I'm a beginner, this is my go to every time. I've watched and listened many times. Mikey is a professional. I can use this one pattern for large yarn baby blankets, for regular size yarn for scarfs. It's amazing. Lots of practice helps me. Thanks Mikey.
Made a beautiful baby blanket with tie dye-ish mossy hills color and trimmed with white. Even though I'm a beginner my daughter-in-law wants me to help her make a blanket too. Sweet.
I've been crocheting for a few years now and still have problems reading patterns, so I always have to look for UA-cam tutorials and this video is very easy to follow. I need to make a quick and easy baby blanket for a friend since her baby shower is next weekend. This yarn is extremely soft! I chained 50 like the patterned stated, but I would probably chain 74 if I was making it for a child or adult. I'm not sure if I'll use two skeins of yarn for the baby blanket since the blanket is coming out pretty quickly, but we'll see once I'm done with this skein. I would definitely use this pattern again for future baby blankets... possibly even for myself!!!
Don't be so hard on yourself Mikey. I wouldn't say you failed anyone on this video if it is paused and used step by step as you say one stitch at a time it is easy to follow. I'm a beginner and that's what I did thank you for your work and help you doing great.
I always come here first looking for tutorials. I have to search with crochet crowd when I'm looking for stuff, or search your main page. I have made this blanket twice. This yarn is very forgiving if you mess up. It's super soft and durable too. You do the best tutorials! Thanks!
Love the pattern. Thank you about the 2 different kinds of bernat chunky yarns. It is easy to follow what you are doing, your verbal instructions are wonderful. I listen to you on the TV and crochet at the same time. It works great.
Thank you so much for this video! I literally started this blanket at least 5-6-7 times using first a printed pattern and then another video. Every time I'd get lost in the first 2-3 stitches and the last 2 stitches of the second row and ended up with either a trapazoid or brick looking ends. Your video finally showed me what I was doing wrong (NO ch at the end of the 2nd row, and NO ch until AFTER the second stitch at the beginning of the 2nd row). It's finally looking like a real rectangle with straight edges! ty ty ty ty :D
Thank you!! I am new to crochet and unsure about reading patterns. I couldn't figure out the pattern, found this video, and voile'! I am now making the blanket as a gift for a dear friend. Thanks again!
Lynette - I'm sure you are on your way with crocheting now since this post was 2 yrs ago. I've learned how to do so many things, shawls, scarves, beanies, baby blankets, of course - all with videos! Love it, right?
I have some of this exact brand yarn and have been trying to figure out the best way to use it. thank you for this video! I've been crocheting for many years but always do the same basic stitch so I love watching these tutorials to learn more.
Thank you for this vid. I am a knitter really who dabbles in crochet vids on UA-cam. I am amazed how such a simple pattern can look so lovely and intricated. Am awaiting my second grandson in January and am making this for him.
please please do a series of baby items using the bernat blanket yarn. beanie, scratch mitts, pants, vest, booties, dress, sweater, diaper cover, hooded bath towel and jumper. thank you in advance.
I love this pattern. Very fast. However I didn't like the gaps on the first row. On my second blanket I did a single crochet row on the first row and then the same as tutorial. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for your comment on using single crochet on 1st row. Did a great job on getting rid of those unsightly gaps. 1st blanket I made I did use 74 chains as instructed by tutorial . Didn't see the pattern said 50 chains. The first blanket came out so well, I've had requests for 2 more. Used size L 8mm hook.
This is such a pretty pattern and a fun one to stitch. I am really enjoying making this one for my grand-baby that we are expecting in Oct. thanks for sharing. ♥️
Can you do a full tutorial on this baby blanket please I have tried to get this and can’t get it right I have learning difficulties and don’t understand this video if it’s not in full please can you make the video longer or can you suggest a more simpler one please thank you love your videos I have just made the baby hats and made a load for the baby wing at my local hospital
How to Crochet with The Crochet Crowd , Thank you for the correction! 50 looks a little narrow to me, but then I have never made a baby blanket before. What should it measure to? Also, if I wanted to make a larger bed sized one, what should I take into consideration to get the sizing correct? Thank you so much for this pattern!!! It is just beautiful and Mikey’s videos are always a great find for me as I am more of a visual learner.
How to Crochet with The Crochet Crowd - I think maybe this is backwards. I am 19 rows in with a starting chain of 50 and it only measures 24” wide. According to written pattern it should be 34” x 36” at completion. I am thinking those extra beginning chains are needed to get the corrected length. Can anyone confirm, please?
I like your products. I only have one problem. I’m left-handed. Can you please flip your pictures around so they appear left-handed as well? That would be so handy for us lefties!❤️
It was awesome and I bought bernat baby blanket yarn but I really facing a problm to strt my blanket coz am confused tht how my chains i need to do for the base line to make a blanket.plzzzzz lemme knw da count of chains for the base line (at least approx num of chains)so tht i can complete doing crocheting before my baby arrives in this world...ThanQ
hello.. I started a baby blanket and I am a complete novice LOL.. my blanket started on a 150 count chain....and it's a complete sc blanket since I self taught myself through videos I am into my 4th row of single crochet and I think I missed a stitch on row 2 (since I have not been counting) I have a short attention span LOL... do I need to pull out the 4 rows and chain again and start over? thank you!!
Do we only need 1 BIG ball of yarn that is 10.5 ounce, or 2 BIG balls? OR do we need 2 SMALL balls that are 3.5 ounces each?? Please help, I don't know which to purchase.
I love this pattern and video is easy to follow but can you please help me understand why the edges of my blanket are not flat? I'm on row 7 and the ends are starting to dent in if you know what I mean. Is it because I used 8 mm hook instead of 10 🤔
I'm not fond of the baby blanket yarn. Could use worsted weight #4 yarn and adjust the 'scale' (essentially using the stitch only) to make a blanket? I'm new to crochet...
I can't tell you how many times I have started and then ripped out all of the stitches... I am having a hard time counting the stitches so it gets all wonky!
When I bought the yarn, it said to use an 8mm crochet hook, but then when I opened the pattern it said to use a 10mm crochet hook. I only have an 8, do you think it will still work? Please help, I'd really like to get started. My first attempt at a full sized baby blanket. Due in August! Wish me luck ; )
amber fester yes it will definitely work! Try making your stitches a little looser though. The suggested hooks are really just that, suggestions. I’m a beginner as well but I found I make my stitches a bit loose so the one size down hook works well for me. Alternatively if you find you make your stitches really tight, then going up a size might not be a bad idea. Congrats on your baby! I’m sure the blanket you make will be cherished for a long time :)
Hi Mickey What will the measurements on this blanket? I chained 100 instead of 74 and want to have an idea of the size. Don't want it too big or small. Can you help me? Just for a basic baby blanket please
Yes. You have to use double yarn a P hook. I made one before seeing this video that I was the same basic pattern. The pattern was from a pattern book of baby blankets
I'm a bit confused the pattern states ch 60 but in the video says 74. Can you clarify please? I know you said multiple of 2s. I'm confused. Then the 1st row states 59 stitch but the 3rd row goes back up to 60 is that how the pattern goes or does all the rows have 59 stitches?
Question: does this pattern require you to start by crocheting in the back hump to start or can you work in the chains and still have it come out the same? I'm working with a darker variegated color and it's very difficult to see the back hump. I would like to add a border at the end but don't want the blanket to look all wonky because I didn't start with the back humps :(
Jennifer Tuttle you can just crochet in the chains if you'd like instead of the humps and this won't affect the outcome at all. Crocheting in the humps only neatens the edge but since you're adding a border you won't see the edges anyway.

