I was taking my 9 year old son to his last indoor soccer game of the season and he asked me to play this song for him to pump him up for his game. I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face when he said that
I still remember the first time I heard this song. I was 9, and my brother had recorded the music video at his friend's house because we didn't have MTV. He brought the VHS home, rewinded the tape and played the clip. I couldn't take my eyes off, I didn't know what the hell was going on. My brother then told me that's how high school is like, and it scared the shit out of me
This is where it all started for me (sort of). I grew up as a Christian and didn't listen to anything heavy until I got in high school in the early 90's when Metallica's Black Album and The Offfspring's Smash came out about that same time. These two albums opened my eyes and changed my life. I still maintain my beliefs but this music has helped me through many hard times in life and I thank God they were there to keep me sane through it all.
Don't know if gen X was overlooked. So much good music from so many genres during our generation. Best rock since the 70's, best hip hop ever, event R & B, metal, even pop sh@$ wasn't horrible
GOTTA GET AWAY FROM MEEEEE- greetings from the jersey shore. I’m 27 and have been listening since I was 13. Saw them live a few times in Asbury park. Love and life man
I was at this show and concur, this was a great snapshot of the SLC punk scene in the 90's. I was a skinny high school girl who loved the pit, and anytime I started to fall, there was always somewhere there to catch me. We punched, laughed, made out, pushed each other around, and were tight AF. I loved our little skater/punk scene.
@@flamingcherryc I was there too. Crazy show for sure. The fairpark had some of the best shows in that era. And the salt lake straight edge kids are even in the video which for good or bad is part of the 90s slc scene history. I was 16 at the time. So much fun.
When you lose a song that accompanied you into your adolescence (I was 14 years old when he turns this piece) and finds him after 25 years old, you will be shining the rock 90's sound was essential, purely, fabulous thanks to this single
How much we loved this song, how often we listened to it. I'm listening to it right now as a tribute to you. Spread your wings and fly, finally free from your demons and fears. Rest in peace, Vic 🐧

1994 best year for music Offspring smash rancid and out came the wolves green day dookie Weezer Blue album and nirvana never mind or I am mistaken for that one but never mind
I was 28 when smash came out, married 2 children and cranked the shit out of this while I cleaned house, there will never be another time in my life where i will hear the 1st zep song, or sabbath, or AIC,soundgarden MEGADETH & METALLICA, Skynyrd etc etc etc.. music today no longer stirs up RAW EMOTION like the music from late 60's to mid 90's! Its no wonder and teenager of today THAT HAS ANY TASTE always goes back to 1969-1994?
Smash was the 2nd album I ever owned... it was: Smashing Pumpkins : Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness And The Offspring - Smash. First two albums I ever owned. My parents had Nevermind, Dookie, In Utero, Siamese Dream, Ten, VS, Etc... so early 90’s was where it all started for me getting into music.
Those were both in the first 4 or 5 cds I ever owned. Also had tool’s undertow in there and NIN’s the downward spiral. They were my favorite bands. When I first started to form my taste in music as an 12 or 13 year old. Tool is still my favorite to this day.
Jamming out in 2020. Hard to believe this song rocked the radio waves 26 years ago. I was in 9th grade and all the students would jam out to this album leaving school...

