Blackfoot was originally formed in 1970’s by Rickey Medlocke, current lead guitarist of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Blackfoot has always been defined by their hard rock edge, evident on their most successful singles “Train, Train” and “Highway Song.” In 2012, Medlocke recruited a completely new line-up of the band to continue the music of Blackfoot for new generations. Blackfoot will be touring all summer, check www.blackfootband.com for info.
I'm 56 years old . Good to see Black foot still strikes I love the song .
This is the rockinest tune I’ve heard in a long time! Coming from a guy who saw Skynyrd with Ronnie twice…Southern Rock RULES!!
The new black foot and the old black foot it's still good music Cherokee native ❤❤❤
As a half breed and a Missouri boy at 59 years old I dig this shit
This is the baddest sound you can ask for in Southern Rock Baby🎉✌️
I am a born Yankee not by choice from CT and am playing this at my funeral Blackfoot, Southern Native, No Lie AJ
Don’t do that dude. This song sucks.
rickey medlocke is one of my favorite rock guitarist
Kick-Ass southern rock and roll guitar performer and a general awesome you and man God bless him
Love Rickey Metlocke! His talent is amazing. I watch him with Skynyrd mainly because that is my favorite of all bands, but have seen Blackfoot a couple of times too.
I saw the original Skynyrd at an outdoor festival at Nashville Speedway in 1976. As a young kid that experience was a real eye opener… 😂 Much has obviously changed since then but the important thing is to keep the rebellious nature and spirit of the music alive! These young musicians are some very talented players and many thanks to Rickey Medlocke as always. This shit cooks‼️ 🔥 💥 👍
1976, was not the original Skynyrd
@@captaindeluxe7328 - Yup your historically accurate. The line up in 1976 sure as hell was the classic incarnation of Skynyrd though and unarguably the best version of the band.
just fine rock n'roll song, nothing more nothing less, we need more of that today
Yes I dig it I am southern born and native from the Cherokee eastern and Oklahoma be posting what Ricky and lynyrd does lived on the west coast for 40 years have my tribe
this is just what i needed new blackfoot i feel alive again. rickeys little wife sure can sing. a hole lotta soul.
I have literally listened to this song over and over everyday work weeks now after discovering , BaD Bad ass song !!!!! Steve from TN
Back in the day they had a big following in the uk after a blistering show at Donnington when acdc headlined on the back in black tour in 81, fabulous can still remember the power that those guys put out, listening to the radio on the way home all they was talking about was how good blackfoot was, if these guys are still playing the music thats cool by me brother.
Saw BLACKFOOT Twice in Knoxville,Tenn,EXCELLENT CONCERT!!!!!!!!
I remember Blackfoot in the late 70's from the NJ scene. Absolutely loved their music. I remember them at some of the universities and clubs in the area. Playing with bands such as the Good Rats, Zappa and some other notables. Ricky Medlocke is one of those guys that that stayed true and humble. The passion and true love of hard driving music has made him an icon as far as I'm concerned. My cousin met him at cafe in Ft. Myers a few weeks back and was impressed with his personable demeanor and likeability. Exactly what I always thought of the man. This song absolutely nails it! Ah, the nostalgia this song evokes.... listened to every blackfoot album I have, still have their music on vinyl, yes, I'm that old!
You keep rocking Jack! 👍
Been a Blackfoot fan longer than many of y'all have been alive, and, if you do not like this song, or think it not fully within The Blackfoot Tradition, then you are out of your mind.
Excellent transmission of the tradition, right here.
Y'all can take to the bank, from this Southern Belle!
Don't disagree-great song with a blistering solo but it shouldn't be packaged as Blackfoot, even if RM is in for the last minute.
Did he say street meat justice?
Yes, well spoken my friend.
I first head BF here in Melbohrne Oz, with the Siogo Album talk about utter foot punching kick ass heavy rock! The late Jackson Spires is very impressive on the album. Tighter than Phil Rudd, with more skills.
@@lacyjoyce In 2023 this is Blackfoot, Dear Lacy. The 1980 Blackfoot is dead and gone, except in our hearts and minds.
I'm glad oneof the boyz aunts really appreciates the opportunity they have been given....
Love, Love, Love it!!! So glad to see Blackfoot back. I love the imagery. Much respect from a Poarch Creek Southern Native. Ya'll rock harder than ever. Peace!
This isn't Blackfoot....lol
My band open up for this version of Blackfoot a couple of years ago and these guys are freaking cool and genuinely very nice guys that were hand picked by Ricky himself to continue and carry on the Blackfoot name. Ricky himself I believe either writes the new music and these guys perform it or has a hand in writing the new music for Blackfoot either way Ricky himself fully endorses this newer version so if its good enough for Ricky then ...
