Ive been stranded on a kayak with a buddy hours past sunset once, but we were barely a few miles offshore and a current kept pulling us out. I cant imagine being just in the water, no way to rest or anything. Glad you made it back man
Jake, I saw you on Dive Talk. When they revealed you were safe I was f-n relieved. You were calm and still had some humor. I would of been shark food due to panic. Glad you are safe. Live on brother. And definitely carry a light lol.

@@icejakeyjake You mentioned you were thinking about getting those panels that fold up thin. those are just called signal panels. we had them in the military and also we put infrared tape on them too incase it is dark.

Pretty much no defence, that's alright though, I was in it's world and I was way out of my element. I wouldn't have held any bad feelings.
What is the name and brand of your swimsuit. I’m thinking of doing a swim that requires around a two or three hour venture and I’d need something that would keep me from getting hyperthermia or very cold.
Hi Mansa, It was a Hollis SD7, but I am pretty sure that it's not produced anymore. It was half replaced by the Neotek, but I have never been a fan of fixed hoods. I would lean towards a 5mm though if you have to swim, you lose quite some movement with a 7mm. I have heard good things about Bare wetsuits, that's probably who I would lean towards.. I basically go from shorts and a t-shirt straight to drysuit. :D

Dive Talk sent me but OMG. I Would own the boating company the damn rescue company the lack of common sense and training is unbelievable and the helicopter over you multiple times just pisses me off.
Man, wild story. I was glad to see you pop up on dive talk while wondering if you lived lol. You seem like a calm dude. I personally feel like I would suffer from a bit of PTSD and would always have it in the back of my mind when diving. Have you experienced any residual fear? Were you even afraid when you were stranded? You were way more chipper than I would have been lol. At least 100 F bombs would have been yelled out.
The next day I was teaching, in the swimming pool, and I got to say I felt a bit of anxiety.. I think I got back home at about 12, and was at work (diving) the next day at 9. I think that's about the only thing I felt afterwards

However by not mentioning the name of the dive shop, you are making a terrible mistake, if someone dies from another mistake I don't think you will ever be able to forgive yourself. Like your man said on dive talk we're a community and we should look after each other. What if this happened to your kid, your wife, gf, daughter, parents etc...?
Hey man, none taken, I 100% get your point, my thought process is it's a slippery slope, the world is small and my primary concern is getting done for defamation of character or some other bullshit. It was a wild ride, and I've not recommended them to anyone since. I'm pretty torn about it to be honest.

How did you get left behind anyway? Did that ever get answered? How were you found in the dark?
Once i got stranded in a taco bell drive thru for almost an hour. No phone or anything.
