but nothing helped.
it was down to a boyfriend she had knocking her around and saying she was fat and ugly. she moved in with richard her brother too feel safer but then rumours started flying around they were sleeping together which is what killed her. she just couldnt handle everything going on around her.
beuitiful lady with a voice to match. music critics put her down saying she was boring and couldnt sing which made her even more depressed but she carried on singing anyway.
loved the carpenters since i was about 10. im now 60 and still love karen.
she died young cause of all the haters putting her down.

This was one of my Dad’s favorite songs and he used to play it on Sundays for me in the late 70s and especially after Karen passed. He passed in 2007

I love watching this because Karen looked so genuinely happy to be at Disneyland.
KC was a disneyphile, look at her room decor, fans give her mikey mouse dolls at her grave in Westlake Village. I remember seeing an interview with a friend of KC trying to get her to eat by promising her an outing to Knotts Berry Farm if she would eat. I would say she was an amusement park fan

@@U2QuoZepplin Thats just what I was thinking, but bear in mind that Richard & his songwriting partner John Bettis had briefly previously worked at Disney. Apparently they were supposed to constantly play the same old historical tunes but frequently broke off into playing crowd-pleasing chart hits of the day - much to the annoyance of their boss who pretty soon sacked them - and his name was... Mr Guder! (Now those weirdly out of character anti-establishment lyrics suddenly make sense right? :-))

What range and tone perfect. No other woman could sing like her. I’m 61 and it was a tragedy for someone that talented to die so young. Not very many people can sing and drum with the precision she had. According to her family she was saved by Christ at a very young girl. Singing in heaven. Thank you.
Just seen a UA-cam clip comparing her voice pitch live vs studio via computer live she was more accurate as in perfect. In studio recordings AFTER engineers have setup for a record her voice wasn't so perfect. They messed with perfection,!!!!

This was the first Carpenters song I remember hearing as a kid when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Even though it doesn't really showcase Karen's incredible vocal abilities like For All We Know or Superstar does I would still be in awe of that angelic voice coming through the radio . Once you hear Karen sing for the first time you never forget it.

The Carpenters were my #1 favourite from childhood, until I discovered Fleetwood Mac in the mid eighties.
Karen's voice still gives me goosebumps, and always will.

This is the least Carpenterized cover I have ever heard them do. All of the covers they did sound like Carpenters songs. They are so different than the version they are covering. But this song actually sounds like a cover a song by an entirely different group.

This lady was a beautiful person inside and out. She definitely had the voice of an angel. She had so much going for her. It is so sad that she died at such a young age. I think that het music and her memories will live on forever
She was a beautiful person....poor woman just did not see it in herself. That marriage was a major setback. My niece died of the same thing in March of this year....she was only 27. Karen Carpenter was so talented.....still greatly missed. Fly high Karen and my niece Sarah.
