1 x 4 wood, Strange thing while driving around a Atwoods farm and ranch store last Saturday. They had some wooden plant racks going into a large dumpster. I asked if I could have them, they said take what you want. Now I have 50 1" x 4"x 8' pine stacked up for recycle. What a find!! Some of it will be used for just what you posted in this video.
Omg the glasses holder is ingenious! I could see even somehow insetting some sturdy magnets to it to attach to my big tool chest. I always have to dig through my drawer to find my favorite safety glasses and I always end up stuck with the scratched up ones. Form and function. These are some great ideas! Right along my wheelhouse, love a good cute bench, table or plant spot. Thanks for the inspo!
The little cover, first thing that came to mind, propane bottle cover. We have several spare bottles for the 2 cooktops and the griddle. Could even staple landscape paper on the inside.
I use leather strips that size to make handles for trays, boxes & drawer pulls when I redo furniture at times. So, leather I've got & thanks to you, I have plenty of cedar & regular fence pickets. 😂 Between my son & I we have about 6 pairs of sunglasses & I have about 3 pair of reading glasses that I sit all over the place. Luckily my safety glasses hang via rings in my garage though. I guess I need to make one for inside the house that has 9 loops. Lol Thanks for another easy & useful build. 😊
Love your videos I'm new to your channel but the motivation this has given me and the amount of things I've seen that I'm doing wrong by God these have changed my mind set and ppl love the ideas I've started with a few ideas and as you've said make it my own and I can't believe the difference
Thank you! I made a box similar to the umbrella stand cover to hide a propane tank on my sister's patio. I did it from fence picket and 1x2 furring strips. It really dressed up her patio!
I seen your video on owls made from 4x4’s. I had some off cuts and made 3 owls, dad mom baby. They turned out great and took less than 30 minutes. Other than the drying time for the clear coat I put on.
This guy knows what he is talking about. I was in the custom cabinet business for 13 years and now it’s a side hustle and a hobby. Good information here for anyone looking to freshen up lost knowledge lol or just getting started.
Love the video as usual. Great projects that is how I look at most of my projects, what do I need to solve a problem for you are a great presenter and very inspirational. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Matthew, I was able to get my subscription to woodworker guild of America. I am excited to try out some of the amazing videos that I am seeing on this site. Cindy
For the little benches you could also turn those into planters fairly easily. Or, cut holes in the bench area for people to put round pots in. Another great video!
thank you so much for your inspiration! My area is saturated with planters so I am looking for other things to build. I love the table design and the benches. The fruit/vegetable basket is a blast to build too! I went out to the shop saturday night and threw together a smaller sized one with the scraps I had left over from both the planter and first basket. I have 3 pallets sitting waiting for de-nailing.
Love that sun glasses and protection glasses on that rusty looking board, wow and the idea of the spent shells casing, great idea 💡 went off in my mind when I saw this, we have a shooting range and spent shells everywhere lying around, I have to make some of these. Thanks again for sharing your idea.😊
I joined Woodworkers guild of America. I will see how this plays out and thank you for discount code. The savings is substantial when compared to regular dues!!
Sorry if this is a silly question. But how are you attaching the center block, with the hole, to the crisscross support on the umbrella cover? Glue? Screws? Dowels? Pocket holes?
Thanks Matt. Im an OG semi retired contractor. Looking to this as part of my retirement survivability. Looking into some 4x4 carve projects and with some scrap flats its either burn barrel or crafts. Not winter yet SO....
You can also market a “side table” of that design as console table as of late or hallway table by just making it a little longer or wider. I am actually using a side/accent table below my wall mounted tv as a console table with small design change
Safety & sunglass holder...that's great! I usually leave mine where someone can sit on them or crush them some other way! I love that sidetable or what I like to call, safety & sunglass holder!! Blessings!!!