Paranoid of people and it's starting to show
One guy that I can't shake
Over my shoulder is a big mistake
[Chorus]
Sitting on the bed and I'm lying wide awake
There's demons in my head and it's more than I can take
I think I'm on a roll, but I think it's kind of weak
Saying all I know is "I gotta get away from me"
[Verse 2]
Tell you, something just ain't right
My head is on loose but my shoes are tight
Avoidin' my friends, they all bug
Life is like a riddle and I'm really stumped
If you reason, don't you know
Your own preoccupation is where you'll go
Being followed, look around
It's only my shadow creeping on the ground
[Chorus]
Sitting on the bed and I'm lying wide awake
There's demons in my head and it's more than I can take
I think I'm on a roll, but I think it's kind of weak
Saying all I know is "I gotta get away from me"
[Post-Chorus]
I gotta get away from me
I gotta get away from me
[Bridge]
Woah-oh-oh, woah-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh, woah-oh-oh
[Chorus]
Sitting on the bed and I'm lying wide awake
There's demons in my head and it's more than I can take
I think I'm on a roll, but I think it's kind of weak
Saying all I know is "I gotta get away from me"
[Post-Chorus]
I gotta get away from me
I gotta get away from me
I gotta get away from me

The most underrated offspring song ever
Agreed. Hard to pick their best song, but this one just might be it
Released 29 years ago. Let that sink in.
Dude, what are you on? The 90s were like ten years ago. End of discussion and no more questions! Thank you.
@@krasikara Denial can be a blissful thing. I know it's hard to believe, but the math is the math: 29 years between 2024 and 1995.
42 years old and this shit still get me hyped
That's really good. Amazing 90s grunge vibe
These guys put my feelings into words
Thank you, Offspring for this song! I needed it when I was 14, not knowing any better. And now at 43 knowing why I needed it
I was taking my 9 year old son to his last indoor soccer game of the season and he asked me to play this song for him to pump him up for his game. I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face when he said that
I'm 61 yrs old and I love it
I still remember the first time I heard this song. I was 9, and my brother had recorded the music video at his friend's house because we didn't have MTV. He brought the VHS home, rewinded the tape and played the clip. I couldn't take my eyes off, I didn't know what the hell was going on. My brother then told me that's how high school is like, and it scared the shit out of me
Omg adorable lol
The sound The Offspring gives us will never get old! They really are AWESOME!!
One of The Offspring's most underrated songs. It's one of my personal favourites on the Smash album.
This is soo 90’s, at it’s very best!!! The video, the sound, the vibe… everything!!! Takes me back :)
I was 19 when this came out - right in the middle of Gen X, the best but most overlooked generation.
15 here... Damn I feel old 😂
Don't know if gen X was overlooked. So much good music from so many genres during our generation. Best rock since the 70's, best hip hop ever, event R & B, metal, even pop sh@$ wasn't horrible
Pfffff hajahajaHhaha
Born in '79 at the tail end of Gen X, but we're known as the "whatever" generation lol. Wouldn't have it any other way.
1991-95. 4 year period that will NEVER be touched in terms of everything cool, exciting, real.
Before or after
Before and after Nirvana
@@okirrama3587 Nirvana died with Kurt, does it means that The Offspring will die with Dexter?
Best 4yrs of my life right there🤘👍😎
Big hug for you all guys. Long live the 90's
Jason Peter's High school years?
GOTTA GET AWAY FROM MEEEEE- greetings from the jersey shore. I’m 27 and have been listening since I was 13. Saw them live a few times in Asbury park. Love and life man
Probably the best video ever to show what it is to be on the mosh pit,the energy, the intensity, the friendship, the happiness
God bless my parents for never giving me crap about listening hard for 90`s music. I love them!
One of the BEST times in music (aside from maybe the late 60's - early 70's). Some brilliant minds came outta the 90's! My generation of Gen X'ers! 😸
fuck yahh still bumping in 2017
2021 still a hit
One off the greatest songs youll hear everyday on regular rock / alternative radio today.
When you lose a song that accompanied you into your adolescence (I was 14 years old when he turns this piece) and finds him after 25 years old, you will be shining the rock 90's sound was essential, purely, fabulous thanks to this single
Same thing happened to me lately with King For a Day, FNM
How much we loved this song, how often we listened to it. I'm listening to it right now as a tribute to you. Spread your wings and fly, finally free from your demons and fears. Rest in peace, Vic 🐧
Holly cow, this is THE 90´S SONG❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is their best song
I’m 47 and Offspring was so present in my life in the end of my teenage
Now I’m 48 🎂🥳
Headset, a beer and Offspring. Fore ever and ever and ever....
