That's my issue with Western Caribbean cruises. Winds and weather seem to be more of a problem in the winter.

I’m on Celebrity Silhouette right now and the wind and seas are crazy! Upper decks have been closed since yesterday. We are due back in Fort Lauderdale tomorrow and we are rocking!

I was also on the Silhouette! I’ve been in heavy sea conditions before, but not for 2.5 days. It felt like was trying to walk through jello. It was so exhausting. I’m home in my own bed now, but I’m rocking like crazy!

Many public libraries offer free language learning from Rosetta and other programs, and you can access them online at home. Visit your local library and get a card- they have lots more than books!

This was the craziest thing. We got word from friends on the ship that the ship undocked. We were told to wait to reboard. Then the ship pulled away and out to sea. The authorities told us they were bringing us back to the ship 2 hours later and dropped us off in a compound surrounded by barbed wire. No food, water, bathrooms or shelter. 5 or 6 hours later we were shuttles back. And stayed there while the coast guard checked out the damage
Google translate is excellent for learning a new language (and free). I am trying to learn Thai and sit by the pool trying to learn the letters and words (on screen and audio). Love Don's videos.
The same thing happened to us some years ago in Hatualco in Mexico. The lines broke off the dock. After divers were sent to check underneath the ship. Once everything was well checked and determined to be OK, we were let back onboard.
Don, we love watching you on UA-cam . We went on Norwegian once and never again. I would rather go on a vacation where we are not on a schedule. I cannot wait to retire just to relax and enjoy life. Your channel is the best. Keep up the good work.
Now... yes, Brazil's primary language is Portuguese, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't have opportunity to also learn Spanish. My friend, a native Guatemalan, also speaks & understands a lot of Portuguese.
The neighboring countries to Brazil are mostly Spanish speaking, so that's a helpful second language for them to learn.

The Magic left the passengers for a short time until the other dock opened up. They then redocked and stayed in Ocho Rios overnight. Nobody was stranded.
We were stranded. We were shuttled to a compound surrounded by barbed wire. Left out in the rain with no food, water or bathrooms.

Yes my daughter was on the Oasis and said she was back on board by 1:30 because of the high winds.
So who was stranded? Passengers were told that after the Costa ship left the Magic would come into that dock. Perhaps some extended time on the island but everyone got back on and no one was stranded….🙄
Yes. They were not stranded. I read the article on this. According to the article they were taken care of. Taken to another port two hours away and put back on
@@markanddiana.ourjourney3846 The pier used by the Costa Pacifica is 5 minutes away from the by bus from the Carnival pier. I suspect a 2 hour delay would be for the passengers who had returned to the original pier where they would have waited for the Pacifica to depart and the Magic to dock at the vacated pier. At that point Carnival would have transported them to the alternate pier.
None of this information was correct. We were told we were being brought to the ship and were dropped off at a compound of sorts surrounded by barbed wire. Over 1500 of us crammed in there without bathrooms, exposed to the storms that just pushed our ship into the pier, and had no food or water after carnival promised they would provide some. The only people take car of. Were those who booked excursions. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.
I’m surprised the carnival ship could push away from the dock/pier. I’ve been in the fijords trying to pull away!

Don, "hotel services" are HVAC, water, lights toilet, Etc. These services were probably not curtailed curtailed, even if other nonessential services were.
Go to an all-inclusive! Your hotel will not be going anywhere!
While the Carnival Magic may be delayed in Ocho Rios it wasn't scheduled to depart until 1600 (4 PM EST) today according to Cruise Mapper.
We had to stay there to await the coast guard arriving and giving the ok for the ship to leave.
I would never pay to take the first cruise.
The sales pitch was way too long. And Portuguese is the language spoken in Brazil!

@@allytrudie864 go sit down. Many people don’t like sitting through sales pitches that are longer than tv commercials. I posted a timestamp for those of us that doesn’t want to sit through bullshit. It doesn’t have to be 3 minutes long. It wouldn’t be a thing at all if the sales pitch was 30 seconds to 1 minute max. It would still be annoying but doable. I fast forward past the pitch so I can get the timestamp.
Royal Caribbean seems to making changes with their current Australian ships. The transpacific for Ovation has been cancelled for 2025 and passengers have been given the option to transfer to the Quantum transpacific. Also April sailings on Ovation seem to be cancelled.

Not sure I'd be upset about being stranded on a Caribbean beach. Life can be rough at times, but this is low on the list of reasons to get my feathers ruffled! 😂😂
Being shuttled to a compound surrounded by barbed wire is hardly ideal. We were kept without food, water and bathrooms and had no shelter from the storms. A vacation is not what come to mind in those circumstances.
Not to mention the port at the same time went under water

Mistakes happen there was no disrespect and I think that is harsh to imply that. We all watch Don for his cruise knowledge and also because he is a clearly a great person and also always courteous and thoughtful.
