    All good points except one...the one about not being able to talk while running because if someone can talk, they're not running fast enough. Running while being able to talk (z2) will increase VO2 max, lactic threshold etc much more efficiently than running in z3. Slow and steady will allow you to incorporate tempo runs and sprints much faster while lowering and then maintaining bpm compared to constantly gassing out from running too fast too soon.

      I hear you and ive debated this with experts from all walks of life but in boxing the one that can push himself to that point and still function "physically " not verbally has reached the optimum level of his ability. There's not need for talking in the ring!

    • @dansmith7465
      @dansmith7465 2 роки тому +3

      @@coachv3436 I think we're not on the same page and i get our backgrounds aren't the same, but "endurance" is the common denominator for both of us. Training in z2 builds up your endurance much more efficiantly than z3/4. For instance, if the same person was running in z2 4-6 times a week while incorporating tempos and sprints and their double was doing z3 runs, after a month the person who was mostly doing z2 would perform better under increased intensity ie sprints tempos or rd/rd fitness because their body would have spent more time under stress of running and would adapt to it therefore the endurance gain would be significant.
      Keep up the good work!

    • @blue0eyes0knight
      @blue0eyes0knight 2 роки тому +2

      @@dansmith7465 You are partially right,. As a matter of fact z2 training is inferior to z3 for every physiological adaption. HOWEVER i do agree that a polarised training approach as you described is preferable to mainly z3/z4 training, and the reason is this...z2 is nearly as good as z3 at eliciting the relevant physiological adaptions but induces far less fatigue while doing so, which is obviously very important. As you eluded to this means that the higher zone interval work can be done to a greater degree of quality as there is less fatigue.

      If you’re not burnt out all the time it’s fine but if you’re always tired do 3-6 miles 3-5 times a week and do 2 days on sprints and hill sprints

      I would say it’s overkill tbh. Boxing is a mixture of aerobic and anerobic so I would run 3-4 miles 3 days a week and the other 2 or 3 days I would do sprints

    Do you believe in overtraining? I was doing two a days for two months and the gym was in camp mode and I feel burnt out. Before work I would hit the boxing gym, then after I was doing cardio and calisthenics. Tho I’m not fighting anytime soon but my sleep was getting worse and I was diagnosed with mild adrenal fatigue.

    • @coachv3436
      @coachv3436  11 місяців тому

      Excellent question brother, so yes, there is definitely such a thing as overtraining and that is obviously case by case, depending on your medical status in your case, adrenal fatigue is something you would have to work around in order to compete so maybe doing you’re running right after boxing training as difficult as that may seem, I used to do that myself sometimes when my schedule did not allow me to spread out the run times. And I have also been guilty of staying in the gym, too long and working too hard before fights and showing up on fight night less than 100%, so yes it definitely can happen!!
