I was impressed just from how you put the bag on the back of a vehicle, sliced it open & let it pour into the spreader. It's truly the little things, as I grow thru this process.
Great Channel! I've watched nearly all. 2 questions. First, if I were to use Lesco Fertilizer, how do I know which to use "19-0-6"? what are those numbers and how do I determine which is best for my lawn. Second, if we still have some concerns about the risks to children and pets could I get away with having a great lawn with Tenacity alone as a post emergent? Thanks for the insight and advice. Please continue with the great videos.
Like you, I live in MA and would like to know how you determine when to put the pre emergent down. Do you do it around the same date every year, or base it on the temp, or is it some other method, etc? My lawn is probably 90% crabgrass at this point, so I was just going to let it die this winter and try the pre emergent in the spring. Please let me know your thoughts.
Awesome video Silver, don’t forget to water that pre emergent in really well, needs 1/2” of irrigation or rainfall to work properly. Also pre emergents don’t stop all weeds, mostly used for crabgrass prevention :)
Unfortunately that I can't do, If you have seen my other videos, this area is the no water lawn. I have no hoses or sprinklers there, it's entirely only watered by rainfall. Fortunately I believe it will be raining here tomorrow. But you are 100% right that for best results it should be watered in. Great tip! Thanks for watching.
I love your videos, thank you for the help! i’m a MA resident like yourself and this is my first year attempting complete lawn care on my own. I want to do this pre emergent and fertilizer now (May 3rd) but will it be too late?
Can I put pre emergents in my flower beds without hurting bushes? What about along our road driveway, I typically spray round up but maybe this would be more effective? I know it technically isn’t the lawn but thought you would have the answer. Great videos! Keep them coming
Thank you very much-Yes you can use it in beds. I do some of that but do be careful not to spray bushes. The dye is handy since if you do, just remove those leaves if possible but leave room or use a cardboard shield.
My yard right now is overcome with weeds. Can I kill those with Tenacity and also use this pre-emergent, since it’s before spring or is that too much on the grass?
Excellent video! I plan on aerating first followed by adding grass seed then pre- emergent Lesco. Love to hear your thoughts on this plan.....,the pre-emergent won’t kill the grass seed will it??
The pre-emerg will stop the grass seed. I would skip the pre-emerg this year if you plan to renovate. Don't mess around, follow my proven method with over 1 million views and hundreds of comments from people that that did my simplified approach. You will still have time to enjoy life too! ua-cam.com/video/c54WSOI-MMc/v-deo.html
Silver Cymbal Sound advice! I will definitely follow this plan! Thank you Silver. I think I’ll need to spray the tenacity over my entire lawn!! I can do all three steps in a weekend 👍🏻 Thank you!
Silver I’m from Southern New Hampshire and the label on the back says this is for warm season lawns. I believe you’re in Massachusetts, so this exact bag is okay to use?
I used Tenacity for the first time in the Fall with good results. Can I use Tenacity without a surfactant in the Spring? My thought is not using a surfactant will enable it to be watered into the soil.
Thats great to hear. I don't personally use it that way, and it can be a pre-emergent under limited uses. I would use it as I showed for the best weed control for anything that should pop up. Everything you need to be weed free: Tenacity Weed Control: amzn.to/2JM4APm - Surfactant: amzn.to/2Xz6dod - Dye/Colorant: amzn.to/2Jta4yh 2 Gallon Sprayer: amzn.to/2xBJP3k
Excellent. Do you do any late fall "pre-emergents" to set yourself up for spring? -- or just good organic matter for the winter?? Thanks for the great vids. :)
Time to get out and put down the crabgrass pre-emergent. First of April best time for it. Lesco makes awsome products. Really enjoy going to my local SiteOne store. They have everything I need and are helpful. Lesco and Anderson me awsome spreaders top quality
When applying any weed killer I would advise wearing long pants, long sleeve shirt, high top boots, goggles, and breathing mask. Then wash clothes in a separate wash.
Very interesting. Many of them here are under scrutiny but the ones I use are very popular and have been around quite a well so at least they offer a better level of safety including with kids and pets. It would be even better if they could create bio products that had the same level of effect. Hopefully soon. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
I once watched a video where you use Tenacity. I fail to find it right now (because you have many good videos, and sometimes it isn't easy to navigate among them), but I recall you have a good wide coverage sprayer. What sprayer did you use? Or is it just a matter of nozzle? Thank you!
This is the project that I used it on ua-cam.com/video/VT73LKxPiWo/v-deo.html - Here is a very recent step by step for treatment with Tenacity: ua-cam.com/video/3RYe2HeOcQI/v-deo.html - Everything you need to be weed free: Tenacity Weed Control: amzn.to/2S0ATO2 - Surfactant: amzn.to/2Xz6dod - Dye/Colorant: amzn.to/2Jta4yh 2 Gallon Sprayer: amzn.to/2xBJP3k
I don't know much about lawn care...so I have question to ask you...after fertilizing in early spring, you don't recommend watering the grass right away? Also, my grass doesn't look lush, think and green. What would you recommend for me to do? Early spring seeding? Thanks for the video.
No, water in your fertilizer. It is best to keep an eye on the 7 day forecast, that way you save on your water bill. Put your fertilizer down the day before some rain. 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain is ideal. If its a little more or a little less it will be fine. Just make sure its not gonna be a down poor with severe storms. Heavy rain can make the fertilizer wash off your lawn. As for thickening up your lawn, yes, seeding will work. Again do it the day before scheduled rainfall like with the fertilizer, grass seeds need 1/3 to 3/4 inch of rain though. MAKE SURE to cut your lawn BEFORE seeding. Seeds need water and sun to thrive, your grass being tall will block the sun from getting to them. If you have anymore questions, let me know! Hope this helped!
Best bet is to have a lawn like mine. It contains over 20 species, resists drought, and has beautiful blooms (best in spring). It doesn't require ANY fertilizer, pesticides, or herbicides. We need to stop following outdated paradigms that are leading to the destruction of the environment. That, and it just doesn't look nearly as good as a well developed lawn ecosystem. The chemical landscaping industry is selling an ugly lie.
The negative I see here is that this is poison and ends up draining down to waterways. It's harmful to life. This year I went organic, used a ton of chicken manure, hand pulled out weeds. Have never seen so many good insects in the garden: (Bee's, butterflies, dragonflies, hover flies...). Pollination of plants was fantastic: happy days and no harmful chemicals.
Yes, I plan on going organic this year! Not like I wasn't before. I only mowed last year, no fertilizer, weed control, nothing. XD This year I'm using organic fertilizer and digging or pulling up any unwanted weeds. (some of them are beneficial so those I'm keeping, like flowering ones)
I was impressed just from how you put the bag on the back of a vehicle, sliced it open & let it pour into the spreader. It's truly the little things, as I grow thru this process.
Thank you very much I appreciate that.
I hope this video was helpful. Please give the video a thumbs up and subscribe for more videos!
Silver Cymbal I have to do my prediamine spray tomorrow with my lime application... we finally hit decent temps here in central NY.
Nice! Same here too!
Do you water the fertilizer in right away?
Just fertilized yesterday w/ my new Lesco spreader and Lesco product! I use Tenacity as well thanks to you!
Could you please share where the Lesco products are available?
Tenacity works great as a premergent. Can use it as you plant seed.
Go to site one. A spinoff from john deere.great people, great prices and products
Love his dog, so cute! thanks for vid, i am following all your advice and products that you use!
Thank you so much, very nice of you to say
Love the dog waiting for his ride in the back of the Kubota. I have cats that look out the window at me like "What on earth is he DOING out there?"
Thank you! Learning a lot from you. Plan to do some proactive weed control next season because my lawn care service has been terrible.

