Just had this test on Friday. It took almost ten minutes to reach my target heart rate of 145bpm .I was full out running the last 3 min .I'm not a runner so my calves were on fire.it was worth it,found out I am in good cardiac health and achieved 10 mets which is good for my age.i have a physically demanding job, but don't really do any non work exercise .so I was a little surprised
@@Communityguidelinesagain Hmmm?🤔 At 50 years old your target heart rate should have been 170, right? I read that target rates are determined by subtracting your age from the number 220?
I wish doctors explained things like this during all medical test/procedures. I'm currently being told i have to do the nuclear stress test with the medicine that makes your heart speed up. But i'd rather do the treadmill. I'm on the verge of saying forget it.
I have one in a few days on Monday. I'm canceling mine. They want to do the chemical stress test because I'm on metoprolol for tachycardia and said the metoprolol won't allow my heart to reach whatever it needs to reach while walking the treadmill. I can walk a treadmill as u walk every day outside. I'm gonna tell them to take me off metoprolol so I can do the walking instead of the frigging chemical shit that makes you feel like you can't breathe like in reading people say. I already have a bad anxiety disorder. That shit will cause me to go into a bad panic attack. Don't need that on top of that medication making my heart rate going higher. Glad I decided to check out what chemical stress tests are like.
@@natep9997 How did it go? I suffer from anxiety too so the test felt basically like a panic attack... It was quick. I hope you did well if you went through with it.
I got this done last week. After the 3 types of meds in my I.V I walked one minute on the lowest treadmill cycle and felt like I ran 3 marathons. I couldn't breathe and even my legs were sore..talk about manipulating my body. I felt nauseated and had a bad headache. Yea there was side effects

Had the Nuclear Test test today and it was no problem. Took about 4 hours. This my 2nd test. Had the same test 3 years ago. I have never had the treadmill test. Video shows exactly what they do. Uncomfortable for 6-8 minutes during one injection after that no problem. Required by hospital prior to my Heart Cryoablation Procedure. Good video of I my test today.
They did not tell me I would be placed under that imaging machine with my arms above my head for 15-20 mins. Clautrophobia triggered an anxiety attack. I could not complete the test. If you are prone to anxiety or claustrophobia bring your meds with you. This reaction is common. I think they should have told me that before I drove two hours to the office and provided me with the worst day I've had in a year. Sometimes doctors make me sick.
I've had one before, but now I'm having some breathing problems. I'm nervous about having a good old fashioned heart attach on the treadmill. Is the medication to speed your heart up any better on you? Both my knees hurt but haven't went out from under me yet.
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 good choice, I also went for treadmill, but it was tough. At 65 they needed my heart rate up to 113 bpm I believe if not more. You'll see the shape your in after the test. Lol. Good luck to you Gloria. 👍

How is the target heart rate calculated? (220-age)*.85 ?
This might be late to answer it is correct :D
You just need to calculate %85 of "220 minus the age of patient"
220 minus your age
For example your age is 40
Now 220-40=180
Now 85%of 180 that would be your heart target.
