The sgraffito tree of life really touched me. There are a lot of new beginnings happening in my life at the moment so that piece reflects my present, and I love it! ❤️

Love all the new glazes! Can't wait to order them. I held my breath over the plate until you made it ring. So lucky. Gorgeous!

On a craweled piece ... dab just a bit of Amaco Oatmeal and refire. The Oatmeal flattens and covers nice. Adds a contrast of toasty cream

Thank you so much for the explanation about spitting. I had a terrible spitting problem with Amaco’s Deep Firebrick a long time ago. I had been buying it in gallon containers and then bought a 5 gallon bucket of it for dipping. Big mistake. The people at Amaco said the directions said to use distilled water. I had to read the directions to them. No where did the directions say to use distilled water. They said “Oops, you have an older bucket.” I ended up just getting rid of that bucket and eating the expense. Live and learn.

My kilns are in my shed outside in Iowa! When I fire the kiln and while it’s cooling I have a space heater on so it keeps the temp around 50 so I don’t have the issue of it cooling too fast. My favorite piece is the larger muffin pan! I can’t wait to try that glaze combo. I love how your new glazes aren’t streaky and have full coverage. And thanks so much for showing them brushes on. I’m so worried about learning how to dip glazes but I know I’m going to want your new glazes. I have had soo many crazing issues with the Amaco celadons I am beyond excited to get yours!!!

I love the last plate you pulled out. I am looking for a turquoise celadon glaze and your blue poppy looks so close. They are all awesome!

Jessica, I have followed all of your videos and I have loved all of them. Especially your infectious laugh. But I cannot find where you have made the muffin pan, and I desperately need it. I like to make muffins for my son, but not the cases, they are so expensive for one-time use. Thank you, Margaret(The Village Potter) I have been this for the last forty years. Time moves on and pottery changes. I do love all of your tutorials I can take them to another level. I fire to cone 9 so your glazes are not in my repertoire as I mix my own. But we can all adapt to different ideas.

Hi Jess, so what happens to the bisque pieces you have on the shelf in back of you? Do they freeze and is that ok? Im guessing there is no greenware back there, right? Love the posting, I could say please stay warm. but I see you're probably not going to do that ;-)) LOVE LOVE LOVE the little scalloped plate with the new Wild Aster purple with blue hydrangea and flux WOWZA...and also those MUFFIN PANS! YOU ARE THE MUFFIN LADY! Cant wait for the class! THANK YOU JESS

I noticed you don’t use any stilts with the glaze firing; especially with the plates. Why didn’t they stick to the shelf?

I might be a day late and a dollar short but when its cold sticking a space heater into the kiln for a while has been said to allow for firing in subzero conditions, im only going off internet comments though. I have an envirovent and mine errored once until i put my space heater facing the evirovent for the first few hundred degrees, but since then i have never done it again too

That is a great tip! The real issue when it is cold is that the glazes cool too quickly in an unheated space and you can get crazing. Here in VT the winters are very long and cold with temps below 0°f for weeks. Luckily my new studio is fully insulated and heated and I can fire my kilns all year round.☺️

So you used Laguna Bmix? I can’t get mine to vitrify! 🥺. Have you had any issues? I was firing to cone 5 and they all weeped. I recently did one at cone 6 but half of them still weeped. I’m so sad

What brushes do you use for glaze

  • @ahafun2010

okay, so you put the red underglaze on and wiped it off on that small plate and then put buttercup "on the entire thing" - so how did the red still show? why didn't the buttercup cover the red? i keep seeing folks use colored underglazes and then do other color regular glaze on top yet with the underglaze color still showing . . . .sometimes i know you can and should use a wax resist, but you surely didn't use a wax resist for these tiny lines?

Buttercup is a celadon glaze so its transparent - things like underglazes or transfer and texture show through
