@@carolburnette2019 it went rather simply, actually. Shortly after checking on at my appt. time, my name was called by what turned out to be a very outgoing, friendly but prpfessional tech. or N.P. who sat me at a table & attached an I.V. Into my arm/vein, which was used for 3 different injections over my 3 & 1/2 hr. visit. First one, I took to show the flow & actions of my heart after a period of nothing but rest. The 2nd was after I ate some lunch & relaxed for about 40 min. It was bit freakier bc I felt it consume me just about instantly as my heart bagan racing and I felt an overwhelming dizziness throughout my body & head. A bit scary but they injected another little cocktail about 4 or 5 minutes later that brought me back down to earth & normalcy. After that, another calming period of sitting in a chair to fully relax. I then took my final EKG test. That included 10 leads stuck on my chest, sides & abdomen. Not at all painful - just slightly awkward feeling. They sat me (not even lying in a tube) on this machine that scanned & took readings of how well my blood flowed. Then finally I was released to go home. I was not given any results yet. I get my follow up in a couple more days, which is when I will be advised of how we move forward. Btw- there was a treadmill right in the room but, I was never asked to use it. Overall, it was an easy experience. I don't care to repeat it though.
I’m 23 and been having bad chest pains since like middle school and heart disease run in the family been getting real light headed and dizzy and sick to my stomach and my legs and arms has been going numb on me I’m not sure what’s causing it they wanted me to a nucular stress test but I don’t fell safe doing it where I have so much chest pain so ima do the treadmill run test does this show if you have a blockage somewhere
Go ahead and schedule a nuclear stress test. It will show if you have any blocked arteries or not. It is easy if you can walk on a treadmill for 12 minutes! I am 68 years old and I walked it! The radio active dye they inject doesn't have Any side-effects at all. So don't be afraid of this test! Do it to help clear your mind about any heart issues!😉
I swear when they sped up the treadmill on me i feel like they did the max. I felt like i was running faster thsn than i wanted to. They probably saw my physic and turnt it to the max😅. Im in great shape. Its harder than it looks for sure. I know a few times i ran 2 or 3 minutes straight fast speed. I was real tired at 10 minutes but pushed myself to 12. You dont have time to catch your breath. I felt pretty good afterwards. I was get nervous when my heart is beating that fast. It was intense. It felt like a really really intense workout. Nice music ❤
I am scheduled to go in for this test. The hospital told me that I cannot wear a bra for the treadmill due to all the hookups. I do not see how I am supposed to exercise like this without a bra when it hurts not to be supported just sitting at a table. Even a sport bra without underwire does not give enough support and I won’t be able to exercise like this video. I am very nervous about the alternative of just taking the Lexiscan from other comments I have read on the Internet. Has anyone had any experience with this - namely being told you can’t wear a bra and what did you end up doing? Thank you
I've seen that some placess will let you have a soft bra (no wires). Otherwise, I have no clue. I can't possibly perform at maximum without something to hold my breasts in place. Male really is the standard in medical testing isn't it.
@@user-fr9wg9ft3p thank you for your thoughtful comment and suggestion. Because the medical facility where I had the procedure would not allow even a soft bra, I felt like I had no choice but to take the medication route to get my heart rate up. Because there are risks associated with that medication, a doctor was present in the room. I laid on a medical exam-like table while the test was conducted. It was okay. I am relieved that I chose that route as after experiencing how rapid my heart rate had to be. There is no way I could have achieved that heart rate on a treadmill without a bra. If I had to do this again, I would choose the medication method again. I did not experience and side effects from it, but everyone is different and reacts differently, so I would caution everyone to choose what they think is best for them.
wish they’d develop a cycling version.....i gave up jogging /running in my early 30s....the soreness from my caves/shin muscles was more painful than the exertion of the actual test...

