I'm watching this from another air mattress I bought in hopes to find a solution from the previous 2 air mattresses I had. Oh, next time you patch it....Soap and water in a bottle will help you identify if it's leaking right away, whether its a bubble a minute or 8 bubbles a second.
I have a similar style mattress with a small hole in the microfiber top. Do you think the tape would work as well on that surface? Update: I went with several thin layers of Shoe Goo, it worked great.
I've used this tape on a tear that developed on my lawn furniture's fabric cover. Held on so far. Been about a year. So I'm sure it will stick. What I don't know is if the slight fuzziness would create little "pores" between the tape and to allow air to leak. My thought is, try scraping off a small quarter-sized amount of "fuzzy" from around the hole if possible. If scraping doesn't work, try using a little bit of packing tape to gently pull off some of the fuzziness. Then cut the same sized flex tape patch to cover the hole. Then on top of that put down a 2"-3" circular patch to hold the first patch in place and have a better chance of sealing any of the possible "pores". Flex seal is another option. Because its a little bit more liquid, it can find it's way into crevasses to hopefully seal all the fuzzy. Good lick. Let us know!
Fix tape was a fail for me on a Coleman air mattress. I bought the clear tape so it was easy to see why mine failed. The pinholes - 2 of them- are on the seam of the oval divots. The tape is adhered very well to the top, I scraped off as much of the felt as I could. I made the patches large and rounded and started pressing at the center outward. When air was added it looked like it was going to hold. But as soon as I sat on the mattress the holes became rips, tearing along the seam line of the ovals. So the tape didn't stop the hole from getting larger. It was worth a try.
Oh dear sorry to hear that. It's been a few months and a number of times used, and my particular situation has held up well. Perhaps the patch should go well beyond the seams of the ovals. There is a lot of tension on those seams when inflated and it may need the extra patch surface to hold everything together. Good luck with your future experiments with that.
@@queendelegacy09 nope. I gave up. Some folks swear super glue first and then a patch. But I have not tried it. My tiny holes turned into big tears that followed the oval's seam.
@@MoxieMac0 Oh dear. Well, if you should ever want to try another air mattress, amzn.to/31A55Ej We've used the SoundAsleep and it's held up well. That hole wasn't from a seam giving way it was from getting poked somehow. Let us know how it goes.
in a pinch I put tooth paste and toilet paper in a cup and made a paste of it and used it it worked for 2 days, then i tried toilet paper and regular latex house paint and it worked and still holds air too this day . I painted around and over the hole put on a sheet and then painted that then repeated 3 more times .....
I have an air mattress with a slit around the circular design, but it's on the upper side with the fuzzy top. Will Flex Tape work on this type of material on an air mattress?
Flex Tape sticks really well and can work in your situation. If you can scrape away some of the fuzzyness then the flex tape will stick to the vinyl and won't pull off the fuzzyness overtime. Use the back edge of a butter knife to scrape well away from the slit and be sure the patch is big enough to make good contact where you scrapped.
I have had an air mattress for about 10 months and I fixed it with vinyl glue and a patch but I heard a pop last night at then woke up on the floor this morning. I have duct tape patch that is honestly like a 1/4 inch thick and the thing is still leaking I think I’ll try flex tape next or a combination of the glue and vinyl patch plus the flex tape and if that doesn’t work I’ll have to buy a new one.
One of the most common issues is when a patch will begin to lift a little and an air channel develops along a crease and the air sneaks out the small channel. I did a follow up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html This approach soved the problem for me. Hope it works out for you.

Super glue and baking soda make a hard patch they have videos on it don't be afraid to do it if your going to throw it out you might as well try it you tube videos on it just look for them
Terrific idea! I'll have to give that a try. I've used the AC glue and Baking Soda welding on other things, but never thought to use it on the mattress. I guess I should watch more UA-cam!
The sharp corners are very prone to catching on things and begin peeling up. A round patch has no corners and therefore, less prone to snagging and peeling up.
I'm a little new to Flex Tape, so help me out here. I was under the impression that it doesn't stick to anything but itself. It's made of silicone, and doesn't have any adhesive. And so it really needs to be wrapped around things such as pipes, so it can grab itself as it's wrapped.