Absolutely. There's a link in the video description for this free pattern. If you click that, it will take you to the pattern where those details are. Enjoy.
All of our videos have the free pattern listed in the video descriptions. There's a link you just have to click for that type of detail. For this pattern it states: Bernat® Baby Blanket™ (10.5 oz/300 g; 220 yds/201 m) 2 Balls Peachy (04510)
@Maira Lib -- As a beginner myself, I find that I need to loosen my tension (how tightly I'm holding the yarn) so that I'm doing it right. Some patterns actually say on them, "check your gauge." Sometimes you need to change the size of the hook to achieve the desired results. I'm finding that checking my gauge is a good place to start before working on my project. Hope this helps.
Slow the video down....click on the actual video, top right hand corner of the video has 3 vertical dots. Press that and scroll down to playback speed. Set it to what is comfortable for you.
I can't get it right it curves & shrinks what am I doing wrong lost practice & I want to crochet a baby blanket for my new baby granddaughter who is due this December 😔

Very informative and easy. Thank you so much
Glad it was helpful!
I love this pattern. Very fast. However I didn't like the gaps on the first row. On my second blanket I did a single crochet row on the first row and then the same as tutorial. Thanks for the video!

thank you for the video. i've done so many rows of this already and i still think i'm off some how. it's somewhat confusing to me. anyone else?
Me. Im trying to trust the process but it looks weird.
Me too, having a problem with how the alternating rows finish and start
you teach really well, but there were times when you would cover up your work with your thumb and it was super hard to get the visual i needed.
Correction: Chain Only 50. Not 75.

Jennifer Webster I'm having the same issue. My starting chain of 50 is also measuring 24". Were you able to figure out a resolution?
Just do multiples of 2 till you get size you want
@@lovesilla the pattern in the link call for 60.
Having problems with the end of the pattern....love the pattern....what pointers do you have for me
I like your products. I only have one problem. I’m left-handed. Can you please flip your pictures around so they appear left-handed as well? That would be so handy for us lefties!❤️
How many rolls of yarn do u need for this blanket?

