Nitrogen Generator Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting an ECS PGEN 10 nitrogen generator that won't build pressure. This nitrogen generator is on an older dry system that continues to develop leaks. This has put a lot of hours on the nitrogen generator.

Kinds of looks like a andrew dehydrator/ nitrogen generator they use for microwave radio cell sites, most of the time the compressor needs to be rebuilt or the nitrogen/dehydrator membrane needs a new one.

I’m at bolthouse Farms here in Bakersfield ca installed a nitrogen generator this past week. Have yet to turn it on. I had a question about the sensing lines location to the fire pump ?

Connect between the pump discharge check valve and control valve. Not sure if that's the question your asking.

the Compressor sounded weak when you fired it up. I used a Vacuum pump to test a compressor and found the compressor to be at fault. Just a thought.

Just wondering are you able to use a fluorescent dye like Green Gobbler Water Tracing Dye to try and find the pin hole leaks since they cant be found any other way

I don’t know of a dye that would be approved for fire sprinkler systems. The other issue is the pipe is covered in insulation and duct work in spots. That’s why I wasn’t able to find it (or them) with the ultrasonic leak detector.