Flex Tape is a rubberized material that has a strong adhesive on one side. It will stick to anything and it carried a warning to not adhere to anything you may think you would want to remove it from. If you do try to unstick it may destroy the item you have stuck it to.
You are very welcome. It's my pleasure. As for fuzzy air mattresses, here's what I discovered. I'll think you'll be encouraged.ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
It does not work on the fuzzy side. What did work was applying some E6000 glue onto the Flex tape and applying patch, with a weight on top for pressure. The E6000 takes a while to dry, so you may have to give it 24 hrs. or so. Make sure surface is completely dry before doing this.
If anyone decides to buy the old military pneumatic mattresses, they always have holes. Ive used the flexseal spray paint. I give it two coats on all seams and I have yet to have another leak. Because the mattress is green and the spray paint is black, I spray paint the mattress afterward green again.
You are welcome. I did a follow up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html Both approaches for me are still holding, but scenario 2 I believe to be the best approach. Best to you.
Those corner seams would be a bit more of a challenge but I'm fairly confident that Flex Tape can do the job. It will most likely take a different approach than what you saw in this video. I did a follow-up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html It might be a better approach. It's a bit more complex but worth a try. I might be able to recreate it on my mattress and if I can see a way to solve the problem I'll post a video of my solution.
I have, actually I am using flex seal tape right now as we speak to seal a hole in my air mattress.. BUT, it is not working!! It keeps coming unstuck!!??

I think I can't find the hole because I found one, I put a patch on it but it loses air still. Do you think I should try with this flex tape? Is that the problem?
you may have more than one hole, but flex tape did well for me. Here's another video where we did even more extensive repairs with flex tape- ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
I did a follow-up to this with a different scenario. The "fuzzy side". The FlexTape does stretch and adheres really well. Still working to this day! ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
That's a question a few people have asked. I haven't had that issue. If a seam leak develops, you can be sure I'll try FlexTape on it. It's too bad one can't put the patch on the inside of the mattress. the air pushing out on it would certainly help hold it in place, wouldn't it? I'll let you know.
I bought the flex tape and watched your video I did the same thing you did but it didn't work and the flex tape came off I tried again and it still didn't work can you tell me what I did wrong
It's very unusual that the adhesive on flextape would let go. Be sure not to have any solvent or degreaser on the item you are repairing. If you tried it on the "fuzzy" side take a look here and give this a try.: ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
If you mean the seam between the top and bottom, I'd suggest flattening it out at the seam, make the hole bigger. seal from the inside and out. Kinda like this example: ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html Maybe reenforce the ends of the slice with little patches before putting on the top patch to keep the hole from opening further. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Do you have any clue how it happened? I still can't figure out how we got our little hole. We've used the mattress a number of times since this repair and it's still holding! A roll of FlexTape is cheaper than a new mattress that's for sure. Flex Tape - amzn.to/2ugW2sq
What about for larger holes ~half inch? What do you call the “rubber strip” material that mechanics insert into tires and then light it with fire, to fix tires? Did “air-veins” form after a few days?
I did a follow up to this with a "bigger hole" scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html I'm familiar with tire plug strip kits that use rubber cement. I'm not familiar with any kit that uses fire. Plus fire will most likely destroy an air mattress. I didn't experience "air-veins".
I did a follow up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html Not a seam leak, but with some patience, you may be able to get the patch underneath like in the video

Of course your experience and results may be different than mine and I can't guarantee it will work for you. Good luck.
I wonder if a couple coats of flex seal would work on a pool float
I think it's worth a try. Flex Tape is pretty durable stuff and it sticks seals really well. I've used it on a raft, patio furniture cover, air mattress, and PVC plumbing. It's very versatile. I'm pretty sure Flex Seal will work. amzn.to/2X051iD Give it a try and let us know! Good luck.
Verbose. Could have said it all in 5 minutes or less. But does it hold up after several days?
It's been a 3 years and it's still holding. I got nothing more to say.
Accept.... 😉
With the duck tape you have to heat it we used a lighter to quickly seal the patch. We also used gorilla duck tape.
Wow, these are great suggestions. Thank you!
