If you are with someone and they commit a crime, even if you stayed in the car, you are guilty by association and will do time for it all. You have to raise your kids with self esteem and self respect so that they are able to stand up to someone that is leading them down a wrong path. I feel so sorry for his family.

He struggled in school with his studies but not his behavior. His family and God gave him a good grounding on his decisions. He is also dyslexic. By the time they could test his IQ he tested 2 points from genius level. So disabilities have little to do with actions. But character does!
The thing is, is that even if raised right, they'll still cause harm to another. It all comes down to choices made! Imagine one of yours caught in a situation! Would you be ok going down for their choices?
The oldest one shoulve gotten a life no parole. He literally convinced a bunch of teens to KILL. Hes an adult. They took someones life. their should be taken away as well, if not literally - then life in prison.

Being from a low income area doesn’t excuse murder 💀 their behavior is disgusting and they need serious consequences for their actions. The parents need just as much punishment . People nurture a baby and make a big deal out of it but stop taking care of adults
The parents just allow the kids to act out in court, just shows what's going on. During court you best believe my kids are going to do and act exactly what I tell them, the judge having to reprimand the kids, what the heck were the parents doing?

All of them should stay in jail for LIFE NO PAROLE AT ALL!! The young man they killed doesn't get a second chance to live so why should they. They all know right from wrong and they all know killing means that person is gone forever!! No sympathy for any of them. 13 or 30 they knew better!!!
Exactly!! They said one would have a hard time telling right from wrong due to his low IQ but I know people with down syndrome with similar IQs and they can tell you right from wrong.
I respectfully disagree with you Doris. Some people are too young to truly understand. At age 13 there's an argument for there to actually be no criminal punishment at all.
To bad life doesn’t really mean life there. They should never see the light of day as free men. I came from the “hood” I never went around jumping or killing people. Yes your environment plays a huge part in growing up and who you become as a person. People use it as in excuse because many get out of that situation if they truly desire.
Agree . Parents and environment has everything to do with how you turn out. Ultimately though we are the masters of our own destiny . Blame is a cheap way out
I just posted a similar comment. We all have choices in life, you dont have to be a product of your environment. There's always a way out, to go up or down. To prosper, educate and work to achieve things in life. Or in this sad case to join a gang and commit murder for a stupid reason. The choice is yours!

The parents have a big responsibility when it comes to children’s upbringing. The children usually don’t know any better and if they’re not guided in the right direction, it’s really easy to fall in the trap of doing bad things. This is why parents are heavily responsible for them especially when they’re young
One of the hardest, the hardest parts about parenting, is fighting peer pressure. I tell my soon to be 11year old son "you and your age mates are idiots. Except for class subjects, there is nothing you can teach each other. Before you consult your fellow underage idiot, consult your parent."
Yeah 13 year old boys whom are damn near mentally retarded should pay with their lives for stabbing another kid once in the leg... Because clearly they were raised correctly, had fully developed brains, complete understanding of life and its value and had good parents to guide them... right? But in all seriousness these kids need help and rehabilitation. 1 life is gone forever, lets not make it 6 because we are emotional.
@@OAwesomeO Your comment is spot on correct & I couldn't agree with you more. The #1 reason jury's are unpredictable is because many times they will go with emotions instead of everything raised at trial.
Its up close and personal. You have to touch someone to stab them. I cringe when I think of plunging a knife into another human, but somehow thinking of shooting a person feels more detached, not as risky. I’m a Yank though.....so, yeah. I have a loaded glock 19 under my bed right now.
Yeah. I always think there's so many shootings here in the US because it's so easy. All you have to do and pull a trigger. To stab. You need to touch someone, you need use your body to force a knife into someone. Very personal. Which is why I think there's a lot less stabbings than there is shootings. :(
It's far easier to point a gun and pull a trigger than it is to stab somebody. The desensitisation to gun violence in the USA is alarming and the main reason I would never visit the states. The UK has a problem with knife crime, but it's not on any level close the scale of the problem of gun violence in the USA. In 2020, there were 275 stabbing deaths in the UK. (pop. 70m) In 2020 there were over 43,500 shooting deaths in the USA, including 610 mass shootings. (pop. 331m)

