Tuff is actually not very tough. In fact, the word for "tuff" eventually goes back to the Latin word "tofus" which is also the same root word for the Catalan word "tou" meaning "soft".

I physically keeled over in disappointment and chuckled when i heard this
As someone studying game development, almost everyone in my classes put little references in their pixel art textures. Usually it's a little amongus but sometimes it's more creative. So I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this were intentional.

I noticed that there are actually 2 skulls, it's just that the 2nd (and unsurprisingly less obvious) skull is awkwardly rotated.

For the bone texture, look at the middle, it's like 1/3 the size of the block, maybe 1/4. It's slightly to the bottom-left.

Pareidolia is a tough thing sometimes. We see faces everywhere and want to feel the face is there for a reason and not just our overactive imagination

I mean, I've noticed skulls and/or soulsand faces in cobblestone, bassult neatherack, and leaves. That makes some sense for neather native blocks like netherack and bassult, but not cobblestone or leaves.

That cracked tuff bricks joke caught me so off guard that I did a spit-take.

The cracked deepslate brick looks more like a content-aware-scaled sans.
I truly realize now that it truly is perfect!
First off the bone brick that resembled the skull does have some outside tthing that kinda reminds me of wings and skull with wings reminds me of a rock & roll band (i think it was rock & roll? idk i suck at identifying music genre) and second that cracked brick in the center has accidentally activated my dark humor which i see something else other than a face
the side texture of the bone block looks like a dark fountain or even the barrier

with the outline it just looks like a surprised ghost
The bone blocks should be fossils so if you look closely it looks like a small bug looking think or a fossilized skeleton. (Extra theory ) The way wither skulls are made is when the skeletons die in the soul sand valley they create fossils and then the soul flames catch the bones on fire and reanimating them and giving's then their charred look. Then they migrate to a hotter climate like the nether fortress and the warped forests because the valley is to cold as they need heat to keep the soul flames running in its bones and keeping it together. Then they grab one their bones to make a sword witch has wither to get sap life energy when it hits a player for a desperate reach for becoming human again.
This is a truely 💀 moment ever since i saw a 💀 and a 💀 block right now i feel the power of the 💀 coming inside my 💀 thank you for telling me this 💀 stuff