But.. Do you think it will work for the seal on the pump that's where our issues come from
It is worth a try. Depending on the damage, FlexGlue might be the way to go. amzn.to/3uKZZ8K
It worked in this scenario: ua-cam.com/video/Y0rjHOxg6W0/v-deo.html
Remember, some things things have to get worse before they get better. I did a follow up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
@@TSGEnt Thanks
I'm watching this from another air mattress I bought in hopes to find a solution from the previous 2 air mattresses I had.
Oh, next time you patch it....Soap and water in a bottle will help you identify if it's leaking right away, whether its a bubble a minute or 8 bubbles a second.
Great tip. Thanks! BTW, it's been 4months and the patch is still going strong.
Would it stick on the top side?
we tried it on a different mattress. take a look ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
Pro tip put a few good size books on top of it after applying the patch for a few minutes.
Good tip! That's a great idea!
Cut a slightly bigger hole in the mattress and apply it to the inside of the mattress. Should work perfect.
Shave it with a razor first and get all the fuzzys off in the area.
I have a on top of the microfiber, ans the flex tape will not stick. I have to shave and see
Fix tape was a fail for me on a Coleman air mattress.
That's my issue too... Right within the ovals is a 1 inch tear...did u find a way to fix yours?
@@TSGEnt good point on larger patch.... that's exactly what I thought, too. And sadly it didn't work.
Now that's a great idea! Very ingenious approach.
What if the seam down the middle of the air mattress splits? How do u fix that?
Hmmm. May be time for a new air mattress. 😉
Super glue and baking soda they videos on how to fix a air bed u can even use cement & super glue just be careful love these type videos u get to learn stuff
Please can you paste the link to those videos here?
yeah but what about a hole on the top? That isn't smooth plastic. its more like vilor. I had a1/4 inch slice, circular. I will try but I doubt it will work.
I've another video where I address the "velour" fuzzy side. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
Do you recommend the same process if the leak is on the soft/felt side...?
I did a follow up to this with that very same issue. Take a look. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
As an inflatable chair addict, I completely forgot about Flex Tape. Hopefully this will work on my chairs.
We did it again on another mattress. Both still holding up just fine. Good luck with your chairs. If you need some FlexTape you can check it out here: www.shootinguy.com/flexseal
Super glue baking understand the concept of it how it works good patch
I have one just like that but my whole is a cut a big cut and it's on the Velvet it is so difficult I love my bed and I want it back I have tried everything
So sorry to hear. Sometimes, you just gotta get a new one. amzn.to/3ypAG0m
Why do you need to round the corners?
The sharp corners are very prone to catching on things and begin peeling up. A round patch has no corners and therefore, less prone to snagging and peeling up.
I was wondering if that tape would work!
It does and I'm surprised at how long it's held up!
It works on a lot of stuff actually. We used it to patch a spot in our pool liner. It was recommended by our Pool Maintenance Company.
That's double sided silicone self sealing tape. Good stuff but different
The hole in mine is like half the size of a dime. Any remedies for that?
I did a follow up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html Perhaps it will help.
yep taker it out and set fire ti it
Good afternoon, I would like to know , can I used this on flex tape. On the fabric , the hole is on the fabric side.
Hello! Good to hear from you. As a matter of fact, I did a follow-up with the fabric side in mind. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
So we are attempting to repair the cloth-like surface of the mattress. Not sure what to do
We did a video with a repair on the "fuzzy" side. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I've had an issue three times with my bestway air mattress I vacuum before putting my air mattress down I have no idea wat to do about it
Sorry to hear. More Flex Tape?!
That's the same brand I have. Already have a hole in the new one. Ugh
Thanks for the video-do you think it would work if the leak were on the “fuzzy” side of the bed though???
Wow, that sounds like a great approach. we've used FlexSeal Spray on things and it does the job for sure ua-cam.com/video/kZppnIWvVe8/v-deo.html
Thanks so much! I love Flex tape and spray and paste excellent product ! I have to patch my Air Sofa I hope it works..
You are welcome. I did a follow up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html Both approaches for me are still holding, but scenario 2 I believe to be the best approach. Best to you.
I have a puncture in the seam on the corner of my mattress (queen size high bestway) Will flex tape work!? 🤔....🤷🏾♀️A little help here!!!!!!
