- Appalachian State vs. North Carolina: A much anticipated in-state rivalry that didn't disappoint as they fought down to the wire before the Mountaineers came away with the 34-31 upset. Freshman quarterback Sam Howell had a career-high 323 passing yards and three touchdowns in the game, but also threw 2 interceptions. Zac Thomas was productive for ASU with over 280 yards of total offense in the win.

AppState deserves this win, it’s about goddamn time. They took Tennessee and Pennstate to overtime at home, their program has been slowly creeping up on some big teams for a while now. Hard work and grit are what makes a team if AppState doesn’t show that religiously I don’t know what team does

drove 9 hours a week prior to this game to visit app state. they have a beautiful campus and the exact program I'm looking for and to see them beat an acc team just a week after I can't wait to go to college there

Also....the Sun Belt Conference is better than people may think. They've earned some wins this season over P5 teams and nearly beat a few others.
J. Thompson I think we may not go undefeated as the Sun Belt is really good this year like you said. Coastal Carolina beat Kansas and is 3-1, Louisiana only lost by 10 to Miss St and has killed the other teams they’ve played, Troy is always a good football team and we have to play them on the road, and Georgia Southern is also a great football program and they’ve always been a thorn in our side. I can see one of those teams finding a way to beat us this year. That said I think we also have a great chance to go undefeated, especially with all the talent on this team.

Sure, everyone does until you have to play a P5 team week in and week out...It's cool to get up for a game or two, but do they really think that they're ready for the EAST Division of the B1G? Or SEC? BIG 12? Then you need to recruit and just being in a P5 Conference doesn't mean that you're going to get the players to compete with the dogs on top.

ASU fans didn't storm the field, but we cheered like hell for 4 quarters and after the block. App is part of the UNC system of universities. We are in a G5 conference and UNC is P5. Anytime a G5 beats a P5 the media calls it an upset. They are the "flagship" of the system and their arrogant fans look at us like a red headed step child. They are "supposed" to recruit the bigger, faster, stronger athletes. Biggest difference, we take pride in our football program. For UNC football is a way to waste time until basketball season. We will never touch them in basketball, but our football culture has been superior for many years and we have the superior football program.
Get over yourself, you wait another 2-3 years then we will be playing with the big boys. Its only his first year back, get real

I’m n App fan. They played a great game, but I don’t see this as an upset.UNC was 2 and a half to 3 point favorites at home. Which means oddsmakers were seeing this as a toss up. It’s a game that App could win and they did.
It was an UPSET.. even if it was 7 points or 1/2 a point in the beginning of the game you got to admit, you thought your team was gonna lose, but they fought for that win..and they upset the Tarheels just like they did Michigan

Why this team is not at least top 25 is maddening. This is a very good team and has been for a couple of years. Their first year in FBS I think they had like 1 or 2 wins but since then they have picked it up. Awesome win for them and I've been rooting for them to get into prominence, fun team to watch.

He did less with more, yet gets treated like he's one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football because he's been able to rebuild losing programs (at schools with unlimited resources). He's a great recruiter, but an overrated x's and o's guy.