If I had that spreader I would keep it in the house, not the garage, the house. Great video.
Hehehe I wish I could keep it in the house too! Thank you for the comment and for watching my video. Best wishes to you.
Brian O dude spends some serious cash on the right stuff! Gotta love my new spreader, it sits in my living room! Lol #WiseInvestmwnt
Did you watered the lawn after you put the pre-emergent?

Cool season la name are easy compared to warm season where a liquid pre emergent is a must and fall application is the most important
i do some over seeing in the early spring. will a pre emergent kill new grass
do you use Lesko or The Andersons...in a 2020 video you say you use the Andersons brand. Did you switch from lesko to the Andersons?
I like using a hose end sprayer. do you have tenacity for a hose instead of a little sprayer. I have an acre
Just put that same product down yesterday. (Northern Mass) Going Lesco for all applications this year. Can't wait taee how it turns out
Great to hear. I am very impressed with their products and site one treats customers like human beings which now always isn't always the case.
donny0007 ...Lesco is golf course quality, you will be pleased with the results!!

In Europe all herbicide are no more authorised. It s way more difficult with bio products

why silver cymbal?
That's an American Eskimo...I had one he lived 15 years and was a great dog
Yes! That's great to hear about yours! Ours has really become another member of the family too.
Where can I buy Lesco products?
If you go to www.siteone.com they have stores across the country.
Thumb up for the dog. By the way it's a good advertisement for Kubota.
Thank you kindly and yes I agree! #Kubota, please send me a diesel UTV with heat and air conditioning please!!! 🙏
I watched to the end hahaha!
