No matter how much beef Krillin had with Vegeta you can tell he still cared as he screamed his name. His scream just makes the scene better and more dramatic as well.
You fight beside someone to protect the world you live on old grudges can be cast aside. From enemies to brothers in arms. They fought and bled together. They're not an outcast prince and the strongest human on earth, they're part of the Z Fighters and they'll fight like hell for each other & the earth

What he did was dishonorable by not being true to himself, and when Goku literally knocks some sense into Vegeta about lying when he said that he was free again n didn't care about anyone else - he realizes that what he thought was redemption, was not... and the only way to truly attain redemption was to sacrifice himself and it all comes together for him in this moment. The way he stares & talks down Buu n laughs at him even in the face of certain death... while giving absolutely zero fucks from the moment you see him deciding his own destiny & knowing he wouldn't be rewarded the same way Goku was after the fact to the point where he actually goes through with carrying out his fate in what looks like a goddamn nuclear explosion coming from his own body is the most gangster shit ever. It's only by choosing to do so that Vegeta takes hold of his fate and becomes more than he was destined to be.

I came across a comment discussing how many losses Vegeta has faced throughout the franchise, and it made me realize that he is one of the most developed characters. He entered the series with a clear understanding of his identity and then transformed into a good guy, particularly when he started a family and stood alongside his natural rival. This transformation is significant because it illustrates the struggle of a man who finds it difficult to hold back when necessary, yet ultimately shows that there is a noble path in being a good person and helping those in need. This makes his character even more compelling. Additionally, his ego as a good guy is entertaining; he is always ready to accept a challenge and never turns down a fight.

ALL OF HIS SPEECHES talking about how he wanted to be ruthless again because earth was making him soft, how goku humiliated him for years by being stronger, his pride destroyed, living his life in slavery and seeing his race "dwindle to a handful". ALL of these themes lead up to this, Vegeta hugging his son openly, telling him how proud he is and then sacrificing his life in order to save those he cares about.
