I think I need to start over from scratch and design it this way but I don't think I'm understanding how it is only engraving the background. When I look at the preview, the entire project is one color

I end up with 3 layers and I'm not sure which layet is being engraved to leave the logo and title alone.

I would like to see how you designed this from start to finish.i have tried to achieve this relief fill and no matter what I do I cannot get it. I don't know if my logo is the problem or what but I am very confused with this.

I do something similar with hardwood dowels sliced into 1/4" coins from the dollar store. Each coin says, "This is a Round Tuit" When your husband says, he will do it when he gets a round to it, you Hand him yours. My handyman service is advertised on the reverse side. :-)

OK this one had me stumped until I followed Rich's "press F1" advice... In the new version of LightBurn there IS NO more "Fill+Line" setting anymore. Now one has to set up a Sub-Layer for the Fill After Line trick. Rich, this video might have to be re-done so new LB version users aren't pulling their hair out trying to get it to show a "Fill+Line". Still a good video though, and always watch to the very end or you'll miss some of Rich's best tips & tricks.

Greetings Rich, I really like your tutorials and am subscribed to your channel.
However, in this video, because I don't understand English correctly (it's not my native language), I'm not understanding what you want to explain.
    1) On the coin you show, for example, at 23:55, you have written the words THE LOUISIANA at the top and HOBBY GUI at the bottom, and in the center of the coin another drawing, leaving the rest blank, so you dug the writing part with the laser? That is, the letters appear to be in high relief.
    2) I also don't understand how you left the surface of the letters in white (mdf color)!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge

Great video and very helpful. For some reason I haven't got the fill& line option on my lightburn version. I have the cross hatch, but only 3 options I have are line, fill & fill offset. Also on another video that you done on framing, I have a continuos framing feature, but not the laser fire when framing. Could this be because I'm still using the free version? Or maybe my laser doesn't support these features? I'm using a 60 watt Co2 laser with a Trocen awc608c controller. Many thanks

Did you mention what thickness plywood you use for these? I have been experimenting and will try your tips. Previously on the 1/8" baltic I have a lot of residue on the back (maybe from the bed?) so that it doesn't work well to put my text on the back or I also have too much burn when engraving so that there are some tiny holes. I know I just need to keep dialing in the settings and see what works best. Did you mention that there is an updated video on this? Always appreciate your teaching. (Oh, I also wanted to ask - when I turned my coin over to do the backside by placing it back in the cut out hole, it had a tendency to move as it did the back side. Suggestions?)

Thanks. I’ll see if I can find it.
Atezr tech support isn’t the best. It’s by e-mail only and takes about a week to get an answer. The answer is usually a UA-cam video link that comes nowhere near my question.
I like the machine, I hate their support.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  7 місяців тому +1

You have to make a jig and align the work to the jig. Then you can flip the coins over in the same hole they cut out of and run the other side. It's hard to explain, but I have a video coming soon on the process.

Just FYI: this video is several months old (as of 01/23) and Lightburn updates have eliminated the Fill+Line option. From the current docs, "In older versions of LightBurn, Fill+Line mode allowed primitive Sublayer use to draw an outline around an engraved shape. This has since been superseded. The legacy behavior can be approximated with Sub-Layers, one for Fill and a second one for Line with the same base motion settings."

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy

Welcome aboard! I leave the wood in position and just flip the coins with my xacto knife point. If you center the design on the wood, you could just engrave first and flip the wood to engrave and cut. Use a framing square attached to the work area so it gets positioned correctly.

Hi Louisiana Hobby Guy! Thank you for your information. Im new to LightBurn for my xtool d1 pro 20w. It's been 4 10+ hr days setting up my laser and the software. All seems to be working well so far. My first project is a wedding seating sign for my niece… so I'm under the gun. Oh, I have the extension table. I finally got the circle frame function to bring the laser from the back left across and down to the front right. “But” when it begins to travel the x-axis on its way back, it creeps so slowly I thought it was stopped. Tomorrow, I will check the belt for anything loose; I just thought of that. Do you have any other software settings I can check that would cause the x-axis to move, but barely? Im using Absolute, and Origin was working, but isn't working now. I hope you know what is going on! Thank you🙇 Lisa