I wish you were correct, but I am afraid it varies from state to state and judge to judge and how the sentence is worded. Rather than retyping an answer I already gave, I am going to copy and paste it for you. Our laws are messed up in many ways, especially when it comes to convictions. ...some states that have sentences worded 20yrs to life, meaning that after the convicted person has served 20 years they can be considered for parole but not before. This is why judges often hand down consecutive sentences when they (the defendant) is found guilty for multiple counts, basically ensuring that the convicted person never gets out. There is also "life without parole" where that defendant will never be allowed to apply for parole. That's why it's important to listen to a sentence very carefully because life does not always mean "life". Worse yet, 5 to 15 years means the defendant could apply for parole after the first 5 years is up, and if denied parole they will serve no more than 15 yrs. Judges can hand down for example 20 years for each count and if there are 6 counts then it's actually 120 years because it's consecutive (one ends and the new begins) not concurrent where a sentence means that time for two or more of the convictions will all be served at once using the same example if those 6 counts are 20 years each, concurrent, then only a total of 20 years is served and parole could be considered prior to those 20 yrs being up for "good behavior". Are we all confused yet? LOL It could be more confusing, such as time being taken off a sentence for "good behavior"... UGH!!!!! To make it even messier, the sentences imposed can vary from judge to judge within the same state. Some judges are softer than others or tougher, that's why some states have mandatory sentences for certain crimes or circumstances. Each state also varies with what is or is not an adult.
I wonder what these thugs parents think of their kids? I mean, what where were their parents? Probably getting high of drunk. All of their lives are forever destroyed. Not to mention the victim’s family. What a sad sad situation. So many lives ruined over nothing.

It seems there is an impressive trend towards violence in the UK over the last few decades. I credit the UK courts with the majority of the blame. The sentencing of these goobers is so lenient, they have lost all fear of getting caught for even the most serious crimes.

I blame the parents for not raising their kids right. It's a parent's responsibility to raise their kids to be decent, moral, and respectful of others. They said these kids were raised without boundaries. Truly the Bible is correct when it says, "Spare the rod, you spoil the child." If parents were raising their kids properly our prisons wouldn't be full to overcrowed.
It depends of the society in a country and where you live. Living in a deprived area, a social hotspot makes it very hard for parents taking care of their children.
I don't take parenting advice from a fairytale book written thousands of years ago and edited throughout the ages. Hitting kids means you are on the same mental and emotional level as the children.

We in Sweden need to re do our law like this. The gang rapes and gang shootings need to stop. If everybody in court here keep silent the lot is free to continue further crimes.
I don't understand why they don't just make it an unconditional sentence that murders be put to sleep. After all, what has jail ever done for anyone? Let alone an animal.

"What can be done?" It's actually really simple; Eliminate poverty. Poverty and a lack of opportunity or hope is the common thread across the globe when it comes to a lot of crime, particularly gangs. People can bemoan knife and gang crimes getting worse, but then turn around and vote for austerity measures ensuring families be trapped in vicious cycles of crime, unemployment, low education, and often drug/alcohol dependencies.
So, there are no murderous rich kids, you think ? Mental issues don't know no socio economic boundaries: you'll find psychopaths and sociopaths in all strata of society. A reflection on society on how more powerful and corrupt hierarchies have become more prevalent and disconnected in British society.
well written Sheri. Completely agree.. They have opportunities, they chose the life they led. They expect everything given to them and have no idea what hard work is. I'm from a rough estate in Salford... I chose to work hard and prospered immensely financially and also through my career. I could have chosen that life, it would have been easier at the time. They had opportunities definitely and I know that for a fact.
Anytime a life is taken, especially when two or more are involved in the attack and the attack is intentional, those involved should be locked up for the rest of their natural life. No parole, no going to prison for this many years and getting out. If they take a life they forfeit their right to be in society. Or the criminals can opt to be executed instead.
It has nothing to do with being antisocial either. A lot of people like to keep to themselves, but don't have any urge to hurt another human. No excuses.
I'm not a doctor but in my limited scope of knowledge regarding substance abuse and criminal behaviour, I'd say that most if not all of these kids are suffering from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. From their pictures they almost all show the physical characteristics (small eyes, ear abnormalities, upturned noses, pronounced brows, thin upper lip) of the syndrome, and their behaviour, particularly their lack of remorse or understanding of the consequences of their actions is textbook FAS. The kids involved who don't have the syndrome are probably just too young, stupid and easily influenced to know any better, they're just followers doing what they were told. Combine that with the fact these kids grew up in some of the poorest parts of Liverpool all but confirms that their mothers more than likely drank heavily during pregnancy. That's not a stereotype, it's a fact. If these kids really do have FAS it doesn't excuse their behaviour; What they did was still evil, but if that's the case then their parents are every bit to blame, because by continuing to drink while pregnant, they literally created a monster. Whether I'm right or wrong doesn't really matter at this point; like everyone else I'm just trying to understand why this happened and how it can be prevented in the future.
They might seem a bit funny-looking to some people, but they’re British and come from different places than a lot of us. Big deal. Being poor does not indicate that the mothers drank alcohol. They were all old enough and “smart” enough to know better, but they did it anyway. Sure, circumstances may have influenced them badly, but they still made a choice to do wrong.