I'm starting small. Less cost and time but still make money. Not even a lot of money, just a little extra. More money later after I have more experience. The benches at the end of the video would be nice as smaller versions and made for little plant stands for succulents or the like. The glasses holder is a great idea. I wind up with my safety glasses everywhere except where I need them.
I'm wondering if you could get sales by adapting the picket backed bench into a shoe holder. Put a shelf underneath for your shoes and if the bench part isn't too high, it could be used as a riser to rest a foot up there to tie shoes. If taller, it could be used to sit down to take off/put on shoes.
Mathew. Do you ever use basic design phyllosify of quarters, thirds and halves? I've done a couple projects using these ideas and it seems to make a difference in the flow and look ....
Love it man the glasses holder given me couple ideas live edge board leather and hooks keys and glasses and maybe some bog wood a got laying arround 🤔🤔 👍🏴
So many great ideas Are you guys having any luck selling any of the wood projects? I used to sell a lot of things on Facebook marketplace but it seems like Facebook marketplace in my area has really dried up.
Great video again. Thanks for sharing. But (for me) you were too late with the WWGOA offer. 😀 Another woodworking channel had the same offer, so I arranged my subscription there.
Matt here is another idea besides holding sunglasses you can also add hooks to hold your keys plus if you add a coat hook you can hang your coat each family member gets their own place to hang their items just an idea 👍
Matthew, regarding the glasses holder,I'm thinking a good starting point, depending on length of board used/quality of leather,a good starting point per holder would be around $35-$40 each,no?
Was the first thing I thought as well minus the coat hook since I live in Texas we don't wear them often. Pair it with a hat rack for cowboy hats next to it and it'd probably do good here.
A map Pro tip what I do is I get a piece of galvanized sheet metal and I do some type of design on the front and then I use a little clippy magnets to clip my sunglasses and then magnetism to the galvanized sheet metal you can put them all different ways it's kind of slap them up there and they hang funky and you know what I mean ain't never seen anybody else do it
Hey matthew, I was wondering, you do sales through Etsy which sometimes require shipping, how do you handle that with things larger than 12"x12"x12"? I feel like anything larger than that would be a bear to manage shipping.
Matt is woodworking a profitable hobby how hard is it to get started selling stuff i have basic woodworking knowledge and tools available im starting to make woodworking my hobby but is it actually profitable or easy to find people willing to buy these kinds of things ?
I think my biggest problem with making something and selling it is I think "why would I buy then when I could just make it?" and I know how ridiculous that sounds.
I have a great idea that solves a problem, I could sell worldwide, and it's simple and inexpensive to make. But I can't afford getting a patent on my multi-million dollar idea. (It makes one part of a police officer's job safer and easier). It's not a wood project, but I'm not picky about what I like to build with, lol.
Honestly, I hang my glasses on the same hooks where I hang my keys. They're easier to get on and off than they would be using this project. I'm surprised. This is the first video of yours where I disapprove of the project.
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking ok. Thanks. I thought so but it never hurts to ask these days. Always drop in to check out your content. I have been a woodworker for many decades. Always have awesome ideas. Thanks again
Apparently, you have zero idea how much tools cost. You can buy cheap tools that will get you buy but then replace at a higher cost, but that's stupid. Woodworking is also a good trade and therapy tool. I hate buying things. I love creating what I need . I built furniture for a living now. I do it for fun. There is a difference. Wood is expensive, too. Go price pocket hole screws.
BTW...I consider you the Bob Ross of woodworking. CHEERS.
lol thank you!
Me too!
Happy little pickets lol
If he’s Bob Ross and Diresta is the considered as the The Godfather the woodworking avengers is almost complete .
What would bourbon moth be considered

