Not too bad for high school kids who had homework to do after this set in a small club. That is a custom made ESP 7 string bass made solely for Mihu when he was 17!!!! Hal-Ca is 16 here (started playing at 10) and that is a beat up Yamaha-Pacific she is shredding on, but it is the various influences that set her apart. Poor Mio on drums who is awesome gets to control these 2 beasts and keep them in line on every offering. Independent until recently they have started with vocals (Hal-Ca mostly) but that Prog determination is still there. They did a ton of studio videos for the many fans who helped fund them over the years. I go back to Cream (1966-68) and Clapton, Bruce and Baker will have nothing on these kids when they are through. Lastly, my husband the Hendrix fanatic says she has that same vibe, born to be a rock star and lights up the stage just with her presence.
Some people say that rock is not dead… it just moved to Japan. More outstanding bands from Japan: Lovebites, Nemophila, Band-Maid, Fate gear, Bridear, Unlucky Morpheus, Gacharic spin, Galneryus, Versailles, Whiskey dust, etc.
Thanks for giving these amazing musicians a listen. It's a bass, a seven string bass, thank you very much. He and the drummer are every bit as good musicians as the guitarist as you will see if you choose to explore more by this band. I always feel like I have been through an hour long journey when I listen to this song. Great reaction!
Hi Russ, if they came to Germany I would go to see them right away. My other favourite Japanese rock band is Lovebites ... ok, we can discuss about the singer, but the 4 ladies and their instruments are great ... I described them to a friend as some kind of SlayerPriest 😆 Especially the double lead guitar parts are surely not worse than Tipton/Downing ... what do you think ? 🤘
Another great japanese instrumental band is d_drive and the band soLi and Nakayoshi Metal If you like jazz, check out the band The Jazz Avengers and the song Funkadelic Muse also from Japan
welcome to Asterism 🤘🙌 while this particular song is their most ambitious to date , they simply don't have a bad song. Heads up -- Decide is their first album with vocals (with mixed reviews); everything else is instrumental (which is what the core fans show up for).
Yes, but Hal Ca has a very good voice and I look forward to their vocal songs down the road. They are still quite young and have a long way to go. @@rudolfbecker4313

Such an awesome band - this track was instantly one of my favorites and went straight on my playlist. Have probably listened to it several hundred times in the last year or so.

Congratulations on finding the best new power trio since (in my opinion) Cream. They are from Fukuoka, Japan, and consist of: Haruka Noma, guitars (“HAL-CA”) Miyu Yoshinaka, bass Mio Yoshinaka, drums They started as an all-instrumental band, and have recently begun adding vocals. They were formed in 2014 when Noma was 11 and the brothers were 12 and 14 respectively. They were all playing at a talent fair for young musicians in their hometown, when one of the music scouts noticed them, had a hunch and suggested they play together. Most of their current youtube catalogue is fan-made live video footage, much of it at the Hard Rock Café in Fukuoka. There are also a few clips from their one tour in the U.S., when they played Austin and Los Angeles. From the start, they have written most of their own music, covering a wide range of styles. The brothers bring a lot of jazz and funk ideas into their playing. Miyu plays 4,5 and 7-string basses, which are co-lead instruments in his hands. They are all phenomenal talents, but the big draw has been Noma, known by her first name Haruka or by her stage name Hal-Ca. She has been likened to a reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, with bits of Joe Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt and Akira Takasaki, among others, thrown in. Even in the Japanese scene, with its overload of extraordinarily technical instrumentalists, she stands out. She also writes most of the band’s music. Wonderful country, Japan - lots of things that you will not see (or hear) anywhere else in the world. From the first bass note here, you can tell they know what they're doing. I'm not a huge fan of this sort of aimless shredding but good luck to them.

I feel the same about Lovebites. Great, until the vocals start.
That early main riff sounds like one of the Descent II tracks! :) Nice rockin sound! Awesome skills!

Also recommend Church and Gunfire. Two tracks from their Guernica concept album about the civilian massacre in Guernica, Spain in 1937.
Bassist is also 16 there, drummer 18. Not bad to get a custommade 7 string bass from ibanez at that age.