@Tommy Peterson so far so good! Had essential 2 workouts, one right after another. I almost got to my target heart rate they wanted me at and my legs started getting weak so they had to slow the treadmill down to stop it. Then they had to inject me with the medication that stimulates the heart like you been working out. Uuugh, it was weird having a med making it feel like you are working out. So, they said I had like 2 workouts, essentially. Anyways, I'm all done and outta there. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Thanks for asking 😃
@@soall7494 it's very important! Unfortunately, I got a call right after I left from doing the stress test and was told I have blockage. Wondering what the difference is from grade% to the incline number of a standard gym treadmill… my gyms treadmill goes to a incline of a level 15, which is pretty steep. I’m not sure what the incline % would be. Any additional info would be appreciated!!
The level is not a incline percentage. Incline percentage is based on how steep the area you’re walking, for example a normal walk will equal 100% incline to climb/walk on a wall. Most mountains are at 75-90% incline. Level 15 on the treadmill at planet fitness equals 40-50% incline. Unless a rock climbing specialist went measure the incline, there’s no real way to tell the incline percentage.
On a stress test, the treadmill is calibrated to be the actual incline in degrees. Normal gym treadmills can be all over the place. Most of the more expensive equipment is calibrated to be true to the incline %. @@briannegnubu2346
Incline is defined as rise over run ratio. I.e. if for every meter of horizontal travel you climb 15 centimeters, you get yourself a 15% incline. To convert to degrees you just calculate the arctan of the incline as a fraction. So a 15% incline is arctan(0.15) ≈ 8.5°. You can calculate the incline yourself using basic trigonometry. Just measure the elevation of the front end of the deck over the rear end, the length of the deck itself, and then calculate the incline as elevation / root(length^2 - elevation^2).
I'm in decent shape walk daily and work out at gym daily. But my hip is killing me and my knees are bad enough I can no longer run. I do a treadmill daily at 3.3 MPH and Level 3.5%. i am worried about going up to 4 mpH and 16% due to my arthritis. How do they handle that?
NOT how it works ! I was taken off IMMEDIATELY, with absolutely no slowdown or cooling off, laid down on the bed, and needed help to prevent me from from collapsing. I was gasping deeply, and desperately for a breath, a breath that I thought would be my last one on earth. The video resembles nothing of what I had to endure !
Yes just did mine today. I felt the same way and was scared I would pass out as we believe I have arrhythmia going on from when I had covid. I pray the test picked something up I've been suffering with severe tachycardia and chest pain and dizziness for almost a year it seems. If this doesn't we move on to MRI...
Do you have to hold the hand grip? That's not a normal way people walk. That would hurt my very bad back. Normal stride is swinging the arms at the sides. And no way could I run. I haven't run anywhere in over 20 years. My fastest speed is between 2.5 to 3mph on flat ground.
This is not the whole test, because i didn't see the man get undressed. Did he go to the studio like that? The important difference it makes to me, is that i want to know if they provide footwear that will not break my feet, as the footwear i normally walk in does not enable me to run or even walk too much, with my painfull feet.
I thought i did great but my Cariologist surgeon Guru told me my blood pressure was high at the end. then i saw a Stanford U study suggesting a high reading might mean you're actually MORE fit than most. Sounds hard to believe! although i gave the article to my guy and much to my suprise said "Hmm, interesting" Mine was a nuclear test
I had a mask on , Idk why ? Was it measuring my oxygen? Also, they forgot to take me off my beta blockers prior to the test. They also inclined it every 10 sec and increased the speed. I got to a level 8 and wasn’t out of breath, yet they said I failed, even though I reached my target heart rate. I’m so confused
How do you say stress test in Spanish. I don’t need a literal translation as I actually speak Spanish. I’ve just never heard what it’s known as in the medical community.
Is everyone expected to go for 12 minutes and finish at 4.2 mph @ 12% grade? Regardless of weight or physical conditioning? Or was that just required to get the Doc (who appears to be in good physical condition) up to his ideal bpm? Also, I'm on a beta blocker. Would that lower my expected bpm for the test?
