Thank you so much for this Video Michael. I’ve just bought a 2006 Polaris Sportsman 700 & it needs the steering bush replaced. I’ll check the bearing while I’ve got it apart, thanks to you showing it done. Cheers from Oz mate. 😊👍🏼🇦🇺
Thank you bro! I got the 2008 Polaris 800 sportsman. It took about an hour last night to replace the upper steering bushing after watching your video. Didn’t even have to take the gas tank off. Got it with taking the vent off in front of the gas tank. This video is God sent!
I'm a professional automotive mechanic, but I don't have access to ATV maintenance manuals like I do for automotive, so I turn to UA-cam. Michael does a better job on his videos than just about anyone I've seen. Thanks Michael!
Another great video Michael. I appreciate all you do for those of use that are seeking out info on how to get things done. I especially appreciate all the "tips" not only on what to do but also on what not to do. Keep 'em coming Michael and thanks again for sharing your time and knowledge.
Brother, you are a god send! Just got the parts in for my 2001 Sportsman 500 - this is the first video I found that showed how to get to these two bushings and how to replace them!!
I watched your video for the removal of the gas tank so I could get to my fuel injectors. I figured as long as I have it this far apart I will replace the bushing like you did. Great video, thank you!
Thank you for the video. This is probably the most comprehensive and inclusive video I have seen to address this specific problem. Appreciate the info and look forward to your other do it yourself videos.
I really enjoyed this video. Very comprehensive instructions. I have a 2006 Sportsman 800 efi. My upper bushing is completely gone, as was almost every bushing in the suspension. I'm going to try to take the headlight off and do it that way but I'm very glad to have this video if it comes to that. I learned alot about my machine from this video and I found your voice really relaxing so I think I'll watch more of your videos especially relating to this 4 wheeler.
I glad you are getting something out of me videos. I do them to help out whom ever needs them. I hope you get your done. It make a difference when all your bushings are there...Good luck!
@@michaelyoucanfixthat I did get it done, thank you and I knew exactly what I was looking for thanks to your video. I've got a burb daily driver that needs a heater core now and I noticed you have a video on that also, so I'm inspired for that to be my next project. Thanks!
@@asharadayne1355 That heat core is a long job but if you just try to give yourself two days it would not be that bad. But I glad you got the ATV done. We are checking the project off the list. Good luck..
Thank you for your video. I appreciate you getting right to it and avoiding the unnecessary filler others implement. This will aid me greatly in addressing the excessive steering play on my 800.
Great video. Note, this is the exact same process for the 450 model of the same year. Also, if you only need to replace the upper bushing, you don’t need to remove the gas tank, but you still need to remove the clutch breather in order to make room to put the upper bushing back in.
Watched your video so I would know how to take all of this off to remove my valve cover. Great video and I went through it with ease due to your help. Appreciate you man!
Wow, supersonic video. I had to do a similar repair and was closer to six hours into just taking it apart. Sure wish I had located your video first. Thanks.
Will you know what you got to do. I hope the video helped. Tomorrow I will be doing the front ball joints and front A-arm bushing. So look for that video soon. Thanks for watching.
Great Job Brother!! Your hints helped me avoid the pitfalls you mentioned in your video. I tried to video my repair and I always seemed to be in the way. Ride Safe! Happy Hunting!
Im so glad u did this vid my bushing on the top is completely missing bought a 2003 700 sportsman and rebuilding it my self and its a learning process down here in ocala
Good job on the videos man! I'm working on a 2000 xpedition 425. I was able to get a big crescent on the castle but and get my old man to turn the handle bars to real it loose!
My 850 XP handlebars are shaking all over the place. I looked under the headlight pod and the entire bushing is gone and pieces of it were laying down there! I ordered new bushings for it. Thankfully, mine is not hard to get to. Nice job!
Yes, most people don’t look at them steering bushes until it to late. I hope that is your only problem with that. I replaced almost everything on the front end and mine still shakes when I get around 40 mph. The only thing I have not replaced yet is the tire rod ends and they are next. Thanks for the comment.
@@michaelyoucanfixthat Yours still shakes? Wow! Mine only has 220 miles on it and the bushings were completely gone. I have power steering too but that part is solid. It's just the top bushings. I have no idea how that happened. Polaris can't seem to get that right on these machines for some reason.
Very helpful video, explained all the steps with detail ,but it sure is a pain to do that especially for such small things, trying this out later this week
offroad outdoorist 03 Thanks for the great comment. Yes, it’s a lot of work. So if you have to do it. Make it wealth it. Change you spark plugs, check all your wiring. While you can get to all that with no fenders in the way. Good luck.👍🏽
Good job…like your work. I’ve got a 2010 sportsman 400 that I have to replace that upper bushing. I just about have to do the same exercise just to replace the battery (between the frame under the gas tank)!
I'm in New Zealand... Where can I buy the bushings and bearing kit? No quad bike shops have these parts. Do you have the part numbers for these please. Thanks.
Curious. Not if you're still on here... But... Did replaceing the lower bearing fix anything with the shaking. I replaced the upper and it did nothing. If you see this. Let me know if it worked before I tackle this. Thx. Tyler
It help some. I still have the shaking about 45mph. Before around 35 to 40 it would start shaking. I’m going to try the tie rod end next. I want to try different rims to see if one of my rims is bent but has not got around to that yet.
i subscribed great vid my 06 sportsman 500 efi may be having this done in the summer. have you had any problems with your fuel gauge not reading or stuck. mine is at full and will be looked at. I may vid it and show it, but not sure. hopefully I can get mine apart as smooth as you did. Glenn.
No, I have not had a problem with my gas hand wrong. But if you have that problem. Its always a good thing to video it. It will help someone. I hope your repair goes smooth.
I've had trouble with an 800 fuel sensor since the getgo... Always shows full until the tanks starts running lower, then it finally starts working.... But the past few years, the gauge has completely stopped working, doesn't even show up on the speedometer anymore.
Kanuck OutDoors I know the fuel level sensor on my Polars is just like a car. It is on the front right side of the gas tank. It looks like a fuel pump for a car without the pump. It had 2 wires coming from the front under to handle bars. And it has a float that goes up and down depending on fuel level. Maybe the wire has disconnect or broke. Or it just played out. But here is a digraph of an 05. I hope the link works. If not copy and paste. www.2wheelpros.com/oem-parts/images/diagramlg/0000081866.gif.
Jesus R The only thing I think it could be. There is a bolt under the bottom of the the handle bar shaft. Where they tie rod are. Under the plate that holds all that together. That’s the only thing I can think of right now. I hope that helps.
Jesus R Those bolts up there will make the handle bars move back and fourth. It may feel like the handle bars are going up or down. But if they are real moving up or down can only the bolt at the bottom of the handle bar shaft. But I’m sure that upper bushing is bad too. Just because of the age of the ATV.
The BassHunter i was looking at it earlier and yes the uper bushing was broken already so i went and order it online another question is why does it pull a little the left side when i ride the atv?
Jesus R The alinement is off or a tie rod bent. Witch will make the alinement off. You might want to shorten the left tie rod one turn at a time. Ride it between turns to see if it got better or worse. Don’t go to far because once’s you get it to far out. It’s hard to get it back. Like my ATV. I have replaced everything on the front end and I still have a shake at 30mph. I think I have a bent rim or something I can’t figure out.
You are eat up with common sense and are an excellent communicator. Thank you so much for the video.
