    I finished my web design and development degree back in May, and I finally carved out some time to freshen my skills up and make a portfolio that I'm proud of. In all of my days in college, no teacher or resource that was given to us provided a clear workflow to follow. Thank you for this.

    You forgot one very major point. How much money does the client want to spend on printing? Being in printing (packaging, labels), I've seen many designs that are too expensive to print that are intended to go onto low value products. It's back to the designer to spend more money to get it right. This problem is way too common.

      Something to be discussed in the early stages of client talks. This video is more about the design process

      Not only on printing but also on the designing process itself. Because by most brands extensive research will not be paid.

    • @BeyondDoodle
      @BeyondDoodle Рік тому +3

      That’s why you add your time for this in your pricing.. I personally go out and actually ask people in the streets or wherever depending on the product & concept. The company has an idea but will it sell? Only a true consumer will tell you if the design or target market is right.. and then I go from there …

    • @professorbash
      @professorbash Рік тому +2

      @@BeyondDoodle dude im saying that most of the companies will not pay for extra hours spent on research. They will have a fixed budget that willl limit your choices.
      Of course if you work with big(ish) brands thats not the case. But big brands are like 10% of designers market.
      And even then they usually have separate and independent teams for research.

    You have quickly become my favorite UA-camr by far!! Your videos are so informative, well put together, and gorgeously animated. I have a question for you, or maybe an idea for a future video.
    I design animated banner and social media ads for work and have been struggling to find a good workflow. How would you approach designing projects like this where you have 3-6 size variations for each job, and animating them without spending hours of work on each design?
    Really enjoy your content and can't wait to see what you do in the future!

      @SatoriGraphics  Рік тому

      Hey thanks a lot for the positive words!
      I'm not fully sure I understand the question, but I would make template designs for each size, where you have the same fonts, shapes and assets ready to use, so all you need to do is come in and make a few changes, add a few things, and whatever else. Having the bare basics for each document already setup will save you time

      As a design student myself, I recommend it. Many employers like to see the process behind how you got to your final product design. Also, research helps you try ideas that may not be the first ones you come up with.

      There's often something new to learn, but there is also value in reaffirming things you thought you knew, so that you better understand them and have them concrete in your workflow. Many people 'learn' something or read something, and then go away and don't implement or remember it. There is a difference in learning something and then applying something 👍