I'm curious, is this the mattress? amzn.to/34LSqVm Another thing, shoot a video of where the leak is on your mattress and post it on your YT channel so I can have a better look. I might be able to recreate it on my mattress and if I can see a way to solve the problem I'll post a video of my solution.
@@TSGEnt is there a way we can do this via email, I'm actually about to go purchase the flex tape right now!
I have, actually I am using flex seal tape right now as we speak to seal a hole in my air mattress.. BUT, it is not working!! It keeps coming unstuck!!??
What!? Is the material nice and clean and dry? Did you use a bit of alcohol to be sure any oils were gone? Frankly, I'm surprised it's coming unstuck.
Same thing happened to me. Flex tape isn't going to work.
Have you slept on it all night since this video? And did it hold up to this day?
Yes, I have and others have slept on it and it's still holding up. I did a follow-up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html And it too has held up.
What about the tape that is sent with the air mattress? Have you ever tried it and if so, does it work?
That patch just didn't hold up. I tried other patches from other blowup pool things and it's didn't hold up either. I tell ya, FlexTape is the way to go.
It's usually useless
I would say that's a fix great vid 👍
Thanks! We've had continued success this this.
Would the flex tape work on the felt side?
Yup! ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
Have you tried patching holes on the top side with flex tape, sir ?
If by "top side" you mean the fuzzy side, I did a follow up to this with a different scenario. ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
Mine is pop on the sleeping side, will it work on either?
Should. It's worth a try.
I had another hole. I just keep sleeping in the beef and the other hole become bigger that if how I found it
I have cats, I believe they poked a hole in my air mattress. I'm gonna try flex seal. 🤔 Wonder if it will work? If not I'll try this. Thanks.
Best to you. Yep those kitties claws can be a source of leaks. Let us know how it goes.
someone tied your hands with tape: Kalm
It's flex tape: PANIK
You can lift it off if you heat it up with a hair dryer first
Brilliant! I hadn't thought of that.
Thank you Gid Bless You and also, you're Family 😊🍉🌼
You're welcome. Best to you.
What about if you have a pinhole on the top of the mattress where the soft stuff is
SImply carefully scrape away that fuzzy stuff and stick it down. A few folks in this thread have tried to and it seems to hold up.
I have the same problem
What about on the fuzzy side?
We have a video for that! ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html Here's what we did and it's still holding up after lots of use!
Flex tape might work on the smooth side, but it doesn't on the fuzzy side. I'm buying a water bed type repair kit for mine today
You gotta shave it
You might look at #25 and #18 in this playlist. We did it on a fuzzy mattress and you can see the results. ua-cam.com/video/AggFnUirYak/v-deo.html
I filed the fuzz off easily
What if the hole is on the fuzzy side?
I did a follow-up to this with a different scenario. The "fuzzy side". The FlexTape does stretch and adheres really well. Still working to this day! ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
What about a tear within the oval seam?
That's a question a few people have asked. I haven't had that issue. If a seam leak develops, you can be sure I'll try FlexTape on it. It's too bad one can't put the patch on the inside of the mattress. the air pushing out on it would certainly help hold it in place, wouldn't it? I'll let you know.
SimplyBlessed Johnson that’s where it is
I bought the flex tape and watched your video I did the same thing you did but it didn't work and the flex tape came off I tried again and it still didn't work can you tell me what I did wrong
It's very unusual that the adhesive on flextape would let go. Be sure not to have any solvent or degreaser on the item you are repairing. If you tried it on the "fuzzy" side take a look here and give this a try.: ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
thanks going to try it tomorrow God bless 🙏 Thank you

You mean the "fuzzy side"? I took a stab at it here in this video: ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
@@TSGEnt Yes, the fuzzy side. Thanks!
How would you suggest fixing this if it was a slash between the seems?
If you mean the seam between the top and bottom, I'd suggest flattening it out at the seam, make the hole bigger. seal from the inside and out. Kinda like this example: ua-cam.com/video/C7-J4QwIpEw/v-deo.html
Maybe reenforce the ends of the slice with little patches before putting on the top patch to keep the hole from opening further. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

What about for larger holes ~half inch?
What do you call the “rubber strip” material that mechanics insert into tires and then light it with fire, to fix tires?
Did “air-veins” form after a few days?
