      @@andrewsparkes8829 he isn't grumpyish or apathetic though. His stage persona has a very good way of seeming slightly miffed about most things and also really passionately positive about things without leaping about the stage and he has a subtlety and wittiness to him. James Acaster is James Acaster. He isn't another Jack Dee/Gregg Davies or a Michael Mcintyre or any of that. He's 100% James Acaster.

My point was "comedians have put on an annoyed/grumpy/miffed/angry/etc personality for years". I was not saying he was a horrible person in reality. Merely pointing out he isn't that different to Stewart Lee or Jack Dee.

    • @emdiar6588
      @emdiar6588 5 років тому +17

      Why would anybody have thought that? I bet if you'd asked 1000 people if they ever thought they'd one day see Naomi Campbell sitting next to James Acaster whilst he was wearing an orange turtleneck. not a single one would say yes. They would probably look at like you'd gone mad - not because of the arrangement of circumstances you describe, but for the fact that you would be asking them if they spent time thinking such things.. I mean, why would it even cross anyone's mind? No one has ever thought that.
      There's no need to say 'honestly' as if you feel your bold claim may be met with scepticism and doubt. We believe you. It's hardly unexpected.
      Personally I don't think I'll ever see Claudia Schiffer sat next to Russell Howard whilst he's wearing green corduroy dungarees, but if it ever happens, I won't suddenly be surprised that it had never entered my head to predict it.
      Or do you usually spend time thinking about which combination of celebrities dressed in particular items of clothing of a specific colour and style you are one day going to see, and just when you're sure you've thought of them all, you see this one. So surprised are you that you'd never thought you'd see it that you decide the world should know? Well thanks for the heads up. If there are any other highly plausible things you see that you had failed to predict, please keep us informed.

      @@genericname8727 it would have been the answer to the question. She would have either agreed and expanded on why or disagreed and given an opinion why another year was better, or why assessing one year as the best is absurd. Instead she disregarded the question entirely and said something barely relevant about herself. The question fading into nothingness, the expectation set by the asker made defunct. Would have much rather had the question answered. Your opinion of a year of music's quality vs what you're doing with an artist that got brought up by secondhand afterthought to put the light on yourself. I'll chalk it up to them not knowing how to play ball conversationally with acaster and trying to be a part of things.

    He's kind of a blend of Lee Mack, Sean Lock and Ross Noble + his own unique style, quips and qwerks. Then his stand up has the Billy Connolly-esque seamless storytelling where there is not always a defined set-up -> punchline. AND THEN the total willingness to break character/4th wall on a routine is amazing. This is all IMO, but what a phenomenal comedian.