I just had mine today and I am not sure if it goes for every hospital, but you try your best and do what you can do and when you reach that point you can tell them that you need to stop
The doctor gave me medicine instead of having me go on the treadmill, so it's different for everyone. The medicine helped my heart rate go up faster without having to walk.

I have my Adenosine /Lexican Study appointment in 12 hrs from now @10:30 a.m. I'm a bit nervous...not sure if treadmill or the injection is the plan. Not sure how concerned I should be about the fact that I had about a half glass of Iced Tea earlier this afternoon. I totally forgot for a moment but poured the other half out. I'll certainly tell the Doctor or N.P.. I hope that doesn't mean rescheduling.
Why not request for an angiogram instead
The background music is killing the video. They are speaking and we don't know what they're saying.
I wasn't sure if it was music or my heart beat in hearing
Were you stretching ;
They do have one here in my town but because of my age I have to do the treadmill
Same, I've never been a runner but up until my h.a. had been indoor cycling 3 to 4 times a week!
I wish they offered an elliptical exercise machine!! Minimal stress on your joints and easy to achieve target heart rate!😉
They do have a cycling version! I'm going in for one this week. It's the standard where I am. Wish I could do the treadmill instead, I hate cycling.
Do you have to hold the bar the whole time?
I have to have a stress test on Friday, September 25, 2020 and I'm nervous. I haven't been exercising at all or even taking walks. I feel I am going to miserably fail! I hope I surprise myself tho
@Tommy Peterson sure thing! I'm so nervous 😬. I have to be there at 745am today. Wish me luck!
The test, if you are having the one they inject the nuclear medicine with the treadmill, it will show the blockage. I, now have to have an angiogram (heart catheter) to go in and unblock my arteries. He said the one on the side of my heart and the one on the bottom was blocked 😩. So I'm pretty scared now
@@soall7494 they will call me after bit to get me scheduled right after this next week for the heart catheter to put 1 to 2 stints in. I will pray for you 🙏
@Tommy Peterson I got a call as soon as I left from doing the stress test. I have 2 blockages. The artery on the side and the artery on the bottom of the heart is blocked and I'm not getting enough blood flow. So, he is going to get me in ASAP to do a heart catheterization and go in and get a better look and put 1 to 2 stints in. I'm scared! I am 100% relieved and happy they caught it tho before I had a heart attack and maybe have died 😭 but still scared now to do the heart catheter.
Wondering what the difference is from grade% to the incline number of a standard gym treadmill… my gyms treadmill goes to a incline of a level 15, which is pretty steep. I’m not sure what the incline % would be. Any additional info would be appreciated!!
i had this question too. On my home treadmill it correlates directly with the percentage. So my level 15 is actually a 15% incline.
@@Unchainedful is the 16%"GRADE on stress tess different to 16%"INCLINE" on normal gym treadmill
The "MUSIC" caused me to have AFIB and I'm not even on the treadmill?!!?!?!!???!!!

My sternum hurt 2 days later from that treadmill lol.
Ups I going to died on the first stage to me is imposible come to stage 4
I reached the stage 5. Is this normal?
If you think this is hard, try a stress echo. You have to hold your breath immediately after you max out on the treadmill. Great fun.
I have my test tomorrow. There is no way I can do this. I've already had a heart attack. Not pushing it😢
How do you say stress test in Spanish. I don’t need a literal translation as I actually speak Spanish. I’ve just never heard what it’s known as in the medical community.
Why ECG is not shown ?
Is everyone expected to go for 12 minutes and finish at 4.2 mph @ 12% grade? Regardless of weight or physical conditioning? Or was that just required to get the Doc (who appears to be in good physical condition) up to his ideal bpm? Also, I'm on a beta blocker. Would that lower my expected bpm for the test?
Good question.
