Was at Offspring's Smash concert tour in a tiny venue in Columbia, MO in 1996. Dex opened the show with this song. When he started playing these first few chords, I've never seen a crowd go so crazy for three notes in my entire life. Fucking awesome.
_I always loved their music -- on its own making -- without regard whatsoever to any_ category. _This is an important distinction to make, philosophically, because to categorize is not the same as appreciating_
My young teenaged kids, a friend of theirs, and I were driving up from southern California several years ago on a weekend camping and rock-collecting trip. The famous line in "Bad Habit" was our trip's theme song! Every time we were struck behind an idiot driver, we'd crank this up as we passed them. Epic song!
( ͡ʘ╭͜ʖ╮͡ʘ) Offspring is punk rock.. back in the 90s me and my friends were listening to punk rock like Offspring, No use for name, NOFX, Pennywise, Lag wagon, Green day, Bad religion. Guttermouth, Mxpx, Rancid

When someone evolves around listening to a particular album and then makes major changes in the world many of those that subsequently hear that album will not be able to explain why (as a matter of survival) they may get a sharp response when hearing the sounds of that album... Great album!
I bought this album, not even knowing one of their songs blew up on MTV. I had all the punk CDs on Epitaph. This song and album was one of my all-time jams driving around with my crew all over the 90s :) So tight.
One of my favorite albums ever. I have noticed covers are popular on UA-cam and I noticed that unfortunately not many singers perform covers of The Offspring. I think this whole album would make amazing covers.
I blast this song since it came out, forgot about it now i blast it while driving and screaming the lyrics... Nobody dare to make eye contact with me while it's blasting... hilarious!!! Also keeps me from falling asleep!!! Offspring rocks!!!
Smash was released when I was 10 years old, it lived in my portable CD player (LOL!!! @ that) for probably a year straight. I can't tell you how much of my allowance money was spent feeding that walkman with the small mountain of AA batteries this album consumed that year haha. How the times have changed!
@@frankielove31 I was in high school (Grade 12) when this was released, I didn't start getting into it until about 6-7 years after that. Still some really great stuff!

This si the original "Move bitch get out the way!" listened to this everyday on my way to work from 16-23. Played it over loud speakers while patrolling in iraq. I also let some young kids at work listen to this and they asked what new band did this. killed me a little inside. Iraq knows this jam now, makes my black heart smile a bit.
Some things never change..... Just the soundtracks. Putting on shirt and tie for church listening to "Highway to Hell" on Sunday mornings.... Or if I was feeling just a little bit mellow, Alice Cooper "Teenage Lament". Still had to go to church though.... Probably before you were born, but again, some things will never change. Can laugh about it now, and so can they. This is a great album.
I drive Lyft and Uber, and usually I don't play music in case it might offend my passenger. But one night, my passenger who was a woman in her 50s insisted I play music. I asked her what song I should play, and she said she didn't care as she likes all music. Just to get going I decided to open the YT Music app and play whatever song it had recommended for me next. And this is what it came up with. Yeah.

You summed them up perfectly 👌

Thrash ??? I'd say more tinge of crust maybe, punk/grunge influence yes, like the clash meets the exploited meets nirvana
Agreed
