    Just had this test on Friday. It took almost ten minutes to reach my target heart rate of 145bpm .I was full out running the last 3 min .I'm not a runner so my calves were on fire.it was worth it,found out I am in good cardiac health and achieved 10 mets which is good for my age.i have a physically demanding job, but don't really do any non work exercise .so I was a little surprised

    I wish doctors explained things like this during all medical test/procedures. I'm currently being told i have to do the nuclear stress test with the medicine that makes your heart speed up. But i'd rather do the treadmill. I'm on the verge of saying forget it.

      I have one in a few days on Monday. I'm canceling mine. They want to do the chemical stress test because I'm on metoprolol for tachycardia and said the metoprolol won't allow my heart to reach whatever it needs to reach while walking the treadmill. I can walk a treadmill as u walk every day outside. I'm gonna tell them to take me off metoprolol so I can do the walking instead of the frigging chemical shit that makes you feel like you can't breathe like in reading people say. I already have a bad anxiety disorder. That shit will cause me to go into a bad panic attack. Don't need that on top of that medication making my heart rate going higher. Glad I decided to check out what chemical stress tests are like.

    They did not tell me I would be placed under that imaging machine with my arms above my head for 15-20 mins. Clautrophobia triggered an anxiety attack. I could not complete the test. If you are prone to anxiety or claustrophobia bring your meds with you. This reaction is common. • @kocakabakh
      @kocakabakh 5 років тому

      This might be late to answer it is correct :D
      You just need to calculate %85 of "220 minus the age of patient"

    • @shanijanjua6946
      @shanijanjua6946 2 роки тому

      220 minus your age
      For example your age is 40
      Now 220-40=180
      Now 85%of 180 that would be your heart target.

      Thanks for your respond and let me tell you about myself i had triple bypass heart surgery 23 years ago and i am now 71 years old in the past five years i had swelling on my both lower legs and whenever i used to see a physician he was telling me that it is due to heat and nothing he can do about it than in 2015 i was having breathing problem and i was retaining water in my lungs and than i went to see the cardiologist and he found out that it was a heart failure but i am very positive minded person i did accept the facts but not fully and he prescribed me water pills 80mg and than reduced to 40 mg and than 20 mg the swelling went away and now i am taking 10 mg every alternative days and i am avoiding salt and get my blood test for potassium and sodium every three months.
      I am not a cardiologist but i have reading on internet and books and the swelling is due to blood is not pumping from bottom to up to the body in our heart there are two chambers on for pumping blood down and another blood from bottom to up the body and as the person age and efficiency decline i do not think that it is that one should worry you have to watch sodium and periodical check up and i hope that you will recover fast and nothing to worry about it and i personally feel that once you are taking the water pills and go for a walk will improve your condition .
      wish all the best and i wish you long life and best health and if you needs any further advise do not hesitate to write to me
