  • Watch as Allyn shows the different methods of wiring two subwoofers in a box with separate chambers.
    "How do I wire two subwoofers in a enclosure with separate chambers?"
    The methods include:
    1) running the wires directly to the amplifier from the terminals
    2) wiring the subwoofers together at the terminals
    3) wiring the subwoofers together inside the subwoofer enclosure.

      I think you just join the positive to positive and negative with negative and run it the the amp

    So would wiring them outside the box still create the same effect?
    Thanks 🙏

    I usually split the wires and drill a hole for each wire making it tight as possible, then caulk or 5 minute epoxy both sides of each wire. Also put caulk/epoxy on the wire once it's close and finish pulling it through so there's some inside as well as outside. Leaving it totally undisturbed till cured.

    I have a 2014 f150 with a factory subwoofer, and the amplifier is not with the subwoofer. Can i take this subwoofer out and tap into the wires for the rca outs if these are the wires from the amplifier?

    Silicone does work very well, it's nearly impossible to pull the wire out if you do it right. I also like the way it smells, kinda weird....

    My preference is to use two separate terminal cups. One for each speaker or maybe even one for each voice coil equaling 4 on dual voice coil speakers. This way you can change your wiring any time you like without removing the speakers from the box. You never know if your going to get a different amp or want to add more speakers requiring a different configuration. Thanks for the vids Sonic Electronics. Keep em going..

    What kind of amplifier should I get if I want to connect two speakers and a sub up to it? The speakers are 4 ohm each and have 40W RMS. The sub is a DVC with 4 ohm on each voice coil and 600W RMS.

    Use a bolt.... Connect wire terminals to each side and crimp the wires to the terminals... Boom no leaks and no silicon and no rattle but if u wanna use silicon it works just as well depends how u wanna see it looking inside

    hi
    i have a problem and i need someone to help me!!!
    i have a woofer box with 2 50 watt speakers with 6-8 ohms impedance each will this work if i connect it to a 75 watt amp with an unknown impedance
    what impedance will it have to be for it to work?
    also is there a device i can put somewhere in the circuit to change the impedance to match?
    cheers toby

    hey allyn,
    can you help me out.
    i have 2 subboxes with both a single 4ohm coil.
    i want to wire them in parrallel for a final 2ohm load to my monoblock.
    can i just take the both + wires from the subboxes and wire them together to go in to the amp
    same for the - wires from the subboxes to the amp.
    wil this work for a final 2 ohm load.
    thanks alot.

    • @IAUFA
      @IAUFA 7 років тому

      When you put 2 4ohm speakers together you get 2ohm as long as the speakers are together, no special wiring is needed... meaning you put both negatives together and both positive together. going into the amp. There are a few ways of doing this. depending on the gauge wire you use. If its not a thick gauge you can just join them at the amp. If you use thick gauge like 8 gauge or 4 gauge then you use a distribution block to connect them then you run a single wire for both positive and negative to the amp. i hope this helps.

      Grimey 1991 do I have to use a distrubtion block I’m using 8 gauge but if I conjoined them it would still fit into the amp

    If all the power has to pass through 1 subwoofer first before it goes to the other id think thats gonna make a resistance issue for one sub, the sub closest to the amp or 1st in line takes the brunt of the bass hit and the 2nd sub will get the residual. Is that not how it works? My recommendation is to have separate terminals and join the wires at the amp and run equal lengths of wire to each terminal. Doesnt that make more sense??

    • @MakeItHappenOriginal
      @MakeItHappenOriginal 4 роки тому

      Obviously depending on how u need to wire your coils and how many channels your amp is but i think each sub needs a direct line to the amp.

    I can't stand terminal cups as they don't accept larger gauge speaker wire, anything large in power needs some nice 8 awg wire. I prefer the drilling method.

      THATS BECAUSE PEOPLE DO NOT USE RING TERMINALS TO BOLT DIRECLTY TO INSIDE OF TERMINAL CUP NUT. THEY USE FEMALE SPADE CONNECTORS TO SLIP OVER THAT GARBAGE TINFOIL SPADE TERMINAL CUPS COME WITH. Pro tip: remove spade, crimp ring terminal on speaker wire, reattach nut that was holding the spade on but now its holding speaker wire on.

    • @jhon614
      @jhon614 3 роки тому

      Running voice coils in series adds their resistences. Running them in parallel divides the ohm rating by the number of parallel connections. So your goal is to wire your subs in series, parallel, or series parallel (because you have 4 voice coils, 2 on each sub, you can run each sub's voice coils in series and then connect the subs together in parallel if you want). Anyway, you probably need to get a cheap multimeter and use the ohm setting to test your configuration. Wire the speakers and then connect the tester to the wires that you intend to connect to the amp. You're shooting for 2 ohms at the amp.
      I can help you with the math, but the only thing I'm not sure about is whether a company labels a sub as 2 ohms if it has 2 ohm on each voice coil or through both. I assume it's each coil because otherwise you have to decide if you're going to wire it in series or parallel just to calculate the ohms.
      If each voice coil is 2 ohms and you want to use 2 wiring cups, wire each speaker to its own cup with the voice coils on each speaker wired in series (+ cup to + coil #1, - coil #1 to + coil #2, - coil #2 to - cup). This will get you 4 ohms at the cup. Do this on both sides. This gives you 2 cups with 4 ohms each.
      The rest depends a bit on the amp you're using, but I'll assume it's a single channel with a single + and a single - terminal (Some amps, even mono block single channel amps, can have multiple speaker lugs). Now wire the cups together in parallel (+ cup #1 to + cup #2 and - cup #1 to - cup #2) with a common lead for your combined positive and another common lead for your combined negative to go to the amp. Wiring both 4 ohm cups in parallel will drop the ohms down to 2 ohms at the amp.
      AGAIN, PLEASE CHECK THE CONFIGURATION WITH A MULTIMETER BEFORE CONNECTING IT TO THE AMP!