I’ve been brainstorming a safety glass holder. Your idea is so much better

Magnets! Brilliant mounting method for lightweight items!
Oh yea. Now you’re thinking!
Good morning
Love see you on Sunday, after church makes my day complete
Thank you have a very blessed day
Thank you and you as well.
The little cover, first thing that came to mind, propane bottle cover. We have several spare bottles for the 2 cooktops and the griddle. Could even staple landscape paper on the inside.
Thanks for the Woodworker's Guild hookup! Best buck fifty I've ever spent!
The glasses holder is the most unique thing wood working item I've ever seen. It's simple and really does solve a problem. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I was looking at that saying, "What the heck is that?" 😂😂😂 What a fabulous idea. People really like unique items especially for gift giving.
I love watching these videos with my morning coffee. Gives me great motivation to get my next projects together. Thanks Matt!

Concerning the sofa side table, I'm surprised you didn't see what I saw... 2x4s and fence pickets.... ;)
Lol I like it.
Selling has been the most difficult part of my woodworking journey. I can build like crazy, selling is another story
If you were in AZ, I could sell your stuff for a cut. I can sell rocks to a quarry. 😂
Add the sunglasses holder to the concealed shotgun/Keychain holder!

Dude, I’m not even a wood worker and I really love your videos. Great material, great presentation, great work man.
I appreciate that!
Yet (the little word that means so much)! I'm not either but I have a feeling after watching some of his videos, I'll get there!

A leather strap might be a retired leather belt, which already has some holes punched in it! Great idea, MP!
Cool idea!
Oh yeah, wood, metal, and leather. ❤ now we are in my wheelhouse.
lol get to it!
Sorry if this is a silly question. But how are you attaching the center block, with the hole, to the crisscross support on the umbrella cover? Glue? Screws? Dowels? Pocket holes?
The glasses holder is genius. You could use a thrifted leather belt.
Thanks Matt. Im an OG semi retired contractor. Looking to this as part of my retirement survivability. Looking into some 4x4 carve projects and with some scrap flats its either burn barrel or crafts. Not winter yet SO....
You can do it!

Gonna make that leather thing for my cleat wall with upholstery tacks and canvas. Could hold all kinds of stuff with different size loops.

Yoy could do a combo eyeglass hanger with hooks below to hang your keys too.
Oh yea!
The bench would go nice on my little porch to sit plant on... off to the woodshop.....

Made a glasses holder today, thanks for the idea!
Great video, Matthew. It's given me a few great ideas to have a craft at. 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
Mathew. Do you ever use basic design phyllosify of quarters, thirds and halves? I've done a couple projects using these ideas and it seems to make a difference in the flow and look ....
Is this the first Matthew Peech ad read? At least it's for something worth talking about.
Great ideas and they would be fairly easy to make. It would be fun to watch if you made one of the projects too.
These I just explain. I’ll have more projects to come.
❤ So Cool! Love it (with 'leather' alternative of course).
Matt you keep me inspired and motivated
Thank you 👍
My pleasure!!

Great to see another video thanks😊
Thank you for watching!
Love love love. X
So many great ideas
Are you guys having any luck selling any of the wood projects?
I used to sell a lot of things on Facebook marketplace but it seems like Facebook marketplace in my area has really dried up.
For that 1.88 I had to become a member!
I live in perryton Texas and all there is here is Bartlett's and a picket is $6 there really high with the rest of the wood
I love this content!
Great insights as always! Thank you so much for what you do!
My pleasure!
Thanks for the great ideas and the hook up for the woodworkers guild sign up for it already?
Awesome idea 😊
Thank you!
Awesome video!
Thank you!
I like them all but benches at the end are more in my line of work.
Thanks!
Great stuff as always Matt.. thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video again. Thanks for sharing.
But (for me) you were too late with the WWGOA offer. 😀 Another woodworking channel had the same offer, so I arranged my subscription there.

Make the end table with clear wood and dovetail joints and triple the price.

Profit margin can take it if you aren't precise at your shipping costs. The choice is yours, research!
Lost our dog yesterday. Thinking about a small indoor dog house. Any ideas? TIA
I went to your plan site but couldn't find one for the bench. Is there one?
The ones in this video I just explain, no plans for these.
Cool!
Thanks!
Matt is woodworking a profitable hobby how hard is it to get started selling stuff i have basic woodworking knowledge and tools available im starting to make woodworking my hobby but is it actually profitable or easy to find people willing to buy these kinds of things ?
The benches are basically 12"x 24". How tall? About 36"? What would sell them as? Plant stands? Or just Deacon benches
Plant stands, or decorative benches for dolls, etc. I saw one years ago and loved it, just never had the time! This year for sure!
I'm just trying to find something that sells!
I have so much scrapwood i could make the bench. I like that
Nice!

I have the basic tools, but I lack the space to work.
A guy that hates to buy things is convincing people to make things to sell.
Just because I don't like to buy things doesnt mean others don't.
