    Yes, I also like to repair rather than just use and throw as most people I know do. It's not only the cost in dollars that matters. It's the whole issue of sending reclaimable materials wastefully to the landfill. Thanks for the trouble you take to make these videos and also make them light-hearted, because typically people who come to view fix-it videos like these are a bit negatively mooded just because they have to fix a problem which they do not quite know how to and if they will succeed, on top of being annoyed with the manufacturer that their mattress had sprung a leak, in the first place. And thanks for finding the time to answer your viewers' queries! I hereby 👍and subscribe.

    • @TSGEnt
      @TSGEnt  3 роки тому

      I believe it will certainly stick. I just dragged out that blue mattress (btw, video coming soon so stay tuned) and it is still sticking! I chose to put tape on the inside, because air pushing on the inner patch, that and the outer patch assures the hole is sealed. Give it a whirl. The worst thing that can happen is it might leak a little because of the fuzzies making a way for the air to escape, but then just snip a bigger hole on the outside and try the inner tape method. • @TSGEnt
      @TSGEnt  3 роки тому +3

      I haven't had it split there myself, but in my experience, if you can get a good seal across any of the slit it should work as a patch. The stuff is really sticky and hasn't peeled up at all.You might try making a bigger opening and sealing from both inside and outside like I did here.

  • @61089loki
    @61089loki 3 роки тому

    Do you think this would work without the interior seal? This recently happened to my air mattress, and occurred on a seam in the of the round indents on the fuzzy side of the mattress. Tried duct tape with no avail.

    • @TSGEnt
      @TSGEnt  3 роки тому +1

      My thought is, it's always best to have the air pressure pushing towards the hole (inside) rather than pushing away from the hole (outside). However, the Flex Tape adhesive is very sticky and should hold up even on the"fuzzy" side. Be sure the patch is large enough so it won't develop a channel where air can leak and let it sit overnight uninflated so the adhesive can cure and fully bond the material. Let us know how it goes.

      That is an interesting concept. I'm gonna guess the spray would thicken the surface too much to make it fold up small. Also, it might take an entire can of spray to cover the whole thing. It would be cost-prohibitive for practical purposes. The mattress in the video was under $10 on sale. Maybe a spot treatment on a leak could work. Would make a fun Flex Spray Extreme video though!

    I enjoy your videos. However I tried the Flex tape. Got it from Walmart it was about $13.00. And Warning you don't get much of this tape on a roll.
    It is a bit annoying to try to cut to size with scissors. It's like tacky vinyl. However after trimming it to rounded corners. And placed it over the hole that was in the top of my felt covered air bed.
    We placed it over the pin hole. And placed a heavy book on top. Allowed that to set overnight. The next day we inflated the airbed.
    Guest tried to sleep on it later that night. By the next morning one of them was halfway on the floor. It didn't work.
    So unfortunately the Flex tape is a No for us. I returned the remaining Flex tape back to Walmart for a refund.
    We also tried Gorilla glue to no avail either. So I will continue to try some other things. Because this airbed isn't even a year old.

    Ouch... It's breaks my 💔 to see you purposely creating a hole on your brand new Intex Air mattress.
    After I watched your video I went out buying the flex tape to fix mine but 🤦😭🤷 it didn't hold. I pumped after an hour and straight away it started coming off now the difference is...
    Mine had a hole on the side by the vinyl side and not on top by the velvet material which I'd say maybe on that velvet material wasn't going to hold but it did on yours.
    Another difference is that I didn't put a peace of flex tape on the inside as I didn't want to make the hole bigger.
    I did exactly the way you did on yours besides adding the hole and putting a peace from the inside.

    I agree that you may just want to toss a cheap air mattress but there are cheaper ways (including regular duct tape and hot glue) that may do the same thing. I love flex tape but I certainly don’t think it is a cheap solution to any problem.

    • @TSGEnt
      @TSGEnt  2 роки тому +4

      Flex Tape is still holding! Looks like it'll work no matter where the hole is.

    U should've had an adult sleep on it a couple of nights rather then let it stand to see if it holds up throughout the night lets see if it works then and is it really necessary to put it on the inside because people want to just cover the hole if it's only a slow leak know what I mean.

      A hole in the seam is a nasty one. Use a similar technique. Open that hole a bit to put FlexTape on the inside as well as the outside. Be patient and take your time.
      We've had this fix for a couple years and a bunch of use, and it's still holding!
      FlexTape is available here: www.shootinguy.com/flexseal Here's the first Flex Tape Mattress video: ua-cam.com/video/grdr3HD4_g4/v-deo.html

    This doesn't work. I tried flex tape just now. On a inch hole and it didn't work. Im soooo pissed off i give up all hope. Its impossible to fix a airbed. Impossible.

      And you sealed it from both inside and outside? Hmmm. Well, sometimes you just may need a new air mattress.

    I can guarantee all these videos the mattress leaks eventually with any real weight rolling around on it for a night or 2 of course tape will stop leaks until the pressure finds a way through a channel where the tapes glue fails

      Well, nothing is permanent. Even if you buy a new matress, it's enevitable it will spring a leak somewhere. At least we have methods that can get us through the night.

    You can’t just assume that it wasn’t or isn’t leaking. You need to test it with soap and water.

      Soapy water test is a great approach.

    It didn't take it no time to cure when it stuck to your finger. It was almost as quick as those glue boards that catch mice and spiders and other creepy crawlers.

      It is very sticky. The warnings say not to put on something you may want to remove from later.
