Klingberg was a -3 tonight. Not even his worst, which says a lot for his year.
Reaves was a -1 despite playing the least amount of minutes of any Leaf this game. Seems Keefe only plays him early and if the Leafs have no hope of a comeback, the last minutes of the game. Says a lot for his impact.
Woll's worst game for sure, yet was still better than Samanov in all but one of his games. Again says a lot.

“Thinking of next year’s postseason and not this year’s postseason” is a good one. Wait until Willy gets his ten and then we have Marner coming up. Could we be closing in on 4 players occupying 3/4 of the salary cap? Only consolation might be Tavares’s contract expiring… I typically ignore the Leafs until postseason (assuming they get there) As those are the games that matter.

For the money they signed him for if they wanted a puck mover who was irresponsible in there own end but a good puck mover, they should have resigned Erik Gustafsson and brought back Luke Schenn for rhe money we signed Klingberg for lol. Now we have our new scapegoat for the season to blame things on if this season ends up being bad. Basically the new Jake Gardiner, Tyson Barrie and Justin Holl

They traded for him in the Sandin deal. He had a really good showing in Washington and signed for 825 K with the Rangers. That's fine even if Keefe didn't want to play him because of his defensive flaws and saw him as 7th d, however based on how Klingberg plays and how things are unfolding for him now he is slowly turning into Gustafsson and im saying for 3 m less they could have brought back Schenn and kept a player similar like Klingberg in Gustafsson. So stupid it was the worst move of the offseason. Letting Acciari & Schenn go

It's not just that the defense has been bad, but just how it's happening. Over the last few years our defensive corp has never been that good on paper (we had Justin Holl on our second pair for a good few years; pretty sure most Leafs fans would prefer that to Klingberg) but we nonetheless were a top 10 defensive team twice in recent years, in 2020-21 and last year (heck, we were tied for 5th in GA last year). And it's not like we had Vezina calibre goalies either. Last year, we even had a stretch where we were dealing with several injuries to the backline and still looked way better than we have at any point this season. There, we seemed to have an actual defensive system, we had forwards playing (relatively) responsibly in the defensive end. Now, I have seen so many instances where 3 guys go after 1 behind the net and we have no one covering the high slot. What happened?

His puck lucks been zero but that will turn around as the season progresses. He should still be good for 15. The effort is always there just like Tavares. You know what your getting when they roll over the boards, 100% effort all the time.

That second goal. After Klingberg falls down, 4 leafs to the front of the crease just spinning around with their eyes closed and Marner just doing a slow lap around them. How is it possible to be an NHL defenseman and not even be able to skate backwards? "Puck moving defenseman" implies he can play defense. There are hundreds of forwards you could put in that slot that would be better defensively and get more points. And they would cost half the money.