That means thatz family
And IAM in full suppQrt
🙃🙃🙃💞💞💞
A very g(Bl)00d Idea father Rick, Blackfoot for more a Century . Transmission Accomplissed
Awesome
I was lucky enough to see Rickey Medlock and blackfoot in their prime back in 1980. One of the best concerts i,ve ever seen. The music was loud and rockin' with the strong smell of weed in the air.Sexy women dancing to his music. What more could a
kid of 15 years old ask for.
I'm digging that Riff and the tone...
Glad to see this happen, the whole album kicks ass. I didn't think much of the idea but was impressed when I heard it.
Down in the swamps of Florida is where I feel right at home
Hangin' with my Seminole brothers we where trying to roll the bones
Drove all night in the pouring rain just to make a dime
Headed on up to New Orleans selling prayers and shine
Got my laid back living and rainy nights
My sweet street justice shining on my life
I'm a southern native born and bred when I die by God I'll be southern dead
I got a suitcase full of pictures
Reflections of my youth
Music is my saving grace
My guitar just told the truth
Daddy was a Native American man, momma was a southern belle
Memphis blues and old tattoos things I know so well
Like that laid back living and rainy nights
My sweet street justice shining on my life
I'm a southern native born and bred when I die by God I'll be southern dead
We're all celebrated
We're southern to the bone
Texas to Carolina I'll take 95 back home
I see the light of the Georgia moon telling me where to go
Hear the call of the voodoo child, politician money man
Leave alone our sacred land
And laid back living and rainy nights
My sweet street justice shining on my life
I'm a southern native born and bred
Southern native born and bred
I'm a southern native born and bred when I die by God I'll be southern dead
Southern native born and bred southern native born and bred
In 1980 saw Blackfoot open for Nazareth here in Detroit. It was my first concert at Cobo Arena we were so screwed up. LOL
Wow great bill!
@@_fabio1978 smoked hash all night. 😂
I saw Nazareth (later). I can't remember who else was there - the gooney birds were flying that night ;-). I do remember... when it was all over with, this chick kept trying to get me to go home with her. I told her over and over that I couldn't, because my girlfriend would be pissed. Then I kind of remember hitchhiking 80 miles home with some cartoon-looking guy, oozing through the front door - and my girlfriend giving me all kinds of grief because I kept running away from her when she was trying to corral me into her car after the show. Sins of a misspent youth. . . .
@@wesgregg6451 LOL Nazareth put on a great show
This is a great song!
FKN GREAT SONG!
Man That song is me from Tennessee , saw Blackfoot in the 80's and Even 90's huge van was there for the ride and riding even stronger today , thanks to you all!!!! Hope to see you live soon, still got my 90's Medicine man t-shirt I got at a Cadillacs show in North Carolina , saw at freedom hall in Jc Tennessee and the paramount in Bristol , TN hell yeah I been there !!!
You guys are badass, and the girl singing back up, keep kicking ass! Cherokee nation, stay proud my brothers !
The lady your talking about I believe is his mother.
she is rickey medlockes wife
Correct. Stacey Michelle Plunk.@@pamela-to6pu
Everyone is in this video is a fantastic musician, and the lead guitar player left me speechless with his seemingly effortless, rippling guitar solos: mind blowing guitar playing!
I really like this sound. Actually its great!
Not bad , what a wonderful life to be involved in so many cool projects.
I still have a brass guitar pick with R.M. on it. I played in a band that opened for Blackfoot in the mid 1990's. He was a very cool guy.
I always wanted one of those brass picks!!
Saw them in 82 If I remember correctly,The Outlaws and Molly Hatchet... What a show Dude! At 16 I was blown away, Birmingham was lit!
Rickey's gramps Shorty was a dobro player who strummed along the delta blues/twang/bluegrass on his front porch in the 50/60s and is mentioned in several southern rock songs from 70's mega groups. He influenced a ton of musicians. And sure influenced Rickey
1980 High School graduate and I still get all tingly and stuff vibing to the Blackfoot, thank you.
82 grad from Sterling hrs, Mi. Me too
81 grad here.
This song kicks ass.
What- think we're ready to shuffle off to a recliner?
Hell no.
'76 Hell No!
I like it . Rock on . I was looking for Rick medlocks Blackfoot and chanced upon this . Great music .
I seen ricky about 5 times it was awesome 😎😎 👍👍
Far cry from what I heard growing up and hanging out and taking lessons at the Music Box.......in the 70s
Damn this kicks ass ! My kind music from my Southern raising, Southern style
Would never have thought this was Blackfoot in a million years.
Because it's not, the members of Blackfoot, would be in their 70s now, a picture of Ricky Medlocke doesn't make them, the group Blackfoot, just as if the children of the Beatles performing together would make them the Beatles
It's not, but they do sound good and you have to call it something.
I'm not sure how the name got turned over but Ricky doesn't seem to have a problem with it so I sure don't 😅 they ROCK!
Wow, this song knocked some dust off of my shoulders.
Love the lyrics, just moved to SC, I'm Southern born and bred and when I die, by God, I'll be Southern then.