If they’re old enough to determine what is right and what is wrong, then they should be held accountable for their actions. Each one of these boys should have received a life sentence and no less. It's not "knife crime" that is the problem.... The lack of value on human life is the problem. No social connections of any true value to their futures is a problem too. Take the knives away, and they'll use sticks and rock if need be, but they'll still commit the crimes if the underlying issues are not addressed.

I agree. The children are a product of thier parents failing to raise them to be responsible, productive and accountable human beings.
Totally agree, plenty of people are from low income areas, and they were never like this... they're old enough to know right from wrong...
Peer pressure is a powerful force. Even good parents fail to keep their kids out of gangs. The group violence cements their bonds.
The parents just allow the kids to act out in court, just shows what's going on. During court you best believe my kids are going to do and act exactly what I tell them, the judge having to reprimand the kids, what the heck were the parents doing?

I just posted a similar comment. We all have choices in life, you dont have to be a product of your environment. There's always a way out, to go up or down. The parents have a big responsibility when it comes to children’s upbringing.
The children usually don’t know any better and if they’re not guided in the right direction, it’s really easy to fall in the trap of doing bad things.

One of the hardest, the hardest parts about parenting, is fighting peer pressure. I tell my soon to be 11year old son "you and your age mates are idiots. Except for class subjects, there is nothing you can teach each other. Before you consult your fellow underage idiot, consult your parent."
They knew what they were doing. The sentence should of been life without parole. You take a life you give your life!

In the US, shooting is one thing. But it takes a special type of person to walk up and stab someone to death.
(pop. 70m)
In 2020 there were over 43,500 shooting deaths in the USA, including 610 mass shootings. (pop. 331m)

Sentencing in the UK is so stupid. At least when Americans sentence murderers, it’s rarely less than life no parole
NOT FOR JUVENILE.
Yeah, why even use the term "life" when it's not actually life.
@@roseyannette2030 Excellent explanation. Thanks for the additional information.
That's why they are not afraid of killing because the laws are so lack it makes no sense

You're wrong. Keep on believing it tho, I am too tired to be arsed to explain it to you ^^
It depends of the society in a country and where you live. Living in a deprived area, a social hotspot makes it very hard for parents taking care of their children.

Wait, a life sentence with a combined 53 years and one getting only 6 years minimum and the oldest getting 18 years? Did I hear that right?
They sure are roasting those kids badly
By human standards my dog has low intelligence. Even she knows right and wrong and understands when she does something she is not supposed to. Acting like their intelligence is low and they don't understand is just an excuse that will never fly by me.
I have carried knives and many of my friends have as well from the age of 6. So far, in over 60 decades, I have yet to murder anyone.
You never know when whittling will go wrong its just a matter of time .
So you’re over 600 years old? Are you a vampire?
@@Tiffanygarris LOL! Oops! Thanks for pointing that typo out. :)
Sometimes people are so cruel and hateful that the victim becomes the perpetrator. Two wrongs are never right.
Why did it take the police more than 6 minutes to attend the scene given the severity of the call and the reputation of the area? That poor kid could have been saved if the tory government hadn't cut frontline police budgets to such an extent that arrival times have been so drastically lengthened. They have blood on their hands and yet still people vote for them.
That poor boy and his family. This shouldn't happen when you're just out doing your washing. I hope the monsters that did this rot.
The problem with youth today is there are NO rules, NO repercussions, NO nothing. Even parents are helpless to stop their children from being naughty. These thugs may be young but they are still thugs and I for one would have no problem giving them a damn good hiding. That is what they need. As a mum, they would never see the light of day again. This should never have happened.
It's not "knife crime" that is the problem.... The lack of value on human life is the problem. No social connections of any true value to their futures is a problem too. Take the knives away, and they'll use sticks and rock if need be, but they'll still commit the crimes if the underlying issues are not addressed.
I'd like to see the stats that really show the numbers who really are rehabilitated in prison. Seems to me that they just learn from others incarcerated how to hone their skills and not get caught next time.
Hopefully they can be rehabilitated to only maime and assault without killing
Hilarious pfft
In the wrong place at the wrong time is rubbish. Anyone should be able to go anywhere at anytime. There should be a curfew for all the antisocial kids and their parents should be held responsible for their whereabouts and behaviour. They should not be allowed to have technology that allows them to communicate with each other.