this is awesome
Any suggestions for pattern to use 3wt yarn for baby blanket?
I have two Bernat baby yarn, I need to crochet a baby blanket how big can I make with two skeins? Please and thank you.. and the best pattern
This is a great pattern but you need about 3 balls for a baby blanket. So you need to find one more.
I'm not fond of the baby blanket yarn. Could use worsted weight #4 yarn and adjust the 'scale' (essentially using the stitch only) to make a blanket? I'm new to crochet...
Absolutely. Pretty much anything is adjustable in crochet. Bernat Blanket isn't everyone's jam. :D
how long should I make the line I think you said 74 but it looks to small
How many I should make for baby blanket thanks. I enjoy croching
I can't tell you how many times I have started and then ripped out all of the stitches... I am having a hard time counting the stitches so it gets all wonky!
Same!!
this is me now.... starting over for the first time bc its all twisty
I have had that exact same problem. Counting the stitches and have taken this out at least 10 times already.
@@danaporter2630 I started over a ton too!!! counting is difficult, the yarn is so thick i cant count it
Same! But finally got through it! This is the 3rd blanket I am making and the video is alot of help, I've used this video for my other ones as well
How long does it take to make a full baby blanket?
When I bought the yarn, it said to use an 8mm crochet hook, but then when I opened the pattern it said to use a 10mm crochet hook. I only have an 8, do you think it will still work? I'm confused... The pattern I'm seeing calls for a chain 60 and the video says chain 74. Am I finding the wrong pattern from your link?
I'm a kid and im learning how to crochet, this was easy and helpful, but my first row didn't have the holes. Any tips?
Are you adding the chain one after doing your double crochet? You do a double crochet then chain one xx
I don't have that size hook what other size hook would you reccomend
I would do a gauge check with a different size that you have and check the gauge.
Hi Mickey
What will the measurements on this blanket?
I chained 100 instead of 74 and want to have an idea of the size. Don't want it too big or small. Can you help me?
Just for a basic baby blanket please
I only have K can I still do this the same way?
Will a regular baby yarn work with this pattern?
Yes. You have to use double yarn a P hook. I made one before seeing this video that I was the same basic pattern. The pattern was from a pattern book of baby blankets
You know I wish somebody doing one of these videos would tell us that we need to have the string kind of loose because mine was way too tight
I'm your host. I don't understand your concern. What do you need exactly for me to help you better?
How many bundles of yarn do you purchase to make this?
Is this what they call a corner to corner blanket?
How much yarn required for this
What if I do a DC V stitch instead and use the same amount of chains. How much yarn would I use?
I'm really not sure about yarn quantity as I haven't done what you are suggesting. I think you would need to take it step by step and see.
I have an N/15 10mm will that work
Yes, it should.
I’m struggling a bit with transitioning into the new ball of yarn with this pattern
The link to the pattern isn't working for me. Can I find it somewhere else?
The pattern is on the Yarnspiration Web site.
he does not tell how much yarn this will take. The yarn I have has been given to me so I do not know if I will have enough?
Question: does this pattern require you to start by crocheting in the back hump to start or can you work in the chains and still have it come out the same? I'm working with a darker variegated color and it's very difficult to see the back hump. Ok. Thanks a bunch!
How many yards to make this blanket?
How many yarn balls do I need?
Why are your single crochet different from the first row and 2nd row very confusing
How many rows up am I to do if I have 74 starting chain
I won't know as your tension will be unique.
Wow Mikey looked bored out his mind with this tutorial lol

i am wondering if you would have an easy and simple UA-cam pattern for a 15 year old skinny boy. i have been searching and haven't had any luck.
I have to think on that. I don't understand your comment though. Is his skinny nature part of something that needs to be incorporated into the blanket? Or the age is more important?
How many skeins for one blanket?
I believe 3.
How many yards or grams do we need ?
havent seen anything that says how many rows. can someone help?
The video says to change 74 but it doesn't say how high to go. Anyone have any idea?
Yes. See the video info. There’s a link to free pattern.
WHAT SIZE HOOK DO YOU USE?
Stand by. Let me open the pattern link in video. I cannot remember.
10 mm it says.
Can I please know the yards/meters of yarn required ???
Absolutely. There's a link in the video description for this free pattern. If you click that, it will take you to the pattern where those details are. Enjoy.
Great job, Where can I get those yarns?
Glenda, you can get them on Amazon dot com, or Yarnspirations dot com :)
Jo-Ann's in the big ball barnet blanket if you don't want baby colors
Michael's and Walmart carry them too.
How much gram of yarn is used?
All of our videos have the free pattern listed in the video descriptions. There's a link you just have to click for that type of detail. For this pattern it states: Bernat® Baby Blanket™ (10.5 oz/300 g; 220 yds/201 m)
2 Balls Peachy (04510)
I’m doing it but mine is much smaller than what the patern is saying even if i jave the exact same material than what they say !! 😭
Please tell Quantity of yarn needed
You spent a minute or so explaining how to do a slip knot but flew threw the first few stitches after making the chain of 74!!!!! 😑😑😑
Smurfmummy 😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly!

On the printed they only have chain 60! and it's too small LOL
not looking for a blanket for a sweater sorry i wasn't clear
Okay. Have a great day.
Sorry but too fast for me and I rewound this video several times, couldn't really see what you were doing in row 3 at all...
you can slow down the video with the star looking icon use the ones on top
I got lost in the stitches. Tried about 8 times!
Cud u show some baby hats not bennies plz

It's most likely your tension.
