any murder involving a child always upsets me. Kitaguchi Satomi was only 17, and from from what you described about her, her life should have been golden. she would have gone on to great things, and her future was stolen. So glad justice was found, even after so many years. but her poor family, and sister. She must have been so tramatised, and i hope she's ok now

When they ask 'what was she wearing?' , the answer is almost never anything provocative.. most of the SA incidents happen to unassuming women who were just minding their own business.. yet these monsters find them appealing.. poor satomi.. may she rest in peace.. thank you for another video Megan.

In fact, Satomi's grandmother was stabbed more than 10 times by the perpetrator, but somehow managed to reach the phone and report the incident to the police, after which she lost consciousness.
Satomi's sister had seen the face of the perpetrator, and was terrified that the perpetrator would come to kill her someday. She also stated that because she was the only one who had seen the perpetrator's face, the pressure of never forgetting it and the fear that she might forget it someday almost crushed her heart.
Incidentally, the 3 million yen bounty on the perpetrator was funded by money that Satomi's father had saved for her to go to college.

The criminal had no criminal record, his fingerprints and DNA were not registered in the police database, and he and the victim had never met and had no contact at all. He was an outsider and committed the crime in Hatsukaichi City, which he visited for the first time. After that, he lived quietly as if nothing had happened, without committing any crimes. And he probably never visited Hatsukaichi City again after the crime. In such cases, it seems that it is not easy for the police to catch the criminal.

this is sickening. the victim in this case was around my sister's age now when she was brutally killed. just like her, my sister is studying while looking forward to attend her dream college. it makes me sick to the stomach just thinking about the pain the girl had to endure during her last moment and the fact that these crimes could happen to someone that young. her bright future was taken from her by the act of a heinous individual, which is painfully unacceptable but here we are, having to fathom it. it broke my heart when i saw her photo on the screen, imagine being her sibling is too much for me to handle emotionally.

You prefer to keep genuine things the way it was. That shows how extensive your every research is until you're able to get the names articulated so well. No single awkwardness occured whenever I listen to your videos.
Thank you for your meaningful works, trying to get the names spoken accurately the way it should be is an honor itself one can be.

  • @jonathanmatthews8862

The Japanese police here did what most police would have done. The overwhelming majority of crimes involve either repeat offenders looking for targets or someone within the social circle of the victim. Even serial assaulters begin with someone they know. The chances of some random stranger from a different area deciding to murder a young girl after attempting to assault her is actually not that high; even in America. I’m not defending the Japanese police here but I don’t think most police forces would have caught this guy. He had no ties to the region and had no priors. In fact, in the US he probably wouldn’t have even been caught because the database of fingerprints is often not shared between different states unless you are in the federal database for some reason (which isn’t the case for local crimes).

Also, the grandmother and the younger sister had trauma and fear that he might return to murder them for seeing his actions. In trial, Manabu also wanted death sentence (probably due to his guilt). It's hard to believe Satomi's murder and her grandmother's attempted murder was this man's only crime. Such an impulsive act based on a sick need for sexual gratification, and we're to believe that impulse just went away over almost fourteen years? Because of guilt? This man went on to bully and physically assault his juniors at work, to me that's not the act of a man that feels wracked with guilt, but a man who never learned to control his impulses.

Megan, I love your videos and storytelling, but the music in this one was a little too much and distracting. I mean no disrespect, the production of your videos is absolutely fantastic and high quality. I hope you may take this as a well intended feedback. Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch more than a few minutes of this video, the music made it too difficult for me.
Wishing you and the baby all the best, take care and rest ❤

It's sick he blamed so many outside factors, but failed to truly take responsibility, fleeting thoughts that he should apologize mean nothing. Society was lucky that incident didn't embolden him to do it with other girls.

This is just sad. Our decisions in life have consequence. Think it over several times before executing it.

Even if they desiminated the information nationwide, it wouldn't help because he was not in their criminal database. He also avoided getting caught doing other crimes and kept to himself most of the time. He knew that if get caught for any reason the police could connect him to the murder.

Logically speaking, for the police, there was no suspicion involving outsiders. There was no sightings on suspicious individuals, no reports on someone unknown etc so they have no ground to expand the search outside. In current time, they can easily use social media to spread the news but at the time they'll need to put aside workforce into doing that

It's so weird to see these perpetrators claiming that murder was not their intention but just to SA the victim? Like that is any better.

"Oh i didnt mean to kill her, just SA her"
      Is the same as
"I didnt mean to shot him but beat him to death"
Like, [insert whatever this creature is], You still killed that girl. 👀

I feel that it's difficult to catch a perpetrator when there are no solid connections to the victim. This is why advancements like surveillance cameras and DNA analysis have become valuable in apprehending criminals today. In this case, he’s not from the city, the crime appears to have been random, and he hasn’t had any arrests since the incident. I believe he may have been remorseful, and the act was an isolated one. Criminals that crave violence typically acts out more than once, especially over a decade. I'm just wondering that maybe there might be other cases he committed in different prefectures that remain undiscovered.

I was 18 years old a senior in high school when this happened. A few months later I lost a classmate due to a murder. Justin for Satomi. It’s sad if she were a,ive she would have been 37 today.

Most of us humans have empathy and sympathy towards other people but I DO NOT believe that he had any sympathy or empathy for the family after killing their daughter satomi ,if he did he would have handed himself into the police station . This animal should never be released because there is a good chance he will offend again .....R.I.P SATOMI 🙏💔 😭...IM happy the family finally have closure even though it took 14 yrs . Thanks for your time in making this video it was another great video 👏💙💙💙🇦🇺.... congratulations on the birth of your baby girl 💜💜 she is absolutely gorgeous 🥰🥰

Man,this is an insane reason in these cases.a dark sexual assult into murder.he show no remorse for the young girl.and I think the case took so long to solve cause the guy is an outsider of the town.people in the town seen him and reported him.plus, the guy fled the town after his crime.

If I'm not mistaken, you had already covered this case before in quite detail. But this time you didnt mentioned about the founding of motorcycle that was left nearby by the murderer (his fled from the scene on feet).. 🤔

That poor girl was just living her life she never got the chance to really grow up what she dreamed of being all because of this sicko. Even though it took this long to get justice at least the victim's family finally have some closure.

Honestly it’s normal to look at friends, family members, tutors or anyone who’s in the victim’s life in any way as a potential suspect. Crimes often happen because you ran into the criminal in some way shape or form. Maybe you pissed them off. Maybe they’re jealous of you. Things like that are often the case where a crime would happen. It’s early someone off the street and you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. So it’s no wonder he wasn’t caught for so long. He had nothing to do with Satomi‘s life until that day. Which makes it harder to crack because it’s not someone who Satomi knew and seen on the regular who killed her. It was literally someone off the street
