Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer-Silver and Gold was sung by Burl Ives as an animated snowman during the classic Christmas movie. I am 43 years old and I still watch it every year, even if my son does not want to. It brings back all the magic of Christmas for me as a young girl😊
Fun trip! Leah, you can store large flat trays under your mattress or in your car trunk with the spare tire😂or slid behind a dresser or in a dresser drawer with clothes on top. A big punch bowl can be stored in the back of a cabinet and filled with small things you dont use often or at the top of a clothes closet filled with hair things or scarves or out of season socks or rolled up belts etc etc. Or set upside down and used as a plant stand Or on top of the fridge to store rolled up dish cloths and kitchen towels and scubbies. Or depending on the cost just used once or twice and redonated.
When you don’t have storage space for serveware after the party, donate it back to the thrift store and consider the price you paid rent. It’s a win-win!
The silver and gold song was sung by Burl Ives in the animated "Rudolph" movie. I am in my 60's and have been watching this movie every year of my life. It reminds me of my childhood!!
Rudolph of course. Silver and gold. Silver and gold. Burl Ives. My favorite Christmas show. I have a collection of characters from the show. I wish I was there shopping with you! Your Indiana friend.
What a fun adventure to the Goodwill store especially running into John what a great project he’s doing for women out of prison. Excited for Wednesday to see who keeps what.
Always love a thrifting video, with Linda, Leah and Stewart debating what should go into the cart and this time Stewart scored a fun surprise! Thank you to John for providing your services to help those in need. Can't wait to see your holiday decor.
There is an old girl scout song that talks friendship.. Make new friends but keep the old.... One is SILVER AND THE OTHER GOLD ! I was a girl scout leader for many years in the 80's The only thing I remember about silver and gold!
Just love the interactions between the three of you and how you are like children in surprise mode when you find your little treasures and surprises . What a fun segment and helping out with saving our planet by finding new ways to use items while others benefit from those sales . You are each so individual but so alike also. Friendships are a blessing . Have a wonderful magical and enjoyable New year celebration .
Silver and gold 🎼🎹 this song by Burl Ives is in the Christmas animated tv show Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer- my kids loved watching it every year at Christmas!! Loved your video- so interesting and inspiring! Merry Christmas Linda, Stewart, and Lea! Love you guys!❤😊
I have a neighbor who does that bc we are all condo dwellers in FL. She goes to the thrift shops uses things like serving pieces and then donates them back .
I always it would be fun to have a lot of wall clocks hanging up for New Year's Eve, set an hour apart. Those could be thrifted. Also thought it would be fun to have your guest bring little alarm clocks, and set them all for Midnight. Then they would all be going off at Midnight. Of cousre now everyone has an alarm on their phones. Have a Wonderful 2024!🎉
YAY!!!!!.....John!!!!......I have watched the videos on his garden and his home MULTIPLE times....and will continue going back for inspiration.....LOVE his decor style.✌️💜💋
When hosting a party and in need of extra items, I purchase from a charity shop and then donate them back. It's an inexpensive rental, recycled and helping a charity again.
I don’t necessarily remember Burl Ives, but I do remember being a brownie and singing “make new friends but keep the old one is silver and the other gold“. We sang it as a round and the overlapping parts made beautiful harmony.....
Although Rudolph’s song Silver and Gold was about a Christmas Tree, Make New Friends and Keep the Old was a song used in Girl Scouts and other girls clubs (in the 60s?) I thinkl those 2 songs complement each other quite nicely!
Leah, an option for the wide ribbon around your glasses...thin ribbon with a jingle bell attached. Love your thrifting videos and the ideas that are shared. I'm looking forward to John's home tour!
I loved the movie Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer this was my sister and I favorite movie at Christmas. It always makes me cry when I watch it because it brings back so many childhood memories.
Great video! Linda,I love the dishes you got! Cannot wait to see John's home again! Leah, your sweater is fabulous, and the color is one of my new favorites. May god bless y'all!!
I have a punch bowl just like that one, it came with a smaller punch bowl that could be used to turn upside down and set the big punch bowl on top of it, or use for a separate bowl. I bought it 48 years ago when I got married.
It was fun to see a cameo by John! The camaraderie between all of you is fun to watch. I’m still smiling over the red pants. There might be a subtle difference between fitting, and fitting well, lol.
Rudolph the red nose reindeer was the movie with Burl Ives singing Silver and Gold. I am a 65 year old Great Grandmother, and it is still my favorite Christmas movie!!!
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. Silver and gold, silver and gold, everyone wishes for silver and gold, how do you measure its worth, just by the pleasure it gives here on earth. Such nostalgia. I remember hearing this at my grandparents house on Christmas Eve dinners with all the family. ❤
The Silver and Gold song is from Rudolph. But there's another song we sang at camp: Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold.
When I was a little girl and in Girl Scouts, we sang a song that went …. silver and gold, silver and gold one is silver and the other gold I think that’s all the words .
I think you put the silver vessel for Stewart's office in the freezer before a party to chill your wine bottle when it comes out. Haha on the red pants! Yes at Leahs age I am sure my arm was a good measurement for my waist. That was 40 years ago!!!!! Ain't gonna happen! I am not into elephants but love the material and style of those pants! Cannot wait for John's Christmas home tour!!!!!
My old friend and our neighbor went to Winterthur, where they each bought a beautiful set of 12 dishes at the gift shop . They decided that they were going to share them . One of our other friends borrowed them all for a garden shower . Those plates have been borrowed and used by many of us ! Unfortunately, one of the original buyers was taken too early from cancer , but we talk about her all the time when we are sharing the dishes.
What a fun video! The three of you have have great chemistry together, wonderful that you have found each other. Also so excited to see John. I’m looking forward to another tour of his beautiful home. I can’t forget to Thank you Leah for the tip on pant shopping! I really dislike trying on clothes. I can’t wait to try it out. 😊
There are two “silver and gold” songs. The song in the holiday classic “Red dolls the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other’s gold.” I learned that one in Girl Scouts!
Burl Ives, I think in the Rudolf rhe Red Nosed Reindeer "Silver and gold, Silver and gold, everyone wishes for silver and gold...they mean so much when I see silver and gold decorations on every Christmas tree."
Hi Linda and Leah! Speaking of punch bowls, I have one that I love but it sits on the shelf and would like to find creative ways to use it more often. Can you do a segment on that? It would be so helpful since I don't think I'm the only one with this dilemma. Thx so much!
Tip, Leah, if you have another party with lots of people - invite them at staggered times then all don't arrive at the same time. Questions...started as a Brownie song. One is silver and the other is gold. About keeping your friends.
As usual, fabulous finds! Ok, the song "Silver and Gold" was sung by the big round snowman ( Burl Ives) in the original Christmas TV version of "Rudolph of Red nose Reindeer"...Lyrics are: Silver and gold...Silver and gold...Everyone wishes for silver and gold...How do you measure it's worth...Just by the pleasure it gives her on Earth? ...Silver and gold...Silver and gold... The Silver and Gold song is from Rudolph. But there's another song we sang at camp: Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold.

Every time I have put a pair of pants around my neck from the thrift store, they fit! Without fail! I wish I had those elephant pants!
Rudolph. Burl Ives, the snowman, sings it. Been watching since it’s debut on TV in 1964!!
You need to thrift some sweaters and make sweater vases on those clear vases you thrift. They use white sweater sleeves and look so wintry. Great diy.
There are two “silver and gold” songs. The song in the holiday classic “Red dolls the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other’s gold.” I learned that one in Girl Scouts!
