    most people flip the leveled board then place the 2 pieces of plywood on the flat surface. Not sure which way makes more sense or it even matters but thought I would point it out. Seems like half your glue is just sitting in the gaps instead of sticking.

    • @laurynfromtheLAB
      @laurynfromtheLAB  7 місяців тому

      We just didn’t bother flipping it but you could still do it! We actually took it apart earlier this month since we are moving and the glue is holding up to the OSB without issue. But the screws are the more important piece here
      It’s so sturdy even after we just took our circular saw and cut it in half to make moving easier. I’m pretty sure my hubby dropped it without issue since I’m pregnant and can’t help him lift it

    • @jones786
      @jones786 4 місяці тому

      I was wondering about this as well. Does it matter which side is facing up vs. down -- the "stepped" side vs. the flat side? Only benefit I can think of is upper layers adhering to the bottom layer by attaching to a more flat surface. However I would still worry somewhat about the contact between the "stepped" surface and the floor--is there a lot of pressure on those narrow points where it contacts the floor? Will those compress over time? Am I overthinking it??

      My platform is a T so the front portion is 4 x 8.
      Based on Calculator it puts out the below.
      Slope 1" | Plywood Leveling Thickness is .25"
      # Sheets Needed 4 sheets | length added 19.2
      Cuts: 1-19.2, 2-38.4, 3-57.6, 4-76.8
      Would I only need 2 sheets and do cuts 1 & 2? or would I do all 4 cuts, just needing 2 sheets?
      Could you clarify what you mean by using only first half of cut lines?

      Hi Brando, thank you for being such an awesome person and asking these questions! It helps me find out how I can help with more videos. And I’m super glad my videos are also helping you with your own home gym setup.
      Regarding the T shape, I am assuming because your rack is already built, you’ll be sliding the T into your rack and not putting the uprights on top of the platform.
      You’ll want to use the first half of measurements, meaning use Board 1 and Board 2. Check out the newest update to get a clearer understanding of what I mean by the cuts!
      I’ve also updated the app to include 4’x8’ and 4’x4’ levels! And I added a portion for the T platform as well. Just beware that the 4’x4’ recommends 4’x4’ plywood sheets.
      Please ignore any VALUE errors in the PDF, there’s a bug that is out of my control. It may show up on mobile but it didn’t show up on desktop.

    what keeps it's from sliding out of place? my garage is cement and and slants. we are looking to level it to install a dancer pole. I don't want to bolt anything to garage floor.

    • @laurynfromtheLAB
      @laurynfromtheLAB  2 роки тому

      Currently it’s on top of horse stall mats that were individually cut to help fill the entire space. It’s really heavy and also has the rack sitting on top of it. We didn’t bolt it down but it’s so heavy it hasn’t moved! I recommend putting it on top of something with friction

    • @laurynfromtheLAB
      @laurynfromtheLAB  2 роки тому

      For a dancing pole, that may be a bit harder unless you reassure it’s super pressure fitted. I’d imagine the pole would be more in the middle of the floor, so I’d recommend going as far back against the wall with less slope and level on that edge. Make it large too so there’s less chance of sliding

    This vid makes no sense to me :/
    I’m making a 12 foot platform going long ways towards the garage door
    Lets say the rise is 2.5 inches (about 1-1.5 degrees I think)
    I’m not sure how using the calculator uses the 4x4 measurement or if you want to just lay a 4x8 and a 8x8 side by side, which orientation is the calculator assuming for the 4x8?

    • @laurynfromtheLAB
      @laurynfromtheLAB  Рік тому

      You can try watching someone else’s video along with this! There are a lot of videos that are super useful and I am mainly just providing the calculator.
      All measurements for 4x8 are assuming you are placing the long ways towards the garage door because it wouldn’t necessarily be too bad of a slope the other direction and you wouldn’t really need to correct for the slant. I’m assuming you’re making a 4x12 platform. Create the 4x8 platform, then create a 4x4 platform. Put them side by side. You’ll need to add boards to the bottom of the one closest to the garage door to make them the same height

  • @carloscortes9570

      @carloscortes9570 2 роки тому

      Or how do we measure that

    • @laurynfromtheLAB
      @laurynfromtheLAB  2 роки тому +2

      It’s dependent on the slope of your garage! I purchased an 8’ long piece of lumber, 1”x2” works. I made sure it was as straight as possible, then I lifted up the board until level and measured the height from the board to the floor. It’s one of the first steps in the video.
      Once you have that height, plug it into the calculator and that will tell you the length of the cuts plus how many boards you should buy

      @laurynfromtheLAB  Рік тому +1

      Hey Tom, thanks for asking this question! Regarding the 12'x12', I could make it BUT it may be super confusing. I'd recommend creating multiple. 1 8'x8' platform then 1 4'x8' platform. Then follow the instructions I created for the 12' long one by adding boards to the bottom of three 4'x4' levels until they match the height of the rest of the boards.
      Or you can follow the 4’x12’ instructions and make 3 of them. This may be a whole new video because comments don't do it justice at all!

    • @laurynfromtheLAB
      @laurynfromtheLAB  Рік тому +1

      For the 10'x10' piece, for the sake of saving money, I'd follow the instructions for a 12'x12' platform and just rip down the end pieces by 2' respectively and use a 2'x2' instead of 4'x4' to finish the missing corner.
      As for the page cutting off, I will see if it's something I can fix on my end. I think because I added more info it shifted over to a new page. You can also try zooming out when printing to PDF to see if that helps but I will work to fix this.