It's a new generation...Rock on...love it...!!!!
You got that right, one kick ass song awesome band!!!! You Rock
Being a big fan of the original Blackfoot I was hesitant to listen to any of the new bands material. Today was my first listen of the new version and I must say I approve !
The more I listen to this I love it
What exactly is southern dead? Does it have anything to do with Ricky passing on some of that so called sacred knowledge in that opening bit?🤔 I don’t think they were listening or it wasn’t all that good to begin with. The closing of this song is cheap with the back ups screaming Suthern Native. Whatevs.😒
Love that Blackfoot is still around, great seeing Rickey, loved watching him New Years with Skynyrd. Siogo to me is an all time classic.
we saw Blackfoot in the battle of the bands in Nashville, Tennessee 1980, they blew Molly Hatchet off the stage and all others, years later we became friends with Rickey, on the After the Rein tour 1994-95, called us to go out and eat in downtown Nashville, I remember that night my friend gave him a Platinum LP of his famous mother country singer to hang on his wall in Fort Myers, Fla.
Ricky is very nice down to earth, we talked about the old Lynyrd Skynyrd days, and why he was eating so fast that night, he said back then if you didn't, someone would steal your food right in front of your eyes.
Remember he drove off in a van with a U haul hooked up, to our surprise' he would join Lynyrd Skynyrd the next year.
What a billing that must have been! Blackfoot and Molly hatchet? Damn....
@jackbailey7394 yea it was, my friends mother was the late Patsy Cline, he gave Rickey the 6 million sales of Patsy's 1994 greatest hits Platinum LP, and his dad had it made with Rickey's name on it. It only cost $250 to have it made. Rickey said as a kid, his mother would sing Patsy's songs in the kitchen while washing dishes.
@@jameslomenzo1139 Patsy Cline was what I grew up listening to, My parents were big fans and also a lot of Elvis. Patsy was a true pioneer. I still listen to her today. thanks for that awesome story, I learned something new!
@jackbailey7394 that's awesome, glad to share it with you, I grew up with Patsy's family and met her mother Virginia Hensley, brother John, and sister Sylvia in Winchester Virginia. They were some of the nicest people you could ever meet. I could tell you alot of great stories about me and Patsy's son Randy growing up together in Nashville, TN since we were 12 years old, he taught me alot about music, he's very smart.
Ok. I'm not trying to be a fan boy or anything but Holly sh-t. James some of your music from the 80s and 90s is to this day still getting put in my CD player before most others.
Loved you in WL but your time with Pride n Glory is definitely one of my top 3 line ups of all time. Saw you guys live too. Your playing fit so well with that line up and those songs.
I might be friends with John but man did I love any time you came back to jam with Zakk.
Many props to you sir.
This is utter heart felt truth.
I didn’t get a damn bit of truth outta this. Just sayin.
Loved when Rick came in!
These guys don't know what Southern Rock is Bless their Hearts
Nice to see that rock and roll is still around.
Mmmhmmm if you say so.
Had the privlege, after sneaking back stage back in the day at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom. And meeting Mr Medlocke, Blackfoot opening for Journey. Super cool cat!!! Got an autoghaph and a Thanks for the support! Love Blackfoot!
Love this badass song. 'My guitar just told the truth' - great line.
Great song in the tradition of this band!
Awesome cool jam yeah 🤘😆🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸🎸
Love it and Subscribed🙌🪶✌️💞
Sounds good! 😊
Beside the question is this Blackfoot or not it's a nice song, with brilliant drumgroove
Blackfoot..they are of the Titans of the old southern rock lore..it does my heart good and my ears also to see the next gen proudly pick up the torch and run with talent and pride..Bless you all..
HELL YEAH! Love this song!! Great video
Super cool 😎. I love Blackfoot. This new lineup is what the doctor ordered. Thank you Ricky 💯🔥🖖🇱🇷
This album was passing the torch on to a new lineup. It’s actually a very good album.
Beautiful!
Hell yeah!!! You guys are awesome!!!! Congratulations on the video!!! Great job!!!
Had a drink with Ricky and Greg one night at the Isabella hotel in Neu Isenburg. 82, they had opened for the Scorpions.
awesome band.
It's always gonna be divisive, bro, dude, man, mate. I was privileged to see Blackfoot in the Metropolis of Hull, England in early 80's. and they blew my legwarmers off. This is good rock an roll on its own merit. Don't compare the two. Just enjoy and appreciate what's left because that's right.. Love to all Understandees.X.
fucking love this band!
After meeting Tim Rossi Here I had to give them a listen! They at least deserve that! I knew that it's hard to swallow the Name being used again..... These Guy's Rock Hard!!! and Play well !!!
Saw you guys in 1981 in El Paso. Def Leppard was the opening act
This song starts ripping at min.4, unreal.
Brilliant 👍
Sounds good 👍✌️