You will recognize Dexter's voice out of millions! I love it!
46 been around band members in the 90s you grew up in this scene, 16 years old and already have a 1000 fans from play grunge songs with your friends. These were the years.
And today's generation consider this oldies now. I would always skate to offspring and other bands when I was younger back in the mid 90s. Offspring forever 😎🤟🏻
Punk's not Dead
True …this one of the masterpiece of music industry …punk …always …
90s❤
I love songs were each instrument comes in in sequence. Especially this one!
I Love Offspring 4ever
One of the GREATEST BANDS EVER!!!!
Still one of the best songs ever... Back to the 90ies..till now
Best song by the Offspring IMO. Still hard to top that chorus 20+ years later
Dirty Magic then this are my favorite Offspring tracks.
One of the best live performances I have ever seen
This song is nearly 30 years old and it still slaps
I miss those years
Excellent song from this band
BEST GODDAMN MOSH SONG EVER.....bring tears to my eyes and bumps to my skin.....take me back there.....WHEN I WAS TRULY ALIVE
Man I really miss the grunge/punk/alt rock of the 90’s. Didn’t know how good I had it as a teenager back then. 43 now and wish my kids could experience life back then like me…well most of it haha
Отличная песня, не устарела за 25 лет. Клип простенький, но тоже качает. Мрачновато и драйвово🤘💥
Pretty funny how a lot of parents are here talking about stuff from a long time ago while there are a lot of kids down here (me included) that are prob gonna love like this lol
My parents were in their early twenties during the 90s and fkn hated the offspring
I love them tho 😂
The pits were real in the 90s
U have good taste in music
Same I’m this person’s daughter and I love offspring
Lol I’m 14
Good music never dies
WOW this album came out the year me and my wife got married 30 years ago 1994 I bought this album on cassette before CDs even were out yet blow's my mind where does the time go still the best band out of the grunge era and very underrated
immortal music !!! its just my opinion!
I fucking love Offspring 😻😻✌✌✌✌

brunonow1988 ok
1994, i was 16 :) Great times!
+Pedro Hugo Horta This was the first cassette I had to listen to
I was 5 lol and i love all the band's from 60s to the 90s
I was one lol
12 and listened in the back of my folks' Volvo on my gigantic boom box lol.
1994 best year for music Offspring smash rancid and out came the wolves green day dookie Weezer Blue album and nirvana never mind or I am mistaken for that one but never mind
Offspring definiu o punk dos anos 90. Self steam e gotta get away são clássicos absolutos !!
I first heard this song when I moved to Canada in the 90s, what a song to introduce to a new immigrant kid 💪.
I'm a teenager who have the same taste... The Offspring, Nirvana, AiC, Evanesence,Paramore...
NMJ got damn ur in your late 50s by now
@@412hwc YES I AM! I look good too!
▶️🙋♂️
Gen X all the way!
Smash was the 2nd album I ever owned... it was:
Smashing Pumpkins : Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
And The Offspring - Smash. First two albums I ever owned.
My parents had Nevermind, Dookie, In Utero, Siamese Dream, Ten, VS, Etc... so early 90’s was where it all started for me getting into music.
You sir, have a great taste in music! :)
Those were both in the first 4 or 5 cds I ever owned. Also had tool’s undertow in there and NIN’s the downward spiral. They were my favorite bands. When I first started to form my taste in music as an 12 or 13 year old. Tool is still my favorite to this day.
Remember listening to this album on repeat lying in my room as a teenager. Still has the same impact as it did 15 years ago.
Been 25 years now u finally leave that room?
Jamming out in 2020. Hard to believe this song rocked the radio waves 26 years ago. I was in 9th grade and all the students would jam out to this album leaving school...
29 and still rocking out to this. The Offspring was prevalent when I was a kid
Smash is the best album!
